My progression with Animal Crossing:

-Never played one before, but if I'm going to be shut in why not. Might be fun to play with my kids.

-Kind of fun, but not that deep. Not into how it makes me wait a full day for things to be built.

-I live here now.

Doom Eternal is a lot harder than I remember Doom 2016 being, but it's still hell of a lot of fun. I've had a few frustrating moments, but mainly it was relearning the Doom-way of playing a shooter (not reflexively reloading, learning the pattern of glory kill/flame belch/chainsaw to refill your health/armor/ammo, dashing a lot, etc...). It's a good one-two punch with Animal Crossing to distract the brain during all of this --- high velocity, aggressive, over-the-top violence and then gardening with friendly anthropomorphic people.

I’m still on stage 2, but think I’m getting closer to 3. Day 2 had significantly more thing yo do vs 1, so will be interested to see if day 3 takes a similar jump.

One hack I've found that makes any videogame better is turning this playlist on in the background of whatever I'm playing.

I played my 'day 2' this morning for about 2 hours and got to the point of not really having anything else to do today, unless I want to come back later to try to get different fish or bugs tonight.

I think it'll pick up more when I unlock more things to do, like terraforming and whatnot. But it's also fine if it's more casual and not something you sit down with for 4 hours at a time.

You got me into DQB so I'll ask you how it compares to that. I've read that if you manipulate the Switch's game clock you can get to the good stuff earlier.

It's like DQB in the sense that you gather materials and craft stuff, and it's cute with good personality, but I think the similarities kind of end there. You don't build things block-by-block, like your house is just your house (...I think?). It's less story-driven, as well, and more free form.

I don't know how to explain it well yet since it's just been a handful of hours I've played. Check out some YouTube videos and see if it's your cup of tea. I will say that, from YT videos, I was a little on the fence if I'd like it or not, but I jumped in anyway. And I'm glad I did.

P.S. everyone - I have pears. I have no idea how visiting other people works, but my friend code is SW-3792-1669-4593.

I got to Day 2 today, completely opens up which is great. I ran out of things to do in yesterday and couldn't really play/progress. IGN's review did mention it was a slow start in actual days so I was expecting it.

Really enjoying it though, you have to earn the town more and have more of a say in everything. What's great is I hooked up the dock to my living room TV and I'll play and my wife will watch. I don't know about some of you, but that's huge as she never plays/watches videogames haha

Same. I kind of thought there’d be another 10 pages here with no NBA and a lot of game time.

Doom Eternal is fun so far. A lot harder than I remember Doom 2016 being, but fun nonetheless. It’s got some weird story stuff going on that I kind of didn’t expect.

I'd post a lot more but I think I'm the only Souls/Bloodbourne/Nioh nutcase on this board.

Haha dude I think I'd be happy playing SoulsBorne the rest of my videogame life. I platinumed Bloodborne and DS2 in 2020. In the middle of a SL1 run in DS, etc.

I don't love Nioh but need to give it another go.

Working my way through Zelda Links Awakening right now on Switch. Got it for my birthday 11 days ago, which seems like generations ago. To think I had about 15 people over in my house, what a time to be alive that was!

Bought Animal Crossing. I think I did as much as I could on my first day and paid off my debt. I’m going to try and learn the mechanics without doing too much online research. This is a play at your own pace game, right? Is there anything I would miss by forgetting to login for a few days?

Yes/no. I read online stuff my first two days just to get the hang of how I should think/what I should do, but I'm with you - don't read online. It's all about min/maxing you pace-wise in a game where the point is to not do that.

For some reason I totally dismissed Half Life: Alyx as if I don't already have a VR set. Now to consider if my motion sickness can handle a game like that.

Sitting down with Animal Crossing after a long **** day and not being able to leave the house is truly delightful tbh. Really glad I picked this up. Very excited with town development. Much cute, very anthropomorphism.

Just turned my game on and wish I was able to play some during the daytime.

So the wasps are pretty annoying. I was able to catch them with my net once. Then my net broke, I started shaking trees, a wasp nest fell out, and I thought I could outrun the wasps...nope, they'll follow you forever.

If you don't have your net out you should be able to immediately sprint to a building and enter before they get you.

Ah, thanks. Didn't think about running into a tent/building.

Not sure where else to put this, but it's mostly video game related. My wife and I moved into the same office the last week+ and it was ok at first, but quickly turned out to be a bad idea. Anyways, lots of dumb/petty arguements and **** later, I moved downstairs.

Last night, 2 of my best friends and me did CoD Warzone together and ended up playing for 4 hours. In today's age, with my schedule and stuff, that's unheard of.

It was the best escape from this bull **** of a reality I've had in months. It was fricken awesome. Highly, highly recommend.

I'm glad I read about the one Island per Switch rule for Animal Crossing before I got it for the kids. Reviews for the multiplayer have been pretty brutal.

Anyone recently purchase a gaming laptop that can give me some advice? I've been looking at various builders... Origin, Digital Storm, Main Gear, etc... I seem to find lots of the same kinds of configurations at various price levels. I know I have to try to compare apples to apples as much as I can, but, I'm wondering if there is one builder that stands above the rest? Any suggestions?
