Well, yes. The lungs oxygenate the heart first through the coronary arteries. If oxygen gets diminished to the point that the heart can't get perfusion, well, like any other part of the body that doesn't receive adequate perfusion, it begins to die; which is myocardial infarction, more commonly known as a heart attack.

Kind of weird that this necessitated a study when it is brain dead common medical sense that a lack of perfusion will cause cell/tissue/organ death.

I’m starting to realize that this Covid thing is going to be our new reality. As in it’s going to become seasonal like the flu and it’s going to stay around with us humans forever like the flu just a lot more dangerous. We can look forward to getting our Covid vaccines every year. We sort of accept the flu as something that just is, it’s kind of weird when you think of it. Now there’s this new more menacing virus that makes the flu look like the common cold by comparison. And now that it’s here it probably will become part of the human condition. Hope not but it’s not looking good.

The thing you can't see, his alveoli are at the end of those respiratory trees, is what is alarming. That's a LOT of surface area that's saturated. It's the O2>co2 exchange that occurs in alveoli. It's like the virus is specifically targeting that tissue. Oh man that's bad. I hope that man can recover, but....

I think it's disingenuous to call someone healthy if they have high blood pressure. High blood pressure is very unhealthy, regardless of cause - and there is usually a cause.

"We need to figure out the mechanism of why do people with evidence of cardiac injury have higher morbidity or mortality? Is it related to the fact that they have underlying conditions that make them more susceptible to dying? Is it a marker of individuals that have a more robust immune response that is leading to heart damage?" said Michos of Johns Hopkins.

Lol. Maybe I've had too much alcohol and I need to read that article again. But uh, the answer is pretty obvious. If a muscle is already damaged and it cannot heal, damaging it more will only make it worse.

The heart is a muscle. If it's damaged beforehand, that's bad. If you deplete the oxygen supply to that damaged heart, which is what coronavirus has been doing overall, well then yeah, you're going to see an uptick of people with myocardial damage start dying off.

Nevermind that's it's still illegal to have dead heart tissue removed in the US. Ugh. It's like watering a dead plant.

Whoa! I didn't even notice the tweet called him healthy w/hypertension. Hypertension is not healthy at all. You're absolutely correct. That makes it even worse for the guy.

So America is 1st in number of cases but only 6th in number of deaths. That says something about our healthcare system, no?

I've been using bing.com/covid everyday.

USA confirmed cases from last night went from 64,675 to 83,545 confirmed cases as of right now. USA (recoveries) was at 616 this morning at 7:55 am and the USA has 1864(recovered). Me was hoping the USA could reach 1000 recovered by midnight and now we are getting close to 2000 recovered. USA is now #1 in the world with the most confirmed cases.

Florida has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 1977 confirmed cases( Florida has 0 recovered) 0
California has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 2617 confirmed cases
Illinois- has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 1865 confirmed cases
Michigan- has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 2295 confirmed cases
New Jersey- has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 4402 confirmed cases
Washington- has the same exact confirmed cases from last night- 2469 confirmed cases

Now if Florida, California, Illinois, Michigan,Washington and New Jersey can remain at their total confirmed case number for consecutive days, Than maybe hopefully these states have reached their peak and they could be on a downward sharp drop.

New York had a jump from a little over 30,000 confirmed cases to 37,258 confirmed cases.

Not really. It just says that America started mass testing, but the real state of that system will be known once the number of the patients that require ICU treatment starts going up.

No, it does not. The virus killing people has to do with exposure to certain demographic risk factors like heart disease. There is no cure for the virus. There is no real treatment for serious symptoms. People getting intubated and going on ventilators? Yeah that's not good.

It's all exposure and we've done really bad. We're first for cases with very limited testing. The more people are exposed, the higher the chance it spreads to someone who can't combat the virus. That's the problem.

Florida has done very little testing. The number of infected is significantly higher. They were only doing tests by doctors order or a hospital if you're critically ill. But now if you're over 65 with a fever higher than 99.6F or a first responder/health care worker with or without symptoms, you can use the drive-thru test sites. That's leaving out most of the population.

Deaths lag infections by at least 2 weeks typically IIRC.

There's no magic about the US healthcare system. It's ICU beds and ventilators - period.

There's a video going around on social media about some guy stating there's a US patent for the coronavirus from 2006 and an EU patent for a coronavirus cure from 2014 and it got approved in November 2019. The video is apparently being taken down rapidly.

I wonder if this has to do with the different strains of the coronavirus.

Edit: yep, other strains. Snoped.

It depends on how long ago the shutdowns and other measures were started.

IIRC, unfortunately it takes weeks for those things to bear fruit in terms of the numbers. And again IIRC a lot of places in the US have only recently started these measures, meaning you're more likely to see these cases continue to spike in the short term before leveling out.

The confirmed cases for each state hasn't been updated on that bing site. Others like worldometers show much higher numbers. CA is at nearly 4000 confirmed cases and NJ is nearly 7000. Gonna keep going up with more testing.

Just waiting for my test results to come back in a day or two, nervous as hell, is there anyone infected on this forum?.. Iam from Czech rep. and so far people are doing fabulous job, even the goverment. Who would have guessed that having a guy that worked for the Czech equivalent of KGB back before the revolution as a prime minister would one day honestly came in handy :D . He shut everything down before the abrubt rise of cases even after catching a backlash from a big part of the population, kudos to him.
