Im just saying frank because dsj has little to no value now.

Honestly not sure that Frank has that much more value. No thanks to the Knicks overall lack of player development and plan.

Cole may not be the passer LaMelo is, but he give effort on defense and can shoot the ball much better.

Jason Kidd, Lowry, Donovan Mitchell, Ja Morant, Kemba, Danny Green....Conley, Rozier, Jrue Holiday were just above 30% but improved a lot....Fox is getting there too

Green, Conley, and Rozier weren't lottery picks so you can eliminate them. Jason Kidd's jumper didn't get better until his 14th year in which he shot an average of .33 from 3. and Other than passing he plays great defense. The only one on that list that became exceptional was Danny Green, everyone else was still average to below average or just decent. If we were to pick LaMelo Knicks fans are going to be eating him alive, worse than Frank who currently has a career avg. of .311 yet he is increasing and Kevin Knox at .337 (higher than Kidd's avg). We need better shooting on this team! Guys that can come in shooting higher than .34 starting out. My choice stays with Killian, Cole , and Haliburton.

Green .402 (the only great shooter)
Lowry .366
Fox .335
Rozier .371
Kemba .360
Mitchell .355
Kidd .332
Holiday .355

Melo, we already have Mitch. Plus, we're not going to get nos. 1 or 2. You're setting yourself up for disappointment. If we fall in the 4 through 8 range, who you got?

Wiseman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mitch

I know we probably gonna miss out on the top 3 tho. Knicks are most likely getting Cole Anthony. Not a big fan but if we get Kenny Atkinson as coach then I can talk myself into it I guess.

I like Killian Hayes a lot too but he is shooting below 30% from 3 combined for the season. Cole Anthony's shooting has been shaky, even Edwards. A lot of people were down on Ja and Fox cause there shooting was suspect, but I would take them in a second. If you put too much stock into 3 point shooting you would miss out on Ja, Fox, Zion, DMitchell, SGA, etc...

I agree we need shooting, but a lot of these kids need to work on their shooting...3 point shooting is something players do improve. It is important, just wouldn't put everything into shooting. Even if we draft Cole/Killian/Haliburton...they will probably get ripped apart too if expectations are too high. Seems like whoever we draft will probably need some time and may not be a star.

Exactly. People are getting carried away with the shooting craze and focusing way too much on apparently just Ball's shooting. Using shooting to mask what basically is just a dislike for Ball's personality (or family or flash or whatever). Shooting is most definitely not a premium for most of the top prospects with high upside that the Knicks should be focused on.

but is that your guy. Just curious If 3toheadmelo was appointent GM starting today by Leon Rose. We land the 7th pick (lets say most likely outcome).

We all assume to top 4 in no order is:

Edwards
Ball
Wiseman
Avdija

I don't want to assume anyone else in the top 10 goes because it can change so drastically but I assume the 4 guys above are sure fire bets to go in top 5.

So you are the GM and you have the following guys possibly on the board

While Hayes and Haliburton could very well be better choices (there is more of a sell job) with those guys. Cole Anthony placates to the average fan as a "name" on draft night.*

So we are aligned there I just was curious how you ranked them.

Hard to predict player order when the team order hasn't been established yet but there are some teams who we can predict their targets.

Atlanta likely isn't going to be looking to draft a backup PG with their top pick so they are one team that I can see trading down if they fail to land Edwards. Doubt they have interest in Wiseman because of Collins and Capela. Backup PG and wing depth is their likely goal.

Golden State will probably look at Wiseman as their main target. If they don't land him they can look to fill any backup position including backup PG so they can take anybody.

Cavs are very likely to go after either a wing or stretch 4 so they will have some options there. Very doubtful they take a PG.

Detroit can look to fill many positions so it's hard to predict where they go but if I was to guess I would say PG is their main priority.

