Well I am just shocked... We're not going to be able to return to some sort of normalcy until there is widespread testing that tests for antibodies to determine if someone has had it or not (assuming that would provide immunity). Starting to open things back up when we still don't even have an idea who currently has it is asinine.

Colleges should be totally not in session right now. Disappointing to say the least.

People need to keep working to keep the country safe and the economy growing. The government refused to claim ownership of the video and has since called it "fake news", but it's exactly the message Mr Bolsonaro has been putting out.
So much so, in fact, that a federal judge on Saturday banned the government from campaigning against isolation measures. Government posts on social media using the hashtag were hastily removed. The din of pot-banging on peoples' balconies has been the soundtrack to many an evening in cities like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro recently. The "panelaços" are a protest against a President they see as irresponsible. A man known for denying science.
He's such an idiot. What makes this extremely dangerous is that the government directly controls testing rates via policy. It's very easy to push the narrative that this is overblown when you expend insufficient resources towards actually quantifying the # of infections.
I feel for the people of Brazil. Hospitals will be overflowing and they won't even understand the extent of the crisis.
Can we deport him and all the other idiots (people licking produce and toilets) to some remote island so they don't pollute the gene pool.

Since my initial response to this got pulled here are some fact links that others can look at and get in tune with what is really happening, whether you can muster the humble pie to do it is up to you.
its airborne now they know it is and humidity and heat don't help.

They found that COVID-19 was detectable in aerosols for up to three hours, up to four hours on copper and up to 24 hours on cardboard. The new coronavirus can also last up to three days on plastic and stainless steel, the scientists concluded, adding the amount of the virus left on those surfaces decreases over time. Aerosols are solid or liquid particles that hang in the air, including fog, dust, and gas commonly used in medical procedures like ventilation and nebulizers.

new scientific study showing SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2), the mutation that causes COVID-19, can remain alive while airborne for up to three hours is being questioned as misleading. aka people are thinking it isn't airborne.
I could go on but I am really not interested in doing the research. it's out there for those smart enough to look for it. I hope you are one of them
That last link states it can only stay airborne under laboratory conditions. Therefore it can't stay airborne in any natural conditions on earth.

THANK YOU JARED KUSHNER!
A commercial aircraft carrying gloves, masks, gowns and other medical supplies from Shanghai touched down at Kennedy International Airport in New York on Sunday morning, the first in a series of roughly 20 flights that White House officials say will funnel much-needed goods to the United States by early April.
The plane carried 130,000 N-95 masks, nearly 1.8 million surgical masks and gowns, tens of thousand of gloves and more than 70,000 thermometers. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide the majority of the supplies to New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, with the rest going to nursing homes in the area and other high-risk areas across the country, a White House spokesman said.
The flights are the product of a public-private partnership — led by Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and a White House senior adviser — in which the administration is looking to health care distributors like McKesson Corporation, Cardinal, Owens & Minor, Medline and Henry Schein. Representatives of those companies were expected to attend a meeting with Mr. Trump at the White House on Sunday.

There are still states that are basically acting like nothing serious is happening.
At this point, I’m not sure how it will be possible to NOT have that many cases unless there’s a vaccine and/or the summer warmth diminishes its communicability/strength. How many thousands have had it already/or have it right now and just don’t/didn’t know about it? Not sure what effect knowing that there’s already been tens of thousands of cases already will have. On hand, knowing there have been that many cases and knowing the fatality rate drops and that people have developed antibodies to fight off reinfection would be reassuring and allay fears and ease the minds of anxiety ridden people looking for worst case scenarios on Twitter. On the other hand, people might not take it as seriously and the virus spreads faster and puts more vulnerable people at risk or we find that humans aren’t developing effective enough antibodies at which point it seems like game over anyway.
As for the 100,000—200,000 deaths: Is Fauci saying these deaths will be in addition to the flu deaths each year or make up a sizable number of the 10,000–50,000+ people who die from the flu each year as those vulnerable people seem like the ones most likely to face covid19 mortality cases? Probably impossible to know for sure (i.e., would someone who dies from covid19 have died from contracting the flu, etc.).

Wrong here is the verbiage you missed about the facts within the article:
"The JAMA study that came to this conclusion was conducted in Singapore. To assess the ability of the virus to survive in the air, researchers developed what one expert described as “bizarre experiments done under very ideal controllable experimental conditions.” Researchers used a rotating drum to suspend the aerosols, and provided temperature and humidity levels closely simulating hospital (and not real world) conditions. Dr. Marr commented the experimental setup might be less comfortable for the virus than a real-life setting."
= the controlled lab environment was less likely to reveal airborne than the real world is and still revealed it

We’ve (if “we” means humanity) always lived in this timeline, but many of us have been fortunate enough to live lives that aren’t directly adversely affected that we know of at least. Now as there’s a direct threat right at our doorsteps, we feel how powerless and expendable as pawns we really are. But if you ask the people living lives elsewhere, yeah, they’ve always lived in this timeline.

50k tests per day is a start but not NEARLY enough to get people tested to see where we are with the virus and who is asymptomatic, etc. President Trump said the company with the 15 minute tests will try to deliver 50k each day. They are also testing hydrochloroquine plus zithromax on 1,100 patients in NYC

Re: Semi-OT: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Discussion Thread VI (Don't Read Post 1 & FAQ)
Current Utah statistics:
** 602 positive diagnoses from a base of 11,312 tests administered to people showing symptoms
** 95% of tests are negative, meaning they have the flu or some other viral infection
** 2 deaths have occurred so far, resulting in a fatality rate of 0.33%
** Both fatalities were patients with underlying conditions
** If we assume that there are at least another 600 or so people out there with the infection who have not been tested, the fatality rate drops into the 0.15% - 0.20% range, which is indeed comparable with seasonal flu.
I assume we'll continue to social distance and watch the data for another week or so, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if people started going back to work in mid-April with some basic precautions. At least a dozen or two dozen other states are similar.

Right now, 50% of U.S. recorded cases and 40% of deaths so far are concentrated in NY and NJ. More importantly, 33% of tests administered in NY are coming back positive, compared to under 10% everywhere else. In NJ, 36% of tests are coming back positive. The government is justified to ban travel to and from those areas, imo. I'm assuming that the only reason they didn't is because the fatality rate is relatively low and the majority of fatalities are people over the age of 65 with underlying health conditions.

Those of us who are aware of the consequences of capitalism aren't surprised as we knew that we were always fuel for the machine.
This was not a question of a few rogue employees, Rattan explained. Walmart had a national problem. Worse, the prosecutors contended, the company was a repeat offender. Walmart had agreed to a settlement with the DEA seven years earlier in which it had promised to improve its controls over the abuse of opioid prescriptions. Still the problems persisted. That’s why the prosecutors believed they needed to pursue the extraordinary path of a criminal prosecution. As they concluded, Brown was emphatic, telling Rosenstein: “We have to act.”
A fine would not be a sufficient deterrent, the DEA’s Dhillon added, since Walmart “has more money than it knows what to do with.”
“Not that there’s anything wrong with that,” Rosenstein responded, according to five people familiar with the investigation. “We are all capitalists here.”

I'm watching the virus task force briefing right now (it's ongoing as I write this). Based on the dates and information that Trump is talking, it's clear (IMO) that the White House is following closely the University Of Washington model here:
https://covid19.healthdata.org/projections
So keep your eye on that model, I think. It changes (adjusts with new data) every day, I'm pretty sure.
