Keep it up responsible citizens!

Although I feel sorry for Florida and Tennessee from this example.

I posted the links to the Kinsa maps the other day. Florida definitely not looking good there.

A lot of places looking very bad in the observed illness map below.

I'd be interested to see charts of death rates from pneumonia, flu like illnesses and respiratory issues. I'm pretty convinced we are missing deaths from COVID-19, possibly quite a few.

That last sentence in my first paragraph doesn't read very well. I was trying to say businesses with big crowds at them like gyms, restaurants (the dining in part), movie theaters, etc, are closed but others (those in places where you wouldn't have crowds like those examples would be open.. I tried to preface with "where you wouldn't have huge crowds like" ____________ and end with "would still be open". I should have added to closed ones stuff like shopping malls, retail stores, etc.

Ah that makes more sense. I didn't think they'd be allowed unless they're saying they're life sustaining somehow, felt strange given how much is closed and felt bad they were even open given the state's order. Even grocery stores were pretty empty.

Most grocery stores I go to are busy. The weirdest thing was I went to Walmart yesterday and it was probably the least busy. But it was pretty cleaned out. Still got some stuff.

Everything is pretty cleaned out.

Shouldnt of just watched a Spanish Flu documentary.

It killed quicker but wow the effects of how it locked down the world and overwhelmed everything so quick are frightening similiar.

Literally weird watching it now and living through a epidemic in modern days.

Getting a little more optimistic about my area, I have no idea just how many tests they have done in my county but currently we have 1,387 positives (980,000 people) so it must be over 4000 tests. I don't know how but CFR is 0 right now so all of the testing done in the last 2 weeks may have actually saved lives here. The first case was March 1st, he's still in the hospital but now out of his coma. The testing site is starting to accept drive ups too, no longer need to make an appointment for some. So, keep testing, don't stop till we run out of tests.

Also, the containment zone going up in New Rochelle made people extra paranoid.

What are the scientific reasons for Men getting the virus more often? The last figures I saw from NYC showed that men accounted for 59% of all cases. Is it something as simple as men are less hygienic and shake hands/dap when we greet each other? Or is it a lot more complex?

I don’t have an answer but from the charts I’ve seen with information coming out of Italy, the disease seems to be more fatal to young men (20-30) then women of the same age bracket as well.

They've apparently taken some drive ups the last few days in New Rochelle, I wouldn't do that though as it seems to be a luck of the draw and they could turn you away still. They had a standoff on the first day or two where a woman didn't have an appointment and wouldn't leave for 45 mins.

I don't know too much about NYC tests, outside of the fact you have to make an apt.

Too much zinc may not be good for you. I know some have said they supplement with 50 mgs per day and i think the RDA is only around 12. Just do your own research on supplements. I take D C B and zinc but i think I'm going to break my 50 mgs of zinc into smaller pieces.

China is also attempting to clean up their image with a lot of donations going around the world.

If our administration were smarter they would have quietly asked for help from China instead of playing the blame game so soon.

Here is an article I found on this issue yesterday.

https://www.haaretz.com/world-news/.premium-biology-or-behavior-scientists-study-why-coronavirus-kills-more-men-than-women-1.8688767

Basically women have often had more active immune systems. And estrogen might be a buffer perhaps too.

As a woman I find this stuff fascinating myself but yes women can still get this and die from it, so nobody is really "safe".

But interesting stuff to read nonetheless.

In case you are wondering about China and especially how Wuhan managed to get the numbers of cases down to zero in such a short time, there are reports coming out that the Chinese Government is misleading the world on the true story of what is happening.

Even Chinese citizens don't believe the idea that the government got a handle on the outbreak so quickly.

https://www.rfa.org/english/news/china/wuhan-claim-03202020153401.html

"Wuhan resident Zhang Ruyi said public trust in the government is at a low ebb, because of attempts by local health officials to cover up the emergence of the new pathogen in December, partly by suppressing information and partly by classifying the surge of new cases as "pneumonia."

"It's funny, that," Zhang said, adding that he is highly skeptical of the claim. "They're not just lying now; they've been lying since the start, by classifying [COVID-19] cases under other diseases."

"There are 60 million people in Hubei, and they have all just been left to live or die without any help," he said. "It's basically down to a person's immune system."

"They are saying that only a few thousand died here in Wuhan, but does that sound right.

But Wuhan residents and citizen journalists have previously reported that funeral homes in the city were working round the clock to cremate bodies during the height of the epidemic there, while advertising to recruit manual workers to collect dead bodies from people's homes by night.

Social media reports posted by volunteers showed that more than 20 patients were admitted to Wuhan Tongji Hospital on Wednesday alone with symptoms resembling COVID-19.

"There were more than 20 cases at Tongji today," one volunteer posted. "Wuhan hasn't dared to report them, because [local officials] are under [political] pressure."

Calls to the medical and political departments of Tongji Hospital rang unanswered on Thursday.

Wuhan resident Liu Songyang said the city is still under an information lockdown, with ever stricter controls on public speech.

"We can't tell whether there are new cases in the hospitals or not," Liu said. "But local officials are sure to be covering up the truth."

"Judging from the past two months, rumors often turn out to be true predictions."

A resident of Hubei's Xiangfan city said local authorities had only reported five coronavirus out of a total of 17 in Yuliang prefecture.

"Nobody's allowed to talk about it," the resident said. "They are reporting that only five people were infected, and the patients aren't being held in a hospital."

"They're being given injections every day, but they're not allowed to tell anyone.

An Wuhan resident surnamed Wu said there was a long line of people at Wuhan Xiehe Hospital's fever clinic on Thursday.

He said many people who had been discharged from hospital had since tested positive for the coronavirus.

"Some of the people discharged from the temporary hospitals are relapsing and then testing positive after they get home," Wu said.

Daily deaths in the US have dropped 2 days in a row. Is it too good to be true we are starting to beat the virus?

On the subject of masks, look at Hong Kong.

Ultimately that is what America will need to look like to get back to work, mask wearing in public. On Australia's 60 mins they showed a restaurant in Hong Kong and they put a clear partition between patrons sitting across from one another.

Nike, Adidas, Gucci, etc will have fashionable face masks being pushed hard by fall, you can bet on it.
