Top 5 Second Letter of the First Name All-Time Team

Post#1 » by PG24 » Thu Mar 26, 2020 9:11 pm

My second-letter-of-the-first-name all-time team is "I".

Tiny Archibald
Michael Jordan
Jimmy Butler
Tim Duncan
Bill Russell

Vince and Wilt were tough exclusions here but I went the route of defensive acumen on those positions.

Can this team be beat by another letter?
Bet on yourself and believe in yourself if everybody doesn't believe in you. F--k everybody else. What do they know? If you have a passion and you want to put the work into something, then chase it. If it means something to you, chase it.

I appreciate the creativity. Without claiming my team beats yours, I'll do one for "H".

Zaza was a natural point guard. Good choice.

Gotta let Lavine play point and get Zoran Dragić in at sg

But it’s second letter of their first name

"Tiny" was really named "Nate" or "Nathaniel".

Savage.

And, no. Nathaniel Archibald does not work. So put Jimmy back in for him.

To be clear, first letter of the last name goes to J, thanks to Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, LeBron James and a LOT of high-quality depth. There used to be a little doubt because of weakness among the bigs (Abdul-Jabbar alphabetizes to A), but several things changed:

-- LeBron's career got ever better.
-- Smallball made LeBron and Magic ever more credible as 4s.
-- Jokic showed up.

Obviously, there's terrific strength and depth among the bigs -- Russell, Duncan, Wilt, Walton, Giannis ... The challenge is perimeter players, and especially ones that can actually shoot.

Candidates (in some cases out of position) start:

Michael Jordan
Rick Barry
Giannis
Butler (It seems he's really Jimmy rather than James)
Bill Sharman
Wilt????
Mikes/Michaels Bibby, Conley, Ray Richardson, Adams :)
