Yeah - over the top.

The story here is simple. Complete abject incompetence. We don't really need to go much further than that

I really hope it’s just compete abject incompetence but at thE VERY base of my bones I can feel something sinister is moving behind the edges. A perfectly timed pandemic could be the thing that binds the US or even the world into a dictatorship. /end crazy theory

They had all the info early. Knew who would get rich. Knew who would die. Knew what would help, decided not act on it.

Chose not to act. What possible type of "incompetence" is that?

Choosing not to act IS an act in and of itself.

Regarding California, how is everyone going to eat if they lock down the entire state? What happens when people run out of food? Are supermarkets, gas stations and pharmacies excluded?

Insider trading is a little more complicated than we’re making it out to be. The crime of insider trading refers to purchasing or selling a security while in possession of material, non-public information concerning that security, where the information is obtained from a breach of fiduciary duty, or a duty arising from a relationship of trust or confidence. So if you don’t owe a fiduciary duty and didn’t get the information from someone who did, you can’t really be guilty of insider trading.

Certainly a terrible look and I’m sure there’s specific guidelines regarding lawmakers buying/selling stock, but not sure it’s insider trading.

The most astonishing thing about what Kelly Loeffler did is that she didn't even need to put herself in that situation.

Her husband is Jeffrey Sprecher who is the Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange.

She is estimated to be worth $500 million and is considered the richest member of Congress.

She didn't even need the money that she was going to get from insider trading.

Yeah, grocery stores are still open and restaurants can still do takeout and delivery. It seems like it’s really not that different than what was already going on here, but it just has force of law now.

Trying to figure out what exactly the statewide lockdown means. Most lockdowns seem to allow essential services which tends to be a very expansive list. People can still leave the house to exercise or walk the dog, but are supposed to maintain distance from others. You can still gonget groceries too. But things that are largely recreational like going to movies and meeting up with friends are out.
Only 7 Players in NBA history have 21,000 points, 5,750 assists and 5,750 rebounds. LeBron has double those numbers.

The point is to make people wake up and realize how serious this is. No one is going to be arrested for driving around.

Well gas prices are reaaaaaly low right now, so wont have to spend much of our corona $ on gas. Cruising is a viable option I guess.

As far as I know, these would be in violation of the STOCK Act. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STOCK_Act

Not exactly insider trading, but pretty much insider trading based on information only provided to Congress. I'm no lawyer, but some of these seem pretty damn blatant.

Stuff in PA mostly shut down. Even tried to stop in Wal Mart tonight and they were closing at 8, needed to get bar soap for showers (of all the times to run to my last bar) and had to go elsewhere. Of course apparently no matter what happens I'm stuck working I think but w/e, now only have to use the office 1 day a week.

Public buy in is important but unfortunately it seems a lot of people have to have this thing right on their doorstep in order to start taking it seriously. Even then, it's no guarantee.

For those on full lockdown---are restaurants still open for takeout? Can you still drive to your local Panera and get a salad or soup?
