Feels like it will take multiple weeks of 'quarantine'. :meditate:

Most people only really woke up and smelled the coffee starting late last week, so it's been less than a week here in the US.

If you look at Europe, one by one, countries are having "enforced" curfews. Meaning, if you are out on the street, you are in disobedience.

All Spaniards must stay home except to go to work, buy food, go to the pharmacy, to the hospital, or for other emergencies. These activities must be done individually, except for people who have mobility difficulties who can be accompanied.

It seems inevitable this is coming sooner than later.

Right now the world's collective health is of course the most important issue. But going forward the effect this is going to have on most of the world's economies is going to be devastating. I feel like the health thing is in each of our collective hands, not completely in our control but if we all do what's necessary we can at least minimize the spread/flatten the curve. But what's going to happen economically after that, I just don't know.

I agree with Bill Ackman or whatever his name is. Trump needs to come out ASAP and put this country under quarantine for a month. Have food & supplies delivered to everyone's houses

Umm it is a big China problem. I honestly could care less for calling it what it is and something needs to be done over there about it before the next one.

PC culture is ridiculous. Take down the borders, travel bans and lets pretend we dont know where it came from cause it might hurt someones feelings and be labeled racist

Me too.

But it really isn't something to be totally stressed about. Here's why:

America has a population of 327 million. That means for it to even reach 1% of the population, it would have to spread to 32.7 million people. So far in Wuhan the total cases are under 100 thousand. I feel like even if it were to hit 32.7 million people across the US they would have a vaccine by then. And lets say 5% are fatal, that would be a total of 1.6 million deaths. Which is A LOT. Crazy a lot.

But is only 0.004% of the total population.

And that would be the worst case in my opinion because I don't see it reaching 32.7 million people, that's a ridiculously high number. And even if it were to approach numbers that high, I think vaccines will be created by then because it will take a long time to get there.

Bad math bruh!

It's only 0.004 because they aren't testing.

Jeremy Lin, the Harvard student, doesn't grasp there are several coronaviruses. Just using the generic term is insufficient.

DNA fallacy? Tim Poole was a lead Vice journalist for years, a very liberal publication. People need to stop attacking the sources with preconceived bias and actually read the content. I'm reading CNN as much as Fox or anyone else right now. All Stefan did was share an article about how WHO basically said this wasn't human to human transmission, based purely on what China said. A hilarious failure on their part. They went from downplaying everything to declaring a world wide pandemic in about 6 weeks.

Exactly. Simply calling it the coronavirus is insufficient because I have no idea which coronavirus we're talking about since there are so many of them affecting us atm. We must call it the China virus otherwise I'd be totally confused!!

What can you say about this theory that the Corona Virus started from the US (Fort Detrick)?

Personally, I think it has legs but it misses pieces in the puzzle for it to be conclusive.

Scientifically speaking this is true (trying to stay on topic.) China has finally banned wild animal markets, hopefully they can limit black market activity as well.

Maybe you can't read but nobody is saying to get rid of the borders or travel bans. Criticize the Chinese government all you want, but it's more than people's "feelings" being hurt. Chinese-American/Chinese people in the United States that have nothing to do with the coronavirus are being assaulted and victims of hate crimes.

Boarders and travel bans were also racist at first and now its racist to call this thing a China virus?

They have disgusting virus infested wet markets running wild but lets all just act stupid to the fact.

He knows very well what he's posting, millions of Chinese but even more millions of US citizen who have developed "Sinophobia", republicans and democrats alike. So more votes to take on that end compared to Chinese-Americans simple math.
