My guess, they wanted US companies to make a killing in profits. That seems to be the main preoccupation.

Shameful. A handful of you guys continue to make these absolutely hateful remarks about Americans with no pushback. I don't want people that view these posts from other countries to think that this is a common opinion in America because these ridiculous claims receive no pushback.

I think we are just calling a spade a spade. There is no fun in self deprecation.

Trump can't just say "get back to work" in 2 weeks, and everything will go back to normal.

I was starting to hear from my clients over a month ago how their company had suspended travel. There is a significant risk to their organization to have Covid-19 spread throughout the workforce. SXSW was canceled mainly because major organizations started pulling out, not because the Federal Government was putting out guidelines.

So no, even if Trump says get back to work, things will hardly go back to how they were. I can see desperate small businesses that have the choice of going out of business, or endangering the lives of their employees and customers is going to have a tough decision to make.

This is a good point. I work from home on the east coast, but my company is based in Seattle. They went full WFH prior to any government recommendations because our HQ is where our developers (very high value employees as we are a software company) are based.

I think you ease people back into society. For example, you re-open restaurants but regulate the occupancy. No tables of more than 4 people, only 50% maximum occupancy. At the end of the day, the landlord still wants his/her check on the 1st.

Most software companies should be able to operate remotely. With slack and other collaboration tools, there really isn't a reason you can't conduct business remotely. It's the service industry that is going to have issues operating.

Those are pretty good ideas; but they have to be accompanied by a large scale test/trace/quarantine system. We'll need to be prepared to go back to localized shutdowns for awhile as well

Not only that but states make their own decisions. Trump can talk about "opening the economy" up, but it is not his call to make. If anything it sounds like we are going the other way. The White House is talking with the airlines about grounding planes.

I thought I was going to miss NBA/Soccer/Tennis but what is happening is so sad (and I'm scared as **** because I have respiratory issues and my wife is a nurse) that I don't care about basketball anymore

So my update is I’m pretty sure everyone in our household has Cov. My body is fighting it off for the most part. Just like a flu that won’t quit. All the aches and ****. The coughing has calmed down. I think my gf has it too but she’s younger and it doesn’t seem to be affecting her as much. I also have a elderly dog that’s now coughing up blood and the other dog is a young dog and he’s started coughing and having issues too. This sucks man.

This is very dangerous.

Most people only started working from home for about a week. I felt like I started earlier than most, and it was March 13th...but that was a Friday, so really last week was the first week.

It's weird it's only been about a week and it's being said "People want to go back to work". You might expect this after a number of weeks. I would say "of course those who lost jobs want to go back to work" which is obvious, but at least they will get social security.

I wonder how much of the discussion from economists comes from the potential of state's finances collapsing due to unemployment demands.

I imagine a number of states, or at least a number of companies, will continue a work from home policy and/or even a shelter in place policy even if there is some federal mandate for people to go back to work.

This is really irresponsible.
