Old playoffs games on NBA TV

Post#1 » by wco81 » Sun Apr 5, 2020 9:57 pm

Been catching some of them.

So far they only showed the Warriors losing game 7 At Oakland but now they have game 7 at Clippers.

Obviously team took big jump next season. But Curry was 16-16 FT in that game. Imagine if he was getting even 2/3 the number of FT attempts.

Guess the league didn’t want him to dominate because his FT attempts are nowhere near what he should be getting.

Program guide isn’t reliable but supposedly game 6 at OKC is suppose to be on at 3 PM. That would be great, seeing probably Klay greatest game.

Now game 7 vs. OKC.

Warriors were down as much as 13 in the first half.

Klay after his great game 6 started out 0-7 and Curry wasn’t lighting it up earlier.

KD was shooting well but he passed a lot too. Westbrook took 13 shots and a couple of times Reggie said he was taking bad shots.

I’d forgotten that they played so much uphill.

Ok Klay hits a couple of tough 3s over Adams and Steph drills a 3 in Ibaka’s face early in the second half.

I think they had to turn shotmakers, not Kerr’s offense creating clean looks.

Curry getting switched on by Adams, a couple of easy 3 point looks off a couple of dribble crossover moves leads to 6 point run, erasing the Thunder lead.

Meanwhile Thunder are yelling at each other and Westbrook forces up a couple more forced shots.

Ooh KD was pissed on the bench, one of the asst. coaches had to calm him down.

Warriors were only up 6 at the time. But they had dominated the first half. Actually probably had led most of the series.

Actually, Steph rarely gets to the free throw line despite getting grabbed on every possession and despite him attacking the rim a lot.

He's the one superstar that doesn't get superstar calls.

Every now and then he'll be able to get a 4-point play, but he pretty much gets held on every off-ball possession and gets bumped/hacked on every drive with no whistle.

At least 4 pull up contested 3s made by Curry, including a gorgeous one on KD off a between the legs dribble.

Thunder were defending the off the ball stuff well in the first half, so Steph and Klay had to go to shotmaking on the Thunder big men, off the dribble.

I remember that year, Steph shot some insane percentage on pull up 3s. Not so much dancing on opponents as in this game but pulling up a lot in transition during the regular season, including a lot of 35 footers.

KD played well but it wasn’t until like the last 5-6 minutes of the game that OKC had KD initiate the offense instead of WB. He had like 25 points and maybe 15 shot attempts. WB had almost that many shots in the first half.

KD converted like 4 possessions when they put the ball in his hand but Curry was he one who played best, with those pull-ups but also some drives as well.

Curry caps it with Warriors up 7 with 48 secs left and he dribbles through the Thunder defense burning 20 seconds, sheds Roberson and makes another 3 to get them up 10 with 20 secs.

After the game WB walks off court but all the other Thunder players shake hands, hug it out with the Warriors players. Draymond said some things in KDs ear.

Game 7 at Rockets was fun to watch again.

Klay gets 3 fouls in the first quarter, then the fourth foul early in the third quarter.

Rockets were getting away with physical play getting 10 offensive rebounds in the first half, leading by as much as 15 points. But they allowed physical play elsewhere as Harden probably got fouled 2 or 3 times from beyond the arc which wasn’t called.

Curry struggles most of the game but then gets hot in the second half, particularly when Rockets were throwing up bricks. Two relocation corner 3s with Bell giving the ball back to him and sealing off defenders.

They also went after Ryan Anderson whenever he was in the game.

Fun watching CP3 getting pissed on the bench.

OK not a playoffs game but Lakers at Warriors in 2000, this is one of Antawn Jamison's consecutive 51-point games.

I just catch a little of it, they're in the 4th quarter and Warriors are down.

Really bad picture quality. I can only make out Dampier, Larry Hughes, Antawn and maybe Speedy Claxton. David Cowens is head coach.

Warriors posting Dampier who turns it over while being defended by Madsen and Larry Hughes and couple of times tries to take it to the rim.

Ugly basketball.

More importantly, not winning basketball.

Game 3 at Cavs, 2018. Warriors going for 3-0 lead again.

Cavs race out to as much as 13 points in the first half.

Curry and Klay can't get anything going. Actually they never get it going. It was KD who won this game, 43/13 including 6-9 from 3.

Cavs aggressively hold the Splash Brothers outside so they allow a lot of easy points to McGee and Bell, all on layups as they trap Curry and he just gives it to Bell for almost uncontested layups.

They don't really double KD though and he doesn't get stopped. He starts hunting for Love off switches and does work.

Curry does hit a key 3 off transition late in the game to give them cushion. Then KD ends it with a 30-35 foot 3 to put the Warriors up 6, probably what clinches second Finals MVP.

In truth, some of his shots were heat checks but he was hitting them, pulling on defenders right in front of him.

The bang! Game, feb 16, 2016, Saturday Nigh Prime Time game at OKC.

Warriors come in 52-5, with Curry scoring 51 vs. Orlando in previous game.

But Thunder come out with energy and lead most of the half, end up 11 points at half with KD scoring like 21 for them.

Warriors close the gap a bit in the Third and then Curry turns his ankle. Lisa Salter says there was screaming from the locker room which could be heard. They’re not sure who was screaming but it turns out it was Draymond screaming at Kerr, who apparently criticized Green for taking some shots.

While Curry is out, Thunder go up double digits again.

But Curry returns from the locker room with a slight limp, just under 6 min left in game and Thunder up 9. Then he starts lighting it up. They keep giving him the ball at top of the key and gets him switched on big men and he just cooks. A lot of quick crossover pull-ups or if the defender relaxes, pulling from 3-4 feet beyond the top of the key.

He would end up with 12 3 pointers, tying the record at the time.

He also took it to the hole several times, getting layups or FTs.

Klay had a good game over 30 points. But he started out 0-10 from 3 and didn’t hit his first 3 pointer until like 30 secs left in regulation when the Warriors were down and they needed a quick score.

This is the game where Warriors were down 2 with shot clock off and they trapped KD in the back court, forcing him to force a pass the Warriors got back. Iggy gets fouled as the clock runs out. He hits 2 FTs to tie the game with .7 secs.

In OT, Thunder score the first 5 points and then Steph beats KD off Trimble and foul him out of the game. Still they’re down 4 or 5 points, though Klay comes alive in Ozt and Curry keeps scoring.

They finally tie it with about 27 secs, Thunder go for game winner. Warriors rebound ball with 3-4 secs and Curry gets ball and pulls up a couple of feet past half court for game winner, officially a 32-footer. Roberson was set up outside the 3 point line waiting for Curry but Steph just pulled up and let it go.

12th 3-pointer of the game, 46 points, 53-5.

Game 6 at OKC.

Warriors started out okay, had a lead 6 minutes into the game. OKC finished up 23-20 but then scored the first 6 points to extend to. 29-20 lead in the second quarter. KD wasn’t hitting shots. Iggy was making him work. But WB was very effective pushing the ball and then going downhill. He got layups, FTs and he was hitting the midrange pull-up, which is why he was so hard to stop. Only thing he didn’t have going was 3 pointers but low turnovers and a lot of assists for him.

Kanter hurt them too, throughout the game, as OkC scored a lot in the paint and got second chance points.

Klay came in shooting 29% from 3 in the series, a big part of the reason the Warriors went down 3-1.

He hit 3 or 4 in the last 4-5 minutes to bring the Warriors within 5 at half time. Then he hit two 3s at the start of the third to give Warriors a brief lead. However, OkC builds up a double digit lead again, and the Warriors barely stay within 10 points at the end of 3.

Steph doesn’t return to the game until 7:30 in the game. Warriors are down 7 with just under 6 minutes left in the game. But the Klay flurry brings the team back. He’s hitting shots over KD and other defenders. Roberson does the best job, forcing him to put it on the deck and h doesn’t convert in the paint. But Roberson was in foul trouble, playing with 5 fouls.

They manage to tie the game with 2:30 left in the game on a Klay 3. Then an amazing sequence. First Iggy strips KD and then forces him to take a heavily contested shot. Then next Thunder possession he strips WB clean and passes ahead in transition to Klay for his 12th 3-pointer, not just a playoffs record but a single game record at the time, to give Warriors a 3 point lead with about 90 seconds.

The clincher is up 3, Curry gets switched on Ibaka, backs up and drives to the hole, hitting a contested layup over Ibaka for 5 point lead. Warriors shut down the Thunder’s next possession, then Curry ends the scoring with FTs after OkC is forced to foul.

At half time, Charles Barkley says KD is playing horribly, going hero ball.

But it’s amazing how effective the Warriors are defending him, making him take a lot of tough contested shot. He’s shooting a poor percentage in games 5 and 6. He still scores a lot of points but he isn’t erupting on high percentage like Klay, who was well over 50% from 3 and Curry, who was like 6-13.

In the fourth quarter, Warriors at one point had 8 3-pointers out of 11 made FGs.

As we know, KD was crazy efficient in the playoffs when he was with the Warriors. Amazing what spacing does, not to mention not always drawing the opposing team’s best defender all game and every game.

BTW...it's amazing how clutch Klay has become. I would put him over Curry in that department. Ever since he hit that baseline turnaround jumper to win against Indiana he has been super clutch. I think that Warriors have a 50/50% chance of winning game 7 against Raptors if Klay doesn't go down to injury.

@#$@#$$ Warriors should have been 5-0 in those 5 finals... :(

Watching Warriors last game against Denver playoffs....if you want to know why they moved on from Mark Jackson...11 turnovers in the final quarter and can't get the ball inbounded like three in a row lol.

And dang it...Warriors should have beat the Spurs in the next round. Clearly the better team. Oh well. Fun to watch Curry completely go off!

They show more highlights and post-game interviews than ESPN.

I think now that there aren't games playing, they are playing back various classics.

Suppose to show games from the 2013-14 season playoffs series, such as GSW-Den in the first round and GSW-San Antonio in the second round. Looking forward to watching those again.

Game 6, Den at GS, May 2013. Closeout game.

Nuggets come out strong, get 5 offensive rebounds in the first 3-4 minutes, build a little lead. They lead for most of the first half, couldn't push it to double digits.

Curry, Klay and Jack, the 3 leading scorers for the Warriors in the series, are like 3-14 and Curry only has 6 points in the first half. But Warriors are down only 2 at half. Bogut plays well, has at least 4 blocks in the first half, 8 points, 9 rebounds. Lee only able to play a few minutes early in the first quarter, then puts on T-shirt.

Curry hits a couple of 3s and Warriors build a lead up to 13 points. Jack pounds the ball a lot, looks to go to the basket when he can.

There's some talk about how physical they've been with Curry. Jackson accused the Nuggets of playing dirty.

They start doubling Curry, make a little run, closing to 4 points with about 4 minutes left in game. Yeah it's a completely different offense than what we've become used to. Curry obviously can create for himself. They also try to isolate Klay a lot off switches over smaller defenders.

It's astounding how poor the Nuggets shoot, not just from 3 but at the line. Yet they were a top 4 seed that year.

Bogut has a monster game, over 20 rebounds. Draymond very active, double double.

In the last 2 minutes, they turn it over several times in the back court, but had enough of a lead to hang on. 10 turnovers in the 4th quarter.
