I've been watching Ben Gibbard off-and-on while he's been doing 1-2 hr sets on YouTube daily the past week-plus. It's worth checking out if you're a DCFC fan. He does some good covers, too.

It's really reminded me that, though their catalog is hit-and-miss for me, there are still a lot of hits for me. They're still producing music to this day, about 20 years later, that I love listening to.

I admit to being a terrible judge of talent and having minimal knowledge of the game of basketball.

I LOVE Prine and hope he recovers. Joan Baez did a nice cover of Hello in There as she wished him and his wife well:

Neil Young performed his second fireside concert and posted it on his website. Believe the first one can be found there as well.

The fact that Prine wrote Hello in There in his early 20s is a magnificent testament to the profound empathy undergirding his cheekiness, wit, and bewildering wordplay. For my money, one of the greatest songwriters to ever do it. More accessible and fun than Dylan, but no less insightful.

Fountains of Wayne songwriter Adam Schlesinger passed away of C19 complications. Welcome Interstate Managers is an album I discovered a decade after it was a huge hit. Power pop masterpiece.

Choice cut for me right here. My generation's version of Big Star's "Thirteen."

Their cover of that Bowling for Soup song Stacy's Mom is almost better than the original.

Dark Waves has been a staple on my playlists for five years, but I didn't actually check on them to see what they've put out until tonight. What a bummer. I love their sound, don't think there's a song of theirs I don't love, and all they've done is an EP and a couple singles.

We needed more from this dude.

He's been cowriting a ton of music because his record label won't let him drop his album or release him.

This is one of my all-time most listened to tracks and favorites - I listen to it a lot, sometimes on repeat, when I'm travelling/at the airport to let it zone me out with my NC headset filtering out the 'loud place'. Not the meaning of the song, mind you, but it does the trick.

Anyway, recently found this version randomly on YouTube from a recommendation and I've been watching it daily since.

Bummer about Prine. His first album will always be my favorite, but so many gems throughout.

Hey kids, give me some "this album is beautiful" tips for me to sit in a comfy chair with headphones on and some whisky.

My tip for you? Do this whilst listening to Radiohead's Hail to the Thief. It will make you smile.

Not sure it’s whiskey sipping music, but Portishead Dummy is a pretty good sit in a chair and get faded album.

I like RX Bandit's Mandala but to each his own. They started off as a ska band but evolved into progressive rock. The album starts pretty hype with its first 4 songs and mellows out for a few songs before building back up.

Nathaniel Rateliff just came out with a pretty chill acoustic album.
