Got gloves to deal with the pumping of gas and, of course, a mask and wipes to deal with Publix. No way to know if there will be anyone there who has the virus and doesn't know it. That's the scary part. Hope the food I buy isn't contaminated either. Will be wiping everything down the best I can. Wish me luck!! These are scary times for me (70) and my Mom (97). We get this chit and we're probably goners. Stay safe everyone. No sports at all really SUCKS!!

70 is not that old in the society we live in. As long as your hospitals are not maxed out on capacity (which I believe they are not) you're in good hands. Good luck!

Thanks Iggie. I'm still slim and in good shape. I can pass for late 50's early 60's and no one would question it. Feeling pretty good these days. Very worried about my Mom though. No one gets into our condo, I just hope I can avoid contact with the virus when I have to shop for food. Hope all you guys are staying home as much as possible and staying safe. This is such a horrible situation that the whole world is in. Testing, isolation, tracing is what needs to be done to flatten the curve and the US is not doing enough testing. Really pisses me off that Trump is more concerned about the economy than American lives. If we don't focus on testing this is going to get a lot worse. Hang tough guys!!

Hope you made it back OK from shopping! Nothing is 100% safe against invisible viruses, but theoretically safer options FYI

Publix is setting aside time for senior customers to get their hands on necessities before they're snapped up by others.

The supermarket chain is designating Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, from 7 to 8 a.m., as senior shopping hours during the coronavirus shopping crunch.

It's for customers 65 and up.

The pharmacy will also open early on these days at 7 a.m. for seniors to get their prescriptions.

Regular hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Publix is not alone in serving senior customers with adjusted store hours.

Hey Iggs, hope all is well with you. I never did go to Publix that day. I did go on Tuesday morning for the Senior shopping hour. I got there at 6:50 am and the garage was completely full and there was 400 people jammed together outside waiting to get in. Couldn't believe it. I turned right around and went back home. I have a neighbor in my condo (Vanessa) who is willing to shop for us when she goes to Publix once a week plus I'm taking advantage of the Publix Instacart delivery service. Each item is a bit more expensive than in the store but it's worth it not having to go out. So I can now stay home 24/7. It's the only way my Mom and I can get through this crisis alive. All the other stuff I need I can get over the internet. I feel better now. I feel like we have a fighting chance to stay healthy.

Total Cases in Broward County is 838, Deaths 11, Hospitalized 100. I'm hoping those numbers can slow a bit. The daily numbers for the state of Florida did slow down today, but I'm expecting it to get worse the more testing they do. I'm hunkered down now for the next couple months at least. Hope everyone on here can get food, meds, gas and other items like hand sanitizer (tough find), TP, paper towels. I'm good with that stuff for now. So, that's the latest from Pompano Beach guys. Stay safe and stay home!!

Good to hear that you don't have to go shopping for now. It sucks to pay extra, but hopefully it's just temporary and safety comes first. You're lucky that you have a saint in your neighbor who shops for you. Times like this brings the best and worst in people and it's reassuring to know that there are very brave and helpful people out there.

The number will keep going up, I'm trying not to pay too much attention to it while being aware of the local situations. Stress is not good for your immune system. Eat well, sleep well, exercise, and stay safe and protect your mother Maj!

The absolute worst time to head on over to publix right now is first thing in the morning. I used to be a morning shopper but now the new morning time for easy grocery shopping is at 2-3pm. The only thing you can't still find on the shelves is paper products and WWE Ice cream bars(So goos). I did find toilet paper at Bravo(down low latino supermarket in Broward) and Doris Meat market(Single roll toilet paper for 99c availible)

Incredible, heartbreaking video, thanks for posting goodboy. The ONLY way we can slow the spread of this virus is a three pronged process…testing, isolating & tracing. That process WORKS!! People have to stay at home & only go out for essentials like getting medications & food ONLY!! Today looking out my window at A1A here in Pompano Beach, Florida traffic was busy. Many people walking & biking. Almost like a normal March day. I just don't understand how people are ignoring the pleas of Doctors & Nurses at overcrowded & overwhelmed hospitals to STAY THE FCK HOME!!

Governor DeSantis (POS) refuses to put a stay at home order into place. Still hasn't closed all beaches in the state. This is criminal imo. Florida numbers of cases & deaths just keep increasing. Broward County numbers keep going up as well. We have all this evidence from around the world of the nightmare this virus can cause. And we also have the evidence of how the spread of it can be slowed down as well. And STILL, some leaders here in the US are failing to do what is clearly necessary to combat this terrible virus.

To all my Heat fan brothers on here, please STAY HOME!! I hope we can get through this crisis somehow & end up on the other side of it alive. I'm not leaving this condo for any reason whatsoever. I'm so lucky to have a loving neighbor that makes that possible. Stay safe everyone!!

Bishop45 wrote:Started to buy into some of the robot conspiracies, these brehs don't seem real

What up Bish!! Hope all is well with you and your family!! Anyone that watches Fox News is clueless to reality. They truly continue to be Trump sycophants. It's deplorable. The only person on the face of the Earth who has politicized this virus IS Trump. And it's all on video. I've been an Independent voter my whole life. Never bought into being a Republican or a Democrat, even though I lean a bit left as a progressive thinking man. Fought hard for Civil Rights in the 60's (actually met MLK as a teenager) and believe that helping people in dire need is my responsibility as well as the leaders of this great country. Trump failed us miserably by not acting fast enough in the beginning when he knew this was coming back in December. Saying it would magically go away, it's no worse than the flu and calling it a Democratic hoax. There should be a nationwide stay at home order and a massive effort to test, isolate and trace. On top of that, a massive effort from the federal level to get PPE and ventilators to hospitals nationwide should be done as well. It's still not happening. I feel helpless being isolated here at home. My instinct is to get out and help. But I am using technology to keep in touch with as many people as I can and offer whatever support I can to those who are sick, losing loved ones and just scared chitless in their homes. Again, stay informed everyone and stay home!

Rant over.

It is heartbreaking and I hope Spain recovers and a 3rd party really comes through with the ventilators. Speaking of which, as I was just typing this, the Musk is coming through for the game winning 3.

The more I read about ventilators the more I realize that you're all but cooked if you're hooked up on a ventilator.

We need a treatment, promising remedies, to save substantial number of lives.

Best thing we can do at this point is lockdown the country for a month to give this country some time to

1) recharge resources for the next round
2) get more tests produced to find hotspots for additional quarantine
3) give scientists some time to find a treatment and get us closer to having a vaccine made (right now a vaccine is 1 year to 18 months away).

I don't think a cure is coming anytime soon and a lockdown won't kill the virus, you'll have people violating the lockdown and people who are still working can also be carriers(food delivery, drivers and cooks) so when the lockdown is done.... it becomes a big problem again to go hand in hand with whatever other issues we created by locking people down, at some point we have to just start living our lives again BUT with the understanding we need to take precautions although a good portion of the nation won't.

It's a terrible situation that a lengthy lockdown makes worse, if we could lockdown for a few months AND have a treatment for everyone at the end of it, great, but I highly doubt that situation will happen. I get a short term lockdown to try to help the hospitals ramp up for patients and "flatten the curve" but I don't think it can really do anything more than that.

Humans are just going to spread disease, last year people were opening ice cream cartons in grocery stores, licking them and putting them back for.... likes on social media or just for the hell of it. Delivery people #)($)( with people's food, cooks thinking it's great to mess with people's food, there's just too many people are just disgusting and couldn't care less about another person.

Ugh... Amazon driver spitting and smearing his spit on a package.
