I think 2016. I think he was at or near his peak offensively in 2018 and defensively in 2012, but was pretty close to both in 2016.

What he did in 2018 Game 1 against all the odds (and George Hill and JR Smith) was more respectable.

Honorable mentions:
+ 2016 Game 5 vs GS, the 1st of 3 elimination games and the turning point of the series. 41/16/7.
+ 2018 Game 6 vs Boston, lost KLove in 1st quarter, dagger on Tatum. 46/11/9.

The current one is the most interesting to watch. The young one for sheer entertainment value (highs and lows).

Gotta go with 2012 LBJ, he did everything in his power to win. I wanted to see LeBron do that again in the playoffs

No thanks, gimme MJ.

This is the definition of derailing. OP clearly isn't looking to create yet another MJ vs. Lebron thread. If you don't want to compare Lebron seasons, then this isn't a good thread for you.

Game 6 vs Boston is my favorite LeBron game. So much was on the line and he went out there in kill mode. I still watch it when I go on marathons of watching NBA highlights on YouTube, Just an amazing performance.

Aww man do I have to explain?

I like Joshyjess response, and Levon's.

I hate MJ vs LeBron debate as much as the next person. It's too much.

The current LeBron that we have is plenty. We've been watching him very closely for the last 15 years, and in the last 10 it's every single day. I get that he drives conversation and traffic.

LeBron is LeBron. All those players had different weaknesses, and were in a different mindset according to his life at the time. Those LeBrons are over. We witnessed. We came, we saw, we loved, we hated.

My MJ response was a poor concise way of saying been there done that. Levon's current LeBron is the most interesting LeBron we could watch right now. That's the one I would pick if any.

It was not meant to be taken seriously as a response. More as a point. LeBron is still really fresh in the mind. You could offer me 10 different LeBrons, doesn't matter, it's basically the same LeBron in different situations. Current LeBron basically the same thing.

I wasn't trying to change the debate at all. Promise. You won't see me in those threads debating those two. (Possibly once ever, not regularly). I wasn't trying to derail. That was my overly short answer to the whole thing. Pardon if it appears to be attempting a new debate, it's not.

2012 ECF LeBron all day. A pissed off LeBron is better than “read and reacted” LeBron a.k.a LePassive James.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

I went with other. Gimme rookie Lebron so I can 1.) have a full career 2.) have cap space to sign everyone else.

Pre-Decision Cavs Lebron. Player Empowerment destroyed the game, for the fans.

Man... if jr Smith and george hill didnt screw up game 1 of 2018... that would have went down as the greatest performance in a finals game ever.

I'll pick the Miami version of lebron though because he was amazing on both ends of the court and was still in his athletic prime.

2012 Lebron was something else. Stats may say he had other seasons which where better, but 2012 Lebron could just turn it on and take over a game which I've never seen a player in NBA history do.

He was scary good in the 2012 ECF, and his calmness in the finals was endearing to watch.

I chose "other"...

2013 Finals Game 7 LeBron.

Pop's gameplan: If he's going to beat us he's going to have to make a ton of jump shots.

GAME 7 of the NBA Finals.

37 points, 12 rebounds.

2016 Lebron

Peak of powers still and had a idgaf attitude about shooting the ball

In Miami his game was more complete but he'd still show moments of hesitation.