Chicago is very likely to target a PG

Charlotte is very likely to target a big or a 2 guard

Washington is very likely to target a PG

Phoenix could go in different directions but likely a stretch 4

This draft could see a lot of teams moving up or down via trades

agreed I do think however in the top 5

Wiseman
Edwards
Ball
Deni

will go. I haven't seen any of them mocked outside of the top 5 really. So regardless of team they will probably go in top 5 and if a team doesn't want them they probably will trade it. Like Golden State for example could just trade out of the pick if whoever is on the board they don't want.

for example lets say Minnesota wins the lottery

they pick

Edwards

Detroit or CHI gets the 2nd pick - they pick Ball

The knicks get the 3rd pick. Even though I think they are going to target a guard I don't think they would pick Cole Anthony/Hayes/Haliburton 3rd with Wiseman or Deni on the board. I think at the minimum they find a trade partner for someone that wants to move up and get Wiseman for sure.

That is why I think the those 4 will go in the top 5 regardless of the order because of the value set of where those guys will be picked.

I understand that he’s a better overall talent but then we’d have to move Mitch and start building around Wiseman, a center. It’s like having Embiid who the Sixers are taking about trading.

Probably out of those 6:

tier 1:
Okongwu or Hayes (top tier of that group) - depending on team need (I think both have the highest ceilings)

tier 2:
Haliburton or Okoro - i think both guys have glue guy floors with the potential to be better depending if they can contribute more on offense

tier 3:
Toppin and Anthony - Toppin I don't see as a great transition to the NBA. The scoring PF doesn't really have great value in the NBA especially if you don't really defend the paint or versatile enough to defend the perimeter. Cole Anthony is kinda a unkown for me. He's got a lot of talent but his lack of effeciency and vision/playmaking for a point scare the sh*t out of me because RJ struggles from the same thing so having two guys like that would be tough to play with.

But I can see anyone that can make a case for any of the 6 like you said. They are all grouped together.

I understand that he’s a better overall talent but then we’d have to move Mitch and start building around Wiseman, a center. It’s like having Embiid who the Sixers are taking about trading.

Nuggets seem to be doing just fine with Jokic. So are the Lakers with AD. Bucks also building around Giannis, another big man. Miami Heat with Bam... etc. Lots of winning teams have great big men.

Trade Mitch for a point guard and draft Wiseman.

But Jokic is the teams best playmaker (wiseman isn't that)

AD is the best defensive big in the game (wiseman won't ever be near that)

Giannis is a forward (who the whole offense runs through as a pick and roll ball handler) wiseman isn't that.

I see why you like Wiseman so much especially since you like Ayton. I think Wiseman at his best can put up Ayton type numbers. And if he improves defensively like Ayton did he can be good. But is that how you build a winner in the NBA? Not sure.

but is that your guy.

Okongwu
Toppin
Anthony
Hayes
Haliburton
Okoro

that is what I've seen out of most top 10's. But how would you rank the 6 listed above right now?

*I do agree I would think the knicks would lean Cole Anthony because its the safe choice for a GM. The average NY fan knows he is from NY, they know his father, and he played a big college. While Hayes and Haliburton could very well be better choices (there is more of a sell job) with those guys. Cole Anthony placates to the average fan as a "name" on draft night.*

So we are aligned there I just was curious how you ranked them.

I prob just take Obi if he's still available. After that, Idk how to rank them. They're all pretty close as prospects to me.

Where do you rank them?

Probably out of those 6:

tier 1:
Okongwu or Hayes (top tier of that group) - depending on team need (I think both have the highest ceilings)

tier 2:
Haliburton or Okoro - i think both guys have glue guy floors with the potential to be better depending if they can contribute more on offense

tier 3:
Toppin and Anthony - Toppin I don't see as a great transition to the NBA. The scoring PF doesn't really have great value in the NBA especially if you don't really defend the paint.

Scoring PF's do have some value. Like John Collins, Lauri Markannen..etc. You just gotta make sure you have a C who can protect the rim.

I think odds are greater that we will try to trade up then trade back. But as Hezi said, really hard to predict until the order shakes out.
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce

Obi and John Collins are the exact same age...that doesn't scare you at all?

John Collins is going into his 4th year in the NBA...Obi was beasting kids at Dayton. Will that fully translate?

also those guys need to play with playmakers. Collins numbers sky rocketed with Trae Young there. Lauri has had a horrible down year with no PG on his team. They are reliant on others and the NBA has gone away with 2 traditional bigs playing together.
