Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
i am really really hoping the 49er thing happens and we end up with jimmy g. that would be a hilarious coup for BB, not unlike the pierce/kg trade.
i am really really hoping the titans thing doesn't happen and we don't end up with ryan tannehill. BB better kiss his own rings because he ain't getting any more with tannehill.

I kind of expect Brady to be back, but if not I'd like to see us sign Marcus Mariota. 26 years old, good intangibles, experience playing for Chip Kelly and in a similar offense as ours, has shown flashes of being or becoming an elite NFL QB at times in the past.

I am not even a Pat's fan, yet I feel Brady will return. I feel this is mostly media driven. Bill isn't the type to say anything, and Brady is just basically saying, "f*** you media!" The fact they reported the "phone call" between Brady and Bill didn't go great is all the evidence I need. Nobody besides Bill and Tom know what the **** they talked about and how Tom felt afterwards. So tired of "sources."

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
In terms of the Boston sports impact with the virus, I feel most sorry for the Bruins. They have/had a real chance to win it all this year again. Someone like Chara for example, well he's about to turn 43 lol. Thats why losing last year hurt, you have to grab those opportunities as a veteran team when they are right in front of you.
Celtics best player just turned 22, our window is there for a while. And as bad as it sounds, this likely helps Kemba Walker who really could have used a lot more time off after the knee drain/shot. Just hope all our players are healthy and not sick. Along with anyone else associated with the team.
The Red Sox are whatever right now. No idea.
Pats depends on Brady and maybe this convinces him to stay and not travel around more now? No idea. But we got 6 titles with him so I feel satisfied with whatever happens. He's always going to be a Patriot. The Tom Brady experience has been BEYOND satisfying as a fan. I got zero complaints.

Basically if he leaves the Pats, most saying now it's the Bucs as the lone option. Not sure what happened to the Raiders buzz either.

This was going to be the big topic of the offseason, instead we're talking about a pandemic.

Brady needs to stay. And it's possible he told a few teams no. The one team I think he really would have gone to is the 49ers though, which I do understand. He is from Cali etc. and it's a SB team. But moving on from Jimmy G would be foolish.
I hope there isn't a sleeper team or two in the mix but we'll find out soon.

Patriots updates:
KVN signs a 4 year deal with the Dolphins for 51 million, 30 million guaranteed.
Pats place franchise tag on G Joe Thuney.
Pats re-signed D-Mac and Slater.
KVN is a big loss, but Collins might stay now that the former is going to Miami.
edit: Jamie Collins signs with the Lions. Now we lost 2 linebackers.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
We also missed out on TEs Austin Hooper (signed with Browns) and Hayden Hurst (traded to ATL).
We had interest in both. Gronk is going to the WWE.
Stefon Diggs traded to Buffalo. Our division is getting harder with both Buffalo and Miami making moves. Miami has the draft coming up too.
We also might tag and trade Thuney, maybe the Jets? They were rumoured to be interested in him.

Damn, he really is leaving.
I will digest it today, for now. Doesn't feel real at the moment.
Wow.

First, it's Mookie Betts. Then now it's Brady. Keep Semi Ojeleye this "offseason" at all costs!

welp, it was time for everyone to move on. rebuild time.
we'll be lucky to be a .500 team next year, belichick or no. frankly, i wonder how long BB will be the HC of the NEP. let the coach McDaniels era begin!

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
So the Patriots lost alot of players in the opening two days of FA.
LB: KVN, Collins,Roberts
DT: Shelton
G: Karras
S: Harmon
If Andrews is not ready by training camp we'll start Ferentz at Center. Karras is a Guard but started at Center in all but 1-2 games.
Harmon is not that good anymore but he's one of our leaders.
We just signed a tackle, former Bucs player to replace Shelton.
Nobody, literally nobody at the skill positions. Diggs to Buffalo, no other WR on the roster other than Harry. Edelman and Sanu are old and unathletic.
Need a tight end BAD. Obviously no QB. Stidham is not a starting QB, no way, not yet at least. No linebackers other than Hightower.
