Packers 2020 Offseason Thread - Pack sign WR Funchess (pg. 25)
I believe Blake is pretty meh but he’s not completely off base. Some of the breakdowns I’ve watched about the GB defense defense made me scratch my head. Gap responsibility was all over the place

Re: Packers 2020 Offseason Thread - Pack sign WR Funchess (pg. 25)
Your statement true as it might be is hard to swallow how in the hell can a team 14 15 16 weeks into a NFL season still have gap breakdowns majes zero sence almost like watching the DBs with their arms up week 17 saying where was my help another blown assignment.
Whose to blame cant be all on coaching can it ?.I mean do our LBs suck that bad or have such a low football IQ that gap breakdowns are still happening week 16 seems like every year its either the D backfield not being on the same page all year same mistakes week after week or its our LBs who constantly have gap breakdowns. WTH

I'm very torn with Pettine....my biggest issue is this guy put up top 10 defenses everywhere before here, but I just don't get the sense he survives this season, unless something or someone comes in and all the pieces magically come together.

Yeah I don't know about him. Is it a matter of talent? There was basically nothing next to KC on the DL so getting gashed isn't a surprise and Blake wasn't a guy who could win his matchups in any situation. But he also had some great talent on the edges and in the back end.

Re: Packers 2020 Offseason Thread - Pack sign WR Funchess (pg. 25)
If that’s true about Pettine saying that to Blake then he’s a very dysfunctional coordinator. He either set Blake up for failure because he didn’t think he was good enough or thought way to highly of Blake and thought he could handle such a monster role.
Either way Pettine is a clown. I thought the signing was fine to try and salvage the last year of MM not being a waste because of Rodgers age. Shame on MLF for allowing him to stick around for a 2nd year under him.
I can see some good changes coming if we stay healthy, I like the Kirksey signing and I also like Clark and King in contract years. Year 2 of Savage and Amos should improve as well. So there’s a lot to look forward to from the D plus any new rookies we bring in. If Pettine has the D looking like he promised it would look 3 seasons ago then he doesn’t bother me. If we look like the ghost of Dom Capers again in year 3 then he needs fired immediately.

I absolutely think that's its all about talent and the DL more so.When you have a talented front 4 (sf) they can make your LBs and DBs look really good but when you have only KC and then guys like lowry n Lancaster do you expect the results to be any different.
Im putting more blame on talent than i am pettine guy has **** for LBs n zero next to KC.
Im not even sure you can blame him for the constant miscommunication 15 weeks into the season

Yeah, I just can't excuse the DC from such an embarrassing effort in a game to get to the Super Bowl. I couldn't excuse it with Dom, and I can't excuse it with Pettine.

I agree we need to be better defensively but didnt Pettine have a year of a terrible defense talent wise (and young w/CBs)?
Last year being the first with some actual talent?
This is his 3rd year.

You are probably being rational but I haven’t been ecstatic with player development, and again, not sure a run defense has ever been more embarrassed then we were on such a big stage. The complete inability to see it coming coupled with the complete inability to adjust still pisses me off

Not sure the money was the same but if you compare the saints O with the packers O how can you not want tonplay for NO
The Saints offense looks unstoppable on paper, with Brees, Thomas, running backs Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray, tight end Jared Cook, wideout Tre'Quan Smith and the entire starting offensive line returning. A line where brees gets sacked less than 25x a year

Agree with this view.
We'll never win a SB with Pettine. People can quote me. He's my MM equivalent to rilamann.
Making Mostert look like Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson with an inability to make even rudimentary adjustments is all the proof I need. Think Lafleur could've been overridden by Murphy.

Re: Packers 2020 Offseason Thread - Pack sign WR Funchess (pg. 25)
Mark Murphy is more than likely the nagging problem with the organization that’s cost us a huge chunk of Rodgers prime with minimal success. Unless you’re a clown like Murphy and you value NFC North championships and simply making the playoffs as “successful” seasons. Murphy has proven over and over again to be a dog **** decision maker. Letting TT, DC and MM continue to sleep walk through the seasons because of 2010 for nearly a full decade before any drastic changes were made was flat out pathetic and maddening. Even basically allowed them to gracefully bow out of the organization when any strong and smart team president/owner would’ve canned them years prior.
When MM DC and TT constantly trotted out 7th round draft picks as starters, we were becoming distinctly known as a franchise as an UDRFA HAVEN, we had no depth on the roster past marginal starters at most
positions, we rode the coattails of a hall of fame QB all the while penny pinching during FA and sticking to some bull TT draft philosophy that stopped working in a crash and burn sort of way. Even to the point we had to miss the playoffs back to back years some 8 years or so AFTER our Super Bowl run before any type of change was made. It was Murphy and Mark Murphy only that allowed that to continue for as long as it did.
And Murphy allowing Pettine to stay after 2 bogus years is just the start of his process. It’s either gonna take 2-4 more failing seasons or something drastic from MLF to get Pettine out the door if we continue to allow an ass clown to make those decisions.
We started a Fire Kidd thing because he was the worst. It’s WAYYYYYYY past due for a “Step Down Murphy” thing to get him TF out of town finally.
Just my thoughts on our fearless leader. Saw his name brought up, he honestly disgusts me and it’s easier to just pretend like he doesn’t exist anymore.

Murphy seems to have done well with oversight on the marketing side of the franchise: stadium remodel, atrium, packer HOF, etc. When he's crossed over into football operations, then it's been a much rockier path.

It’s fair to bring up the positives Murphy has done as team
President, I’ll bite. But it’s also unfair to the fan base to continue to run the team into the ground. The business aspect of the team is obviously a huge part of running the franchise but if your mind is clearly only functional in that 1 aspect, then it’s time to step down. I mean TT did the same thing, he loves the draft and didn’t want the GM responsibilities anymore... he stepped down and became a scout consultant or whatever. Murphy needs to do the same thing if that’s what he cares about is making sure the team and city make money and hold legacy appearance. Let a better decision maker run the team and Murphy can create his own position as PR Director or some bull like that. I’d say that’s a win win for everyone?

Maybe its just me but it seems like it takes the board like forever to make decisions as thats who i was told are the ones who dictate to murph to make changes am i wrong ....if so maybe its then time to get board directors who actually have a pulse on whays going on
