Diakite just doesn't have good enough hands to make it in the NBA, imo. He could almost get away with them if he was the second coming of Ben Wallace, but he isn't.

With the 9th pick we select Aleksej Pokusevski to tempt fate twice with another high drafted raw gangly Czech-Serb. With the 38th pick we select Reggie Perry to double down on our second round, tweener, under the rim athlete, burly physique, SEC player slot.

Just curious Ruz. I’ve never considered his hands to be a liability. Is there a scouting report that dings him for that?

No, I haven't seen any scouting reports on him. It's just my observation from watching him several games. Just curious, how high do you see him going in mocks?

I think I’ve seen him as high as the early 20s.

I had really been hoping he’d be there mid 2nd round, but I think that ship has sailed.

He just kept getting better as the season went along. By the end, he was borderline dominant, especially on the defensive end.

We’ll never win anything with that center rotation.

Switch out Nesmith for Diakite and I’d like it better.

A late game, small ball rotation of...

Wall
Beal
Bertans
Brown JR
Mamadi

Would be pretty dynamic.

Dude... we can't solve all the Wizards' problems in one draft! That was not the point of this "game" -- it would be impossible.

The point of this game is to figure out a way to extract the maximum value from the 2020 draft. No matter who that is, we are still not going to "win anything" next year. Or even compete to win anything. At its best, this team didn't win anything, & our current team doesn't begin to be as good as our 2016-17 team.

Even that team wasn't all that good. The glorious total of 49 wins in the Eastern Conference doesn't really mean much.

There is no position where we would not want to improve. & that's true of any team. &, of course Bryant & Wagner aren't where we would stop in developing the Center position. For one thing, based on the evidence so far, Moritz Wagner isn't much more than a marginal rotation NBA player.

I don't know what would make anyone draft Diakite. There isn't a chance in the world that he becomes a rotation NBA player.
