As a Piston fan I'd give you Kennard for #10.

Question is how many Phoenix fans feel the same as you?

The real question will be does James Jones feel the same. I do think there was legit interest at the deadline.

So if the new pathway to the nba is through the G League, Then how is this going to affect college basketball. And more importantly, How prepared fundamentally will they be with the college experience. More or less depending upon circumstances??

Good question man.

IF we were to land at-

1-
I Would of course shop it for the best deal possible ( hopefully a veteran and additional assets)???

Deals I would consider would be:
Phoenix/Minnesota:
For Culver/ And the 16th pick.

Phoenix/New York:
The #1 pick for either the 6th pick and the 27th pick. At 6, Take Hayes. At 27, Take Jalen Smith or Amyr Sylla. *** Or trade for Dennis Smith Jr./ the 27th pick( take Jalen Smith or **Tyrell Terry perhaps) And Dallas's unprotected 2021 pick. Then in 2021 look to combine our pick and Dallas' pick to move up in that draft for an elite prospect.

Phoenix/ Chicago:
Oubre/ and the #1 for Markannen / and the 7th pick. (* At 7 take one of Avdija, Haliburton or Riller). Fill remaining gaps in free agency.

Phoenix/ Orlando:
Oubre/ the #1 for Gordon and the 16th pick. **( at 16 take Riller or Maledon or Cole Anthony If he falls.

*** Otherwise, IF no good deals available, At #1, I would take Toppin for a big, Or Melo Ball or Killian Hayes for a guard.

2- Toppin ( Big) or Ball for ( guard).

3- Ssme as option 1 or 2 honestly. So basically, my preference aside from trading back for additional assets, would be:

1- Toppin.
2- Ball.
3- Avdija.

Ultimately, I'd like to use this draft to load up on bench depth by trading back in a two for one type of deal potentially.

Good Stuff.

Again, Grant Riller near the very top in efficiency and isolation scoring. He has to be in the Suns top 3 for the draft.

This may sound weird but I actually think this could end up good for college basketball. Yes some elite talent will never go to college but that's only a small percentage and now you might see these elite programs actually recruit that next tier of guys and have them stay for more than a year which could lead to better actual play vs the system now where they basically have a new team each year.

From a development standpoint if done right this should benefit the players having a program dedicated to development and pro style strength and conditioning.

Ok, Yes there are very good and talented guards in the lottery that we could should have interest in. But outside of the lottery, I see tremendous potential and value with underrated and overall under the radar guards near the end of the first round. Or even into the 2nd round. Acquiring an additional pick ( **late first to early 2nd) would allow us to address our needs for a defensive 3 and D power forward first. And then still upgrade our backup guard position too. And at the lowest contractual cost with respect to the likely diminished/ restrictive cap. Now there are 3 potential point guard prospects that I feel are being drastically underrated and should fly under the radar, despite their immense talent, elite skillsets and tantalizing potential.

These 3 guards are:

1- Grant Riller-
6'3 192 lbs.
He easily tops my list for his advanced ballhandling skills, elite burst and efficiency in isolation scoring. He's nearly unstoppable in his penetration and ability to score around the rim. Also, His poise, and ability to hit BIG clutch shots is unbelievable. He has a lot of Fred Van Vleetand Deron Williamsto his overall game.

https://www.thestepien.com/2020/03/30/case-grant-riller/ .

2- Tyrell Terry-
6'2 160 lbs.
Tyrell Terry is not overtly big or strong or supremely athletic. But what he lacks in size, strength and elite athleticism, He makes up for with his elite dynamic shooting ability, crafty scoring, hustle defense and developing playmaking skills. But overall, it's his ELITE dynamic shooting/ scoring ability that makes him standout. He's got a bit of both Tre Young and Steph Curryin his overall game. He's got a knack for hitting big shots much like Tre, and he has a beautiful, fluid stroke and crafty, sleek scoring and dribble drive moves around the rim much like a young Steph Curry too. He's still relatively unknown to most, But he's really climbing up my big board with his impressive shooting and slick playmaking skills.

https://www.thestepien.com/2020/04/15/tyrell-terry-scouting-report/ .

3- Kira Lewis-
6'3 165 lbs.
What separates Kira Lewis from the other promising guards is his ELITE SPEED and his relentless attacking of the rim. He's also got good shooting mechanics, plays solid defense and has developing playmaking skills with impressive ball handling abilities. He's got a mix of Lou Williams and Dennis Schroder to his overall game.

https://www.thestepien.com/2019/12/07/kira-lewis-jr-scouting-report/ .

Now I understand that this draft is widely percieved to lack elite/ All star level prospects. However, I for my part do feel that this particular draft is great for addressing roster depth and also addressing needs that prospects have in their respective skillsets. I for my part would look to use this draft as a means to address our frontcourt needs at the 4 first, and then draft a steal at backup point guard later in the draft, Or even into the 2nd round.

Also addressing these two roster needs through this draft allows us to maintain optimal cap flexibility for free agency!!! And allows us to replenish our potential cache of trade assets with low cost ( contracts) that can be included for a potential 3rd star in a trade.

I don't know about Top 3, but I agree with you that he needs to be on our list. His strength and quickness, and the confidence that comes along with those attributes, really set him apart from a lot of other prospects.

Good on you for keeping your eye on these guys for us, GoK. Really appreciate ya.

I doubt there won't be a better prospect available where we end up in this draft. I'm really hoping one of Toppin, Okongwu, Hayes or Hallburton fall to us. If not, I'd certainly entertain trading back for an opportunity to a couple mid-late first prospects, as I like Paul Reed, Tyler Bey, Pokusevski(sp), Riller, among others.

For the record, either plan - making the selection or trading down for two selections - is highly, highly preferable to trading it for Kennard. Yeesh!

