What's the number you think Aaron Jones gets in FA next year? What's the cutoff? I don't think the pack should spend over 7-8 mil for a RB (and that is kind of high). They may go RB semi-early this year just in case Jones is priced out of their budget.

They have tough choices to make going into next year.

Yup. For as good and productive as Aaron Jones has been, he's taken his share of pounding too and he hasn't had that iron-man history. I'd be leery of going too high for the second contract on almost any RB. 7-8mill is probably the upper limit.

Hate to even think about losing Jones. Saw a tweet from 1 of the Packers beat writers that said something about an exec put the upcoming free agents in order of importance to resign;

1. Bahk
2. Clark
3. Linsley
4. A Jones
5. King

Tying CM for TD leader last year and breaking out the way he did doesn’t bode well for us to get him back on a modest deal. If he has a repeat season then I could see him getting a monster deal and GB being reluctant to hand him 10m+. Hopefully GB comes fair with a 4/32 deal and everyone is happy.

If Clark doesn’t play better than last year I’d let him walk 1st on that list. Donald and Buckner got fortunes and Clark isn’t nearly on their level so if he wants anything even remotely close, bye bye.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never been that impressed with Linsley. He always seemed about average and prone to getting bulled over by quality DTs.

RB don’t get paid any longer, and the ones that have gotten paid after first contract are instantly regretted (Bell, Gurley, David Johnson)

I’d target that RB from LSU or the guy from Florida St in like the third or fourth. This draft looks great for RB and WR. Then put some kind of tag on Jones and keep him one more year after this one and let him walk the following year.

Then you’d have him through him being 27. Let him walk as try to cash in to a big pay day. Win win

Agreed. I loved the spots LaFleur put him in towards the end of the year with jet sweets and reverses etc.

I like this move too. Still, it would be good to bring another returner onto the roster, probably via the draft. As we saw last year, it was pretty weak without Ervin.

Special teams will get better across the league under the new CBA. Bigger rosters means less starters pulling double duty as special teamers.

Linsley played 950 snaps, had just two penalties and allowed five sacks. Bakhtiari had a rough start to the year, but closed with a bang and allowed just two sacks in 1,075 snaps.

Jenkins graded out as PFF’s top rookie guard and a top-10 left guard overall. In 571 pass blocking snaps, Jenkins didn’t allow a sack.

Bakhtiari allowed a lot of players to get by him even late in the year. Even if it didn’t lead to a sack, it lead to Rodgers feeling pressure. I like Linsley for this year and not sure what he will want. Either way, you always have to draft 1-3 oline players and we always do well on them late.

Draft Zack Moss and groom him to be the every down guy. I love Jones, he’s been my favorite RB since Ahman Green. I would hate to see him walk but if he prices himself out of GB then so be it.

My top 4 RBs go;

Dandre Swift
J Taylor
JK Dobbins
Zack Moss

Then 5th looks like

5a Cam Akers
5b Eno Benjamin
5c CEH - LSU kid
5d AJ Dillon

There’s a huge gap after Moss and although the guys ranked 5th all have different qualities and skill sets, overall they’re interchangeable depending on what you’re looking for. Akers is just as good at being shifty as Dillon is at running ppl over etc.

I think paying a RB big money is stupid. I mean outside of CM, who’s an every down iron man RB that means everything to his offense? Carolina without him is nothing, at least Dallas can maintain a pass heavy offense without Zeke and we saw last year how Kamara can be phased out of the offense in New Orleans and them still have success. MCG is 100% correct, you just don’t pay the position anymore and shame on LAR for setting the market with that stupid Gurley deal, and now look what happened. If you’re completely dependent on your RB then your offense will struggle, NYJ is a good example of that last year. Leveon, as elite as he may be, can’t carry an offense.

We will know the future of Jones after the draft is done. A high priority RB will signal Jones will probably play his last season here. I just hope MLF and Gute have a really solid plan because Jamal and Dexter Williams doesn’t seem like they should be it. I’m not a big Jamal Williams fan, he’s fine to spell and spot but he’s a garbage time hero at best which is the opposite of Jones who always showed up in big games.

I like Linsley more than you, but he should be more replaceable than some. Jenkins can slide over in a pinch, but then you need to replace Jenkins.... That was a solid pick.

Linsley is fine and I wouldn't cut him for additional space this season or anything like that but he wouldn't be a priority to resign next spring. Draft a guy this year in the mid rounds and have that guy battle with Lucas Patrick (who's not bad) for that spot in 21.

I always thought that most great badger running backs were a product of a behemoth oline which opeaned up huge holes.Packers to have close to a oline like that so im not sure i would do that i think jones fits the packers O very well

If you can trade Jones for a first you have to do it, although nobody is giving a first for him....not just in the hopes of landing Taylor...that's just a smart business decision.
