Great guy. And man do I feel sorry for him now after being with the Hornets stuck going nowhere for so long. Ouch.

So glad he is here.

Ive got a super hot take that I dont think many will like:

-If Kemba’s knee injury is bad and something he will be dealing with for the rest of the year, we should consider bringing him off the bench for the rest of the year to mitigate his wear and tear and give us some actual bench scoring.

Im guessing he may need surgery this summer given how its lingered. Feel this could give us the best chance to maximize our roster this season.

If Kemba was all-in on this, then I would be too.

In fact, to heat up the take, even if Kemba got back to 100%, him coming off the bench and still getting 30 minutes MIGHT make us a better team.

might.

I kinda like the Tatum stagger better. I'm not sure Kemba would be as effective in those lineups with Wanamaker/Semi/Grant/Romeo/Javonte/etc. I also like keeping Kemba with the starting unit for defense. The starters are tighter on everything and Theis is best at helping him on the pnr.

I don't like this simply because I love trolling the Celtics-need-bench-scoring guys from time to time.

Wishing for more reps for our starters together in preparation for the postseason. They've only appeared in 17 games and played 188 minutes together. If they need to restrict his minutes and/or rest him against weaker competition, do so. But we need our starting five to mesh even better the rest of the season. Keep starting Kemba whenever he plays. He could just play 6 or 7 minutes per Q if need be (start of 1st/3rd; end of 2nd/4th).

Almost 14-pt dropoff in ORtg and 9-pt dropoff in net rating going from Kemba to Smart.

Got to get his knee right. If rest can help, rest him in more games before the playoffs. We went through something similar post-Hayward's hand injury and foot issue around December-time. He's been awesome since the new year. We will need Kemba's A-game in the postseason. Hobbled, he could be a liability on both ends.

No one knows more than him how bad he has been. Clearly it is the knee. Hopefully he gets back to normal.

Kyrie is a basketball savant, mercurial and unpredictable. Maybe our chances with a title would be better with him than Kemba, maybe not. The comparisons were unavoidable like it or not.

But regardless of your feelings on the matter, Kemba is so so damn likeable. Seems like the perfect unassuming leader, one who is also willing to share the spotlight with some up and coming young players.

I think that we're going to have problems with Kemba and his knee, as time goes on.

This is a major concern as it's been 4 months now and he's still not right.

If he's not healed after 4 months, then Orlando, we have a problem.

Anybody know what the exact nature of the issue is, beyond just 'knee discomfort'? Remember when TA had that ongoing knee issue, and they'd just never say what the exact issue was?
