All restaurants closed, delivery and take out only. Feels like our cases should be declining not rising.

According to Chinese analysis two weeks quarantine is not enough for a person who is carrying a virus.
At least 50 days because the virus mutates twice or more.

Taiwan (which is excluded from WHO, at China's request) said they warned WHO about person to person transmission in late December.

It wasn't until 3 weeks later that WHO informed the rest of the world, of what Taiwan warned them about. Taiwan, btw, is clued into the CCP obviously through the constant threat they are under from China. They investigated what was going down in China early, they smelled a rat/coverup going down, it resulted in an early flight ban and immediate ramp up of mask production and early ration planning. None of which WHO was ever interested in hearing about, because China tells them Taiwan is not to be recognized, and they agree to it. Taiwan probably is in the best position on earth at the moment.

The level of incompetence/corruption at WHO is unclear, but it is there in some form.

Of course worse than WHO is China (CCP) creating conditions where there is no sanitary regulation. Which led to SARS initially, then they regulated/banned? those animal markets for a period, then let them back, now we have this. And then China must have known about person-to-person at least a month before other countries, and just the general severity of transmission, and the virus itself.

When the world looks at this eventually, China should be front and center in the blame. WHO should also be looked at closely.

Now isn't the time for leaders to point fingers, because even if they blame the correct party, it looks political. Especially Trump of course, looking for a reason to blame China for what they did/didn't do on top of blaming them for all of his failures.

There needs to not be this kneejerkism that because Trump plays the xenophobia/racism card on China to deflect from himself, that criticism of China (government) is off the table. It should be firmly on the table, at a later date when appropriate. Along with whatever is dragging WHO down to the point where they actively ignored warnings that would have saved many lives, had they actually respected Taiwan's sovereignty.

WHO's entire purpose is to help inform and protect the planet in situations just like these. They did it about 3 weeks late in this case because they decided politics took priority. That's what happens when you don't stand up to the CCP, you help them and hurt yourself.

Just gonna get worse. The scary thing about this is how it continues to exist for hours in the air and days on surfaces.

Yup, WHO f**cked this right up. Downplayed it, became China's mouth piece and spewed bull in the beginning. It's a scary proposition that in fact nobody knows what the **** is going on.

Taiwan avoided a major outbreak in all of this - We should be listening to them instead of the WHO. Tedros isn't even a medically trained as a doctor, and he's the guy telling the world what to do.....

When all this is over, heads need to roll within the WHO.

For anyone interested in what's happening in Italy.

FYI, if you think you're too young to be affected you might want to reconsider. The fatality rate for people under 50 is low, but that doesn't mean you won't be left with long-term respiratory issues.

Yep I would rather trust Dwane Casey's timeout management than trust anything China or the WHO says

The amount they were praising China in every press conference was comical. You'd be forgiven for thinking you were watching a Chinese state TV broadcast.

I was a teenager (young and ignorant) to follow what was going on with SARS but is this true?
The cause for SARS was let back in? Is this not a sign of a danger to the world?

That was extremely informative. Thanks for sharing!

Once this virus is under control, hope china gets the backlash they so deservedly need. I cant see this being treated as a slap on the wrist from all these impacted nations.

Given the corruption of the government of that country, I honestly think nothing will change, despite the global havoc that is happening. It's really rare now, where a country will admit fault, and learn from it's mistake. I can see this happening in another 15-20 yrs again, with even more disastrous results. It's not even about national pride/denial, its about improving and bettering yourself. It is disappointing, especially as a Chinese Canadian.

It's like we are all taught as children and young adults, to learn from our mistakes and grow wiser through them. And yet we don't see that on a nation/government scale. It's so frustrating. And now China is giving aid to countries that need it. It's like having a roommate who smokes indoors, burns the house down, and 8 months later gets you a new house (while you are living homeless), and then continues to smoke in that said house.

China and Korea have been using this treatment for a while now. You can get it prescribed here too since the drug itself is approved (most doctors with sense will hopefully prescribe it if you're in a high risk group and get infected). This doesn't need extensive testing. Hopefully health agencies approve it quickly without dragging their feet.

Wet markets are a disgusting and cruel practice. No country in the 21st century should have them, let alone one that's touting itself as the next global superpower.

I'm hoping that the economic impact of this outbreak will compel the Chinese government to finally crack down on these markets. Economic growth is the CCP's lifeblood, and they can't have some medieval peasant markets interrupting that.

Everyone is constantly praising China's selflessness during this crisis. I know it's just political bootlicking but it's **** embarrassing.

if history has taught me anything its that people will make the same mistake over and over again.

this isnt the first flu out of china. and they didnt really crack down on anything.

this is what happens when every country has to rely on china for everything. china destroys its own environment to meet the worlds demand for animal farming to goods manufacturing.

not every country has the brilliant minds like china does to make stuff. but i really hope some countries start picking up the slack for their hunger to consume.

Has anyone had luck finding isopropyl alcohol in stores? Would be nice if people didn't hoard that too. One bottle can last you a year easily.

New York is now begging the public to donate masks and other PPE.

If only we had the manufacturing capacity in western countries to make more masks. But we were too busy telling people how useless masks were for decades, leading to dangerously low supply and limited manufacturing capability.

One can only hope we learn something from this.
