I don't know how anyone can defend him.
If he just had a normal flu or a common cold I'd be fuming if he was touching my stuff deliberately to mock the whole thing.
The guy is childish moron and he deserves all the flack he is receiving.

The previous topic went downhill fast. Allowed everyone to dust off some of their hate Kobe/hate Lebron stuff.

And yes, the Penne guy was our Rudy Gobert.

Aww man people gonna Munson Gobert's name now.

What a Rudy thing to do. I mean, rude.

Moved here so the other topic wouldn't be derailed. It's all in good fun. Anyone can just look around the globe and understand that with Rudy touching mics or not... the NBA would be suspended. It's interesting how even if he hadn't tested positive, the NBA would have to be suspended anyway, so he got a bit unlucky and was the immediate face behind the suspension. In reality, the league would be suspended regardless. Not sure if they would have had another day of games without the Rudy positive test.

Give me a break. He's behaviour was dumb but nobody knows if he was in fact the first one infected.

One could say it was Donovan Mitchell who infected Gobert but was asymptomatic.

Pure especulation.

Agreed with other posters he is a childish moron and should be treated as such moving forward. He isn’t a goofball teenager , guy is a grown ass man making those bizarre “lemme infect everything so everyone gets this disease!” jokes. Unbelievable stuff.

The league would have been canceled regardless but his abhorrent behavior should leave a stain on his career no doubt.

Welp, the poll suggests the Rudy haters are on their own island. Besides delivering a public apology, he just donated $500K to arena workers in Utah, OKC and childcare for FrenchHealth workers, with a promise of more to come surrounding the current crisis. Everyone makes mistakes, and his wasn't even much to comment on compared to plenty of other NBA ballers. Try some forgiveness - its good for your humanity, and lord knows we all need to rally up on the humanity front right now.

Million times it’s been said it’s not that he got sick it’s the behavior he showed before getting sick and the irony after. Trying to point fingers at Mitchell rather he had it first or not won’t save Gobert from being vilified for be ing a jerk

Gobert donated a huge 500k to the arena employee & local relief funds. Big time of him to put so much money towards this cause.

He'll unfortunately be infamous for this but Christ no. Was bound to happen and the league shut down to a degree was just a matter of time.

I don't think he should be vilified but his behavior from before shouldn't be forgotten either. Good for him for apologizing and making that donation.

Nah, just fart in his Pringles when he's not around and when he's munching them later and frowning, then be like, "What's wrong? Are they stale?"

Do people really think this would not have spread into the nba community had it not been for Rudy? Most people are going to get this virus at some point, like any flu.

Gobert was the wake up call that many needed. A public demonstration of consequences.

Should get Shaqtin MVP for the whole decade for being that dumb

But he'll forever be known as covid dummy who cancelled season and that should suffice

Let’s be clear. No one knows who is ground zero with the NBA. Was his stunt stupid, yes, but the first one tested doesn’t mean first one effected, Donovan or another 300 ball players could have been the first.

Thanks for letting me vent on some of our ignorant responses.

He's publicly apologized, donated his own money to Jazz employees affected by this, and has been turned into a pariah all while having to actually deal with the illness himself and undergo quarantine. I agree it was a boneheaded move to take this lightly as he did (which lets be real is a mistake millions of others are guilty off), but what exactly does he have to do to atone for his mistake in your mind?
