OT - Tom Brady to the Bucs

Post#1 » by Def Swami » Tue Mar 17, 2020 11:00 pm

This whole year is weird. Upside down. Makes no sense. Never thought I'd ever see Brady leave the Pats, let alone for the Tampa Bay Bucs of all teams.

It will be an interesting year. He's obviously declining, but can't be worse than Jameis, right? The offense has a high ceiling with Howard, Evans, and Godwin.

Probably not as Brady will be more of the stabilizing force that offense needs but its still a bit tricky. It's not like you are going from Trubisky to Brady. Brady and Winston actually had the same QBR last year and while Jameis is obviously a very flawed QB who has been turnover prone at both the college and NFL level, there is undoubtedly some good that comes with the bad. A lot of focus is put on the interception numbers (rightfully so) but the yardage and TD numbers put him in rare company as well && when you look at his interception numbers up to this point in his career he's right on pace with names like Peyton Manning and others.

There hasn't exactly been a lot of stability since he got to Tampa either. I looked at next year as the do or die point for his career and was excited to see him have another year with Arians. He's just hitting his athletic prime and still has a lot of ability. But clearly the NFL feels differently as he is still unsigned. I'm sure his trouble with the law has a lot to do with it.

The Bucs will still be must-watch TV for me though. I think Brady still has some left in the tank. There just wasn't much talent on the offensive side of the ball for NE last year && while I think Evans and Godwin's numbers benefitted in a big way from Winston's playstyle they are still very talented players. I don't really know how much it will move the needle though. It will still be fun to see Brees vs Brady twice a year regardless and Atlanta and Carolina are sort of in rebuilding mode so it should be interesting to see what happens.

&& just as a side note, the Superbowl is in Tampa next year. Wouldnt it be just like Brady to stick it to NE and win a SB on his home field.

I told Tom Brady on twitter several times with the most recent being yesterday that you should definetly consider going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Great weapons in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Breshad Perriman, OJ Howard, Cameron brate, etc. The defense is on the rise. The problem with the team was the QB Jamesis Winston.

Raymond James Stadium rarely ever sells out if it has and now Brady will sell out all home games. Yes the superbowl is in Tampa Bay for february 2021 and that is definetly pressure. I wish i could get season tickets but I have to be very careful cause my work schedule is Sunday through Wednesday's.

Thanks man. I don't think he picks the Bucs without you.

The question is how good is Tampa Bay's OL?

YES!!! Very happy. I was never a fan of Winston, he had some great games but the ints and overthrows never got fixed. Can't wait to see what Evans and Godwin will do, they have been great but now with Brady should be even better.

The Oline is prob the weakest part of the team and hopefully gets upgraded, but I've wanted that for years and it hasn't happened yet so will see.

My favorite Winston memory is when he went into Publix for a chicken tender sub and left with free crab legs.

I believe Jacoby Brissett is going to be the starting QB for the Patriots.

It's not like the Patriots were terrible. Is he wanting out just to experience something new? is he just bored? lol.

I always think athletes like himself should stick with their original team if they can. It somehow adds to the legacy to be the guy who never jumped ship or left. Brady I think has that leeway because he's won so many rings so his legacy won't be impacted. But still, just seems strange given the Patriots were still a playoff team.

Unless like I said he really just wants to experience something new before retiring. Which is valid really.

Gronk will be another fan favorite in Tampa. If the coronavirus interferes with football season, Gronk could be wasting his time coming out of retirement. Now i see why the Bucs are trying to trade OJ Howard.
