Lloyd Pierce is broken and needs to be fired!

Changing for the sake that he is hurting the development of the Hawks' young players is hyper-important. It would be malpractice for management to let this keep happening.

It's ok if you just don't like the guy. Suggesting he shouldn't get credit for players' improvement, when that's basically his rep around the league, is .... strange.

Reddish, from early season to now, is a totally different guy. And it's a progression that's happened over several months. Not just recently.

Trae - LP is literally the only HC Trae has ever had in the league. He came in looking like a total bust, he's now a borderline superstar. And he's shown significant improvement even vs. the end of last year, when he had started looking like a borderline All Star.

John Collins - Improved his shooting range and consistency, plays better man defense vs. 4s, doesn't foul as much

Reddish - Came in as hot trash who couldn't buy a bucket, now he shows confidence and consistency on both ends

Huerter - Still looks timid at times, but shows more flashes of aggressiveness and comfort as a secondary ball handler

Hunter - Shown the least development, but starting to settle in to his role as an ancillary glue guy

With all due respect your posts makes me believe you've never actually watched a rebuilding team try to start figuring it out on court. We are FAR ahead of where OKC was in KD's sophomore year, to say nothing of The Process 76ers.

John Collins - Improved by one point and one rebound and is still struggling on defense.

Reddish - has improved, so if LP wants to take credit for that, its okay with me, but it's arguable.

Huerter and Hunter have been under achieving all year.

I'll also throw in Bruno, which I'll also blame LP for.

Especially given that there are a host of other teams that perennially draft high and their players never turn out for **** (Orlando, Sacramento, Charlotte... you know the other culprits).

I mean, it's fine if folks don't like the guy. Shiiii, I'm a GT fan but I can't stand our bball coach and there's nothing anyone can say to change my mind. So I'm not immune. But I won't sit here and try to fabricate "reasons". I'll just say I don't like the guy.

Disagree on the bolded part - our starting unit next season is Trae, Huerter or Reddish, Hunter, Collins and Capela.
FAs we sign will be to bolster the bench. Which FAs do you think we are signing to start over 2 of the youngins?

I really want us to make a run at Ingram (who would start) or we could sign someone like Joe Harris who might start simply because we want a pure shooter starting with Capela at the 5. I wouldn’t mind seeing Huerter and Cam coming off the bench with DD and someone like Austin Rivers to give us playmakers and shooters all over the floor at all times. I’m not saying Harris is better than Cam or Kev, but both of them would have more responsibility and opportunity coming off the bench rather than starting. I’d keep Hunter starting and just plant him in the corner on offense waiting for the kick out.

I think it's more important to have a defender next to Trae in the backcourt vs shooting for Capela.
Derozan is declining his $27 mil option, how much are you paying him and he's not much of a defender either.

Sorry, I was referring to Dedmon as DD. I don't want any part of Derozan. Not a defender and I don't want him blocking Cam/Kev/Hunter minutes.

It...would be premature to fire Pierce. In his two seasons, the roster wasn’t built to win.

But regardless of that fact, the number of games when the team lacked energy and looked uninterested certainly could be a poor reflection on the coaching staff...if he gets fired, it won’t be because the team failed to win a certain number of games.

If the Hawks do move on from Pierce, Kenny Atkinson should 100 percent be the favorite to land the job. Atkinson was an assistant under Mike Budenholzer in Atlanta from 2012 to 2016. With where Atlanta is in its rebuild, I don’t think you can find a much better option out of the coaches who are available than Atkinson if Pierce is let go.
