Wife has a friend in Illinois who lives with her mother (who has serious lung cancer). She's symptomatic for COVID-19 and they refused to run her test because she hasn't been in contact with anyone who was infected.... even after pleading with them because of her mom's lung cancer.

I've also heard a couple of stories like this from Florida.

At this point if you need to be tested you should just tell them you've been in contact with someone who is infected. Make up a co-worker or something

That 60K probably created more risk for themselves by going wherever they needed to go to get the test. Ex. being around the 1/7 who were positive and the people who tested them.

I’m not sure what the answer is, but I’m sure all this obsession w/ testing isn’t helping the social distancing effort.

Florida was a special case where a whole bunch of seniors were bulk tested in a 1 or 2 areas due to local testing facilities.

That's the only reason their total test numbers don't look terrible. In reality their testing situation is abysmal. My wife knows multiple symptomatic people there who can't get tested

That's not true. Florida tested a bunch of seniors from the Villages. All had no symptoms and were negative.

UF and Shands hospital tested them early on.

Do not do this! This is horrific advice.

There are in fact not two sides to every story.

What does CNN have anything to do with this? I mean I am not a fan of CNN or Fox but your post doesn't seem relevant to the video you just quoted.

What the governor of Georgia just said was inexcusable in any shape or form. "People can transmit this disease before showing any symptoms", you can't be just finding that out in the past 24 hours. It doesn't matter which news channel reported that, it's shameful.

What other damn choice do people have? My wife's friend can't care for her down syndrome son until she finds out if she has COVID-19 or not? What's the answer? They won't test her and her family is in crisis

Maybe, not every story. But, for CNN, they only "promote" one side to every story. Their ratings are at the bottom of most categories because of their bias. CBS ain't bad and I been digging Skynews lately.

71 infected with coronavirus at Sacramento church. Congregation tells county 'leave us alone'

Seventy-one members of the Bethany Slavic Missionary Church near Rancho Cordova or people associated with congregation members have been afflicted with the virus, county officials say, making this one of the larger outbreak clusters in the country. One parishioner has died, officials said, and the pastor is sick.

Sacramento health officials say they have made several attempts via phone and in person this week to talk to church leaders, but have been rebuffed. The cases involve residents of Yolo and Placer counties as well.

Ignore the cnn part. In fact, I didn’t even watch it myself. Just listen to the governor say that he learned something yesterday that the rest of the work has known for months. It’s unbelievable.

I agree, we should leave them alone. Reject their calls, reject their request for testing, reject their hospitalization, and they should be grateful that they are not charged with mass murder. Lock them into that church with their beloved pastors so they can have all the services they want. Any attempt to save those beyond hopeless is a waste of precious resource that is much needed elsewhere.

Actually it's not we should leave them alone, it's they should leave us alone.

How fitting that they live in or near a county named Yolo... You can’t make that up

In fairness, he sent the letter to the higher ups at the same time he leaked it to the Chronicle. The Navy has acted on testing and keeping those infected sailors at Guam in isolation. As a captain I understand his concerns but you cannot send a letter to the ones that make decisions above you and then mail the same letter out to news publications as if the Navy is not reacting to the request. He lost some confidence there.

I get why this is happening. He almost certainly knew the consequences of doing this and acted to protect his men; that's pretty amazing.

Especially considering being the captain of a carrier is a plum job which likely means you are marked for advancement.

Understand your opinion but this is the Navy. His position is serious and he needs to go through the proper channels. Last thing we need is to announce to the world our defenses confidential and/or privileged information. What he did in my opinion is the opposite of a leader.

The rest of the world was pretty much as unprepared as the USA has been. I blame China's disinformation, not our government for our unpreparedness. As far as our government, they were focused in a battle of impeachment from Both Sides as a high priority during the initial stages of Coronavirus.

I wonder what our Scientists with the CDC was thinking from November thru February. Because, they should have made this a priority for our Politicians to address than blaming the Politicians themselves.

Anyways, in other news, I just read this article on yahoo regarding China being more complicit in the Virus. May be conspiracy, but is a great read on countries communications regarding bioweapons. Kind of wierd that a Chinese person was caught trying to bring virus's into USA labeled "Antibodies" two months before Coronavirus.

I made a mistake, it was the great recession and that was not that long ago.
