4 years ago today we witnessed one of my proudest moments as a Celtics fan. We walked into Golden St. down and said "No, not today" to a juggernaut. 54 wins by Golden St at home. Their all-stars in front of a sold out Oracle and no Jae Crowder. HOLD MY F=**KIN' BEER.

and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

As confirmed by stats, these are mostly Tatum setting up Brown either in the fast break or in the half court. Rarely will you see Brown assisting to Tatum unless it's in transition. Maybe partly because defense pays more attention to JT than JB esp in the half court.

Tatum to Brown assists = 43
Brown to Tatum assists = 15

Brown developing into a great finisher has been the perfect complement to his teammates' playmaking.

A couple of things jump out at me when I see these clips:

1) This really has been a lost season for Rob Williams. At one point he was considered the heir apparent for the starting big job. His lethal blend of athleticism and shotblocking was supposed to be the final ingredient that starting lineup needed. Injuries have curbed all that good momentum. Even beyond proving that he can stay healthy, he still has a lot to learn about where to be on the floor at both ends. Not saying that I no longer think he can get there but he really has to prove it to me now. I would no longer be comfortable going into next season with him as the primary backup big now. I hope Kanter opts in or we would have to replace him. Rob shows flashes but I need more consistency and it's hard to work on that when you've lost 30+ games to injury.

2) Brad Stevens' set depend on motion and intelligence. The ballhandler is almost at all times reading the potential for at least 2 if not 3 separate options at any given moment. Usually, 2 teammates moving in different directions off the ball and that man with ball has to be able to read which option is best. Also, his sets are always designed toward getting a guy the ball on the run, moving TOWARD the basket at all times. Get athletic, talented guys going downhill and attacking the middle of the defense. And now we're finally beginning to see what Stevens envisioned for a team he coached when he took this job. Quick attacking ballhandlers that can move well off the ball. Rangy quick wings than can handle, shoot and pass. And bigs capable of making the read from the top of the arc, shoot, or roll hard to the rim. In Brad's ideal world, he assembles a team in which the facilitation can come from anywhere on the court.

I usually won't call a game where the Celtics lost must-see, but that game against the Clippers in LA was high-level basketball on both ends. The world was robbed of a Celtics-Clippers 7-game Finals series. I will never forgive that virus for this (among other more serious, terrible things).
