Also, its true that the national stockpile was reduced during the H1N1 crisis, but was not replenished under this administration because the thought was they could just get it from the private companies directly when needed. They obviously didn't take into account that the entire planet would be placing orders at the same time during a global pandemic. It kind of defeats the whole point of having a national stockpile in the first place. Not going to be able to deflect this one on Obama either, anyone else have another attempt?

Have a feeling we all might be getting a TB-bcg vaccination in a couple months. Places that have mandatory TB-bcg vaccinations, like Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong, are barely getting coronavirus. It could be that the older people who's vaccine wore off, in those places, are the people getting it.

The countries that have a mandatory bcg vaccination, have low rates of coronavirus.

Again to illustrate this isn't about Democrat or Republican, George Bush was obsessed with the subject of a pandemic as well. And yes, he even read about it in a book called "The Great Influenza". A book about the 1918 pandemic, not the 1917 one that Trump keeps referring to. Bush had a lot on his plate during his tenure, but he tried to sound the alarm and prepare just the same. This also rebuts Trump's claims that nobody knew this could happen, or nobody thought about it. Both Bush and Obama prioritized this in their administrations. Here is the article.

It would be nice to know what is going on. I feel like there's an information overload and no real answers as to how long we will be on lockdown.

When I watch the briefings I usually come out more confused and angry than I went in. Cuomo talks a good talk but he has nothing to do with me as a Floridians. Dewine as well. We are just stuck down here below Georgia's (Please Use More Appropriate Word) governor and with our own Trump lite. Am I supposed to be watching more local news?

Is channel 9 eyewitness news the trusted source for our national pandemic? Lol.

The YouTube news option tends to be a 30 minutes cycle of news with not a lot of new info.

Even though I was knocked out for 1/2 my two weeks off, I'm going stir crazy.

Spain- 126,168 confirmed cases( +3263 increase), Recoveries- 34,219(+3706)

1. Georgia, Texas and Washington now have 3 consecutive days(Thursday, Friday,Saturday) of low confirmed cases each day.
2. Unfortunately the other top 9 are still doing bad(Florida,California, Illinois, Louisana, Mass, Michigan,New Jersey,New York and Penn).
3. New York has almost all the recoveries in the USA with 10,478 out of 14,607.
4. Now following Connecticut as of right now- 5276 confirmed cases. It's a small state and I heard their peak is a month away.

Today's numbers as of 7:30 pm from bing.com/covid

USA-336,537 confirmed cases(+24,782 increase), Recoveries-17,376(+2943 increase), Deaths- 9611(+1204 increase)

Germany- 100,123 confirmed cases, Recoveries- 25,280, Active cases- 73,259

1. Georgia, Texas and Washington now have 4 consecutive days(Thur,Fri,Sat,Sun) of low confirmed cases each day.
2. Florida, Lousiana and Massachussets kept their increase in new confirmed cases under 1000 today. Is it because we are on the weekend and something about there are less tests/ less workers? No because today California increased by 2137 cases, New Jersey by 3365 increase, New York well over 5000 increase and even Pennsylvania increased over 1000 cases. So we'll find out by the end of Monday what Florida, Louisana and Massachussets show by their increase in confirmed cases.

3. New York has most of the recoveries in the USA with 12,187 out of 17,394
4. Spain is really good at their recoveries per day, Another almost 4000 recoveries today, Spain has now had 4 consecutive days of/at around 4000 recoveries per day.
5. To me it appears the country we should be idolizing the most with this coronavirus is SPAIN especially their large recoveries these past 4 days. Italy is the 2nd country we look at, followed by South Korea.
6. USA is catching up to Italy with recoveries- USA- 17,394 recoveries VS Italy- 21,815 recoveries
7. Now tracking Germany OMG I slept on Germany on the leaderboard but I now I see they hit 100,000 confirmed cases.
8. USA recoveries will catch Germany soon. USA- 17,394 recoveries vs Germany- 25,280 recoveries

Watching that White House Press conference at the end: There was a reporter that finally asked my question of "How many Asymptomatic people are out there". Dr Fauci replied saying something "It is an estminate of around 25% to 50% but that's just an estimate and we won't have scientific data until antibodies test are done.

My question I think might be slight different because I would ask my question like this " How many unconfirmed cases do you think are out there of people that caught the virus and have already recovered?".

We should put the Over/Under for How many people that are unconfirmed cases have caught the virus and recovered? If the over/under is 1 million, everybody would go over and everybody might still go over if the over/under is 5 million. But even at 5 million, I'm still taking the 0VER.

It seems like a very hard metric to get an idea of until the antibody tests are widely used. Even then, how do we test people? Do we make it part of your physical? How do you compel people to take a test that does nothing for them?

some may be culture. In Asia, it is very common place for people to wear masks, especially if they are sick. Meanwhile in USA (in my state of GA)

what does it mean by "Keep an eye on (state)"

as for the "idolizing". i dont think they are doing anything special, they just had more people sick. Doesnt a virus either kill a person or burn itself off? so with the large amount of people sick, they will start to recover. So a large amount of people recovering doesnt mean they are doing anything special, except keeping them alive during the virus.

The only number with significant validity is (sadly) deaths...based on test availability, who is getting tested and why, it’s hard to really value new case #’s. It would seem that if the new case trend is jumping up, there are many many undiagnosed/ unconfirmed new cases...everyone should act as if THEY are carrying it already. That is a much higher standard of distancing than “wash your hands”.

Good luck everybody. Let’s be smart. Peace.

but...there have been deaths in areas and also initially, that people were not tested after the fact. so they might have died specifically for one reason, but likely due to having the virus.

Agree, patients dying before they get tested aren't necessarily getting "counted", but based on the history, exam, and signs and symptoms, they probably have COVID.

However, I learned yesterday, that the medical examiners in my area are taking a lot of these cases and testing them after the fact for epidemiological purposes.

Would love to know if the ESPN reporter that died had it back in December. It would tell us if this is even more widespread than we thought:
