98-99 season: when did you realize we were not gonna win?

At the time, I thought we had everything to win.

We came from the 98 season where we just destroyed the West. We lost to MJ in the finals, but he was no longer there.

The season was shorter, but I didn't think it could hurt us. We had the same team, our schemes were really good and we just had to replicate the motions to get there.

We got to the playoffs. Game 1 was a blowout vs Sacramento...

And then the problems started, with us needing a miracle in G4 to go trough.

Did you realize vs Sacramento that we were not going to win it all? Earlier in the season?

Just when we got eliminated?

I honestly thought at the begining that was our year. Man was I wrong.

When the Trail Blazers fans shook the hoop during key free throws by Bryon Russell in a close playoff game and the refs didnt care.

It was in 2000, not in 99

It was a long time ago but the Jazz laid an egg in the playoffs. They were still a great team but the Kings and Jailblazers both improved a lot from the previous year. The Jail Blazers had a tall and lanky team (Grant, Wallace) that caused problems for the Jazz. When the Jail Blazers beat us again the following year, then we knew the window had officially closed.
