In case you were wondering why Trump keep calling it the Chinese Virus, it is because he see China as a direct threat and is planning to escalate tension with them

And as far as evolution goes, the virus is hitting people who already had their shot at reproducing, not the current breeders, so I don't see this virus doing much to eliminate stupudity from the gene pool.

So you are saying I should be having more sex with my gf just to prove I’m still a breeder lol.

I wouldn't think so, or else no vaccine will help. They give the body the dead form of the virus so your immune system attacks it, and can kill it the next time you encounter it.

How can there be so many “private” companies doing tests at high rates during a outbreak? So they have the resources but are not making them reasonable for the general public?

How is this different from the guy that hoarded a bunch of sanitizer?

This is how far behind in testing we are at the moment:

This failure to ramp up testing may end up being the biggest scandal in modern US history. I don't think people realize how much damage it's already done and is continuing to do.

It literally could end up killing over a million people in some of the more dire scenarios.

Sounds about right.

That thing looks ancient and disgusting already.

Like its from another era.

Looks like something you'd get sick on in the first place. Does not look modern or clean.

Plus there's the irony of using a ship to get healthy when its on cruise ships that the virus infected so many already.

Some people have been "reinfected" but it may have just been false negatives.

They have found that blood plasma from recovered people have antibodies in it and could be helpful in recovery for others, so you should be immune to it.

They were melting down way before the virus, if it wasn't for their lobbyist and massive political campaign "donations" they would have been punched with massives fines and probably would go under already. Sadly the likely scenario is that none of the execs that made the decisions to cut corners will face jail time or major reprucussions. Heck even the departed CEO just resigned and walked away with $60 million...it's like it's set up to incentive them to F up, either way they still win.

None of this is surprising though for anyone who has worked with the CDC or even NIH.

This is amazing. This is why I think America is about to get it's ass kicked badly. We are nowhere near this level.

In case anyone isn't aware of this - check the policies of your local groceries store and spread this message to the elderly around you.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus-senior-hours-grocery-stores-reserve-shopping-hours-for-at-risk-people-during-covid-19-outbreak/

By Wednesday, two other giant store chains announced amended hours for the elderly. Whole Foods, which is owned by Amazon, said it would open its stores an hour earlier in the U.S. and Canada so people 60 or older can shop. It will do the same for customers 70 or older in the U.K.

Another Texas-based chain, H.E.B., is using another method to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. The company announced it "will provide a $3M gift to support Texas non-profits helping seniors, children and low-income families as we work together to slow the spread."

"To help support the shopping needs of the elderly in our community, effective March 17, 2020, we will open our doors from 7–8 a.m. to allow those ages 65 and older to shop in a less crowded environment," the company announced on its website.

National brand Dollar General also announced this week its stores would dedicate their first hour of operations to at-risk customers.

Nonsense - testing could have been ramped up 4-6 weeks earlier. The administration just refused to take this seriously. H1N1 testing was ramped up much, much more quickly

I personally know 2 ER docs who have been warning me about this since late January.

We could have been more like SK or Singapore... instead we made the choice to be Italy

How are we doing compared to Italy? Are we doing better than they were at this point? Worse? The same?

Not true, the CDC bungled the tests, it delayed companies scaling it and then the FDA emergency policy was enacted (because of state of emergency) before the problems were resolved which added an extra layer of bureaucracy, which has since been lifted a few weeks ago.
