Magic Draft War Room: Debate Event!

Post#1 » by Skin » Thu Mar 19, 2020 11:40 pm

What better time to do to this than now? I have an idea.

Let's pretend you are a scout for our beloved Orlando Magic. The basketball season has ended and you have scouted basketball talent all around the world. Now it's your turn to give your recommendation to the Magic front office on who they should make their 2020 First Round selection.

Game:

Anyone interested to play will select a draft eligible player to whom you will debate in favor for in the "Magic Draft War Room". You will make an elaborate post that is your scouting report of this player. All scouting reports should be posted in another thread labeled "Magic Draft War Room: Scouting Reports". Once a player is selected, nobody else can claim that player. The player you select doesn't even have to be your top personal choice, but it would be a fun exercise to get to learn the players, and give you an opportunity to exercise your debate skills. You can reuse your favorite scouting reports, quotes, videos, link, etc to create your Scouting Report post, but try to sum it up in your own way as well.

I will create a tournament style bracket and there will be a voting (by anyone) to see which player is selected to move on... ultimately until we get a winner. During each match up, scouts will commence is debating why the Magic should follow their recommendation.

Come on all you draft nerds, let's do this! Who will you represent?!

List of entries:

I think you should sign up some posters and randomize who they have to represent. It might be more interesting in the long run.

For me there are two kind of outcomes.

Draft boom or bust: this means players like RJ Hampton or Josh Green

Draft for the bench of the future: this means players like Precious Achiuwa or Zeke Nnaji

For me, I would love for the Magic to emerge from the coming draft with the rights to RJ Hampton. There might need to be a small trade-up deal to make that happen. But his game is very much in line with today's NBA. For me, a draft is better used as a boom-bust scenario.

I'd be up for a random pick as well, but if not I'll rep either 1) Hampton or 2) Vassel.

Any more interest?

Sounds like folks prefer the random assignments, so I've set that up. But before we start I thought I'd ask if anyone else was interested in joining in. What say you Mr.Howard Mass??? :)

OK, let's get started! I only selected players that are SG/SF wing types that are within our draft range according to nbadraft.net.

Players left off include: Haliburton, Hayes and Maxey (because he's a 6'2, SG - not WeHam's type).

So without further adieu, here are your randomized assignments:

Skin - Jordan Nwora
Ducklett - Saddiq Bey
Magic_Johnny - Jaden McDaniels
Patrick - Jahmi’us Ramsey
Drsd - RJ Hampton
Magic#1 - Devin Vassell
Uraverage - Josh Green
Bballislife - Aaron Nesmith

If everyone with an assignment can check in, so I can know that you know about this, then we can proceed further. Once you've checked in, go ahead and do your research on the player and get ready to make one incredible post to sell us on your player! Don't do it until I give you the word.