Thank you, And I agree on all points....lol.

I probably should have worded it better, For me personally ( outside of the lottery) like 10 OR after 10, That's when I'd apply my big board for those 3 guards ( ** In that sequential order specifically). My overall preference would be to get a ( big) 3 and D 4 first. Depending upon where our pick ends up.

My lottery big board preference is:

**IF we go with a big first:

1- Obi Toppin.
2- Oneyka Okungwu.
3- Jalen Smith.
4- Jaden McDaniels.
5- Precious Achiuwa.

And IF we were to take a guard first:

1- Killian Hayes.
2- Lamelo Ball.
3- Tyreese Haliburton.
4- Cole Anthony.
5- ***Grant Riller ( Although Tyrell Terry is moving pretty close to Riller for me too).

My draft day dream scenario would be us moving up into the top 3 of the draft, And then trading back for an additional pick/ asset.

1st choice-
Phoenix/ Minnesota. Phoenix trades a top 3 pick to Minnesota for Jarrett Culver and the 16th and 33rd picks.
- 16. We take Jaden McDaniels ( *Oubres' replacement and small ball 4 option).
- 33. We take either Riller, Terry, or Lewis. Whichever one is still there. *** Then we trade Oubre to Orlando for Gordon. And sign Van Fleet or Augustine in free agency.

2nd choice-
Phoenix/ New York.
Phoenix trades a top 3 pick to New York for Reggie Bullock / Kenny Wooten/ the 25th and ***Dallas' unprotected 2021 first. **Looking to 2021 draft.
- 27 We draft Jalen Smith or Aleksev Pokusevski. In free agency, We sign Van Vleet or Augustine IF possible.

3rd choice-
Phoenix/ Chicago.
Phoenix trades a top 3 pick/ Oubre for Markannen and the 7th pick.
- 7. We draft Haliburton or Anthony. Then we buy a 2nd round pick from either Philly or Sacramento and take Amyr Sylla ( for defense at the 3/ backup 4.

There's honestly just so many different ways we can go really. I just hope we find a way to get maximum value and add quality depth at both the 4 and the backup guard spots. :D

So is Jalen Green in this year's draft but you have to let him play in the G league for a year or is he in next year's draft after a year in the G league?

As well as Isiah Todd too. I wonder what kind of access pro scouts would have in comparison to what they would have with the NCAA. Would it be more open, Or potentially more restrictive. And what the contractual differences would possibly be??

Like if a team drafts one of them, Could they still be sent to that teams affiliate team on a two way if necessary. Or would they potentially play for their G league team that they originally signed with? ( if it's not specifically connected to any one nba franchise? Just curious as to the potential contractual differences ( If any) as opposed to drafting them out of college.

Sam Vecenie on Paul Reed:
It’s not necessarily that Reed is playing better than he was in the early stages of the season. If anything, shooting regression has occurred and DePaul is sitting at 1-5 in the Big East. And yet, he continues to put up numbers and impact the game at a high level on both ends of the floor. Reed has been terrific defensively in all of the aspects you’re looking for a big to be good defensively. He can really move his feet away from the basket and is good positionally. Additionally, he’s a monster weak-side rim protector, despite his lack of bulk, posting a 10.2 percent block rate that is currently in the top-30 of all players nationally.

Offensively, he’s still been really useful, despite that he’s down to shooting 27 percent from 3 on about two attempts per game. He’s the hub of the offense for DePaul, and capable of really attacking from a variety of situations. I recently wrote about Pascal Siakam’s offensive profile in the NBA, how diverse it is for a player his size, and how it opens up so much more for coaching staffs if you can handle this many different tasks. Reed is similarly capable of taking on a variety of roles. So far this season, 20 percent of his offensive possessions come in transition, 17 percent in spot-ups, 15 percent as the roller in pick-and-roll, 14 percent off of cuts, 13 percent off of put-backs and 11 percent out of post-ups, according to Synergy.

Now, the difference between Reed and Siakam is that Siakam has tirelessly worked to develop his game off of the bounce, and takes up more possessions in isolation and in pick-and-roll as a ballhandler. Siakam is driving action whereas Reed is a capable driver who uses his motor to create buckets more often. The former is much more valuable than the latter. While Reed can drive in a straight line, he has a lot of work to do as a full-on offensive creator and I find it unlikely he reaches a high level there. Additionally, Siakam has become a legitimate shooter, and Reed still has some ways to go there. Still, he’s taken strides. For instance, examine this photo of a shot from last season’s Big East Tournament (top) versus a photo from December (bottom). It’s clear he took this summer to work on getting his elbow in and getting a cleaner release.

This is ultimately the swing skill I come back to. His mechanics in terms of lower body aren’t awesome, and the shot’s rhythm is still being worked through. If you buy the shot coming through because he has good touch, you might even rank Reed higher than this. I’m a bit skeptical. But still, high-motor athletes with great length, skill and defensive aptitude are worth taking shots on. I have Reed in my top 20 right now.

I'd called him a cross between say Ibaka and Siakam, and seems like there are others who see him like that too. He's the most intriguing talent to me in the draft, even if he's kinda raw right now.

I wouldn't think many fans would share that thought. You don't trade a top 10 pick for a guy coming off injury, reportedly at odds with team management and needing a new contract! All while not filling our teams biggest need which is PF.

Been watching tape of Cole Anthony of late, and I have to say I'm revising my opinion of him. He was extremely inefficient in college as a scorer, but there are some very good attributes.

- outside shot is fundamentally decent both off the catch and off the bounce.
- really big competitor and plays aggressive on-ball defense
- outstanding ball-handler, very creative, very solid first step and will have no trouble creating in the NBA

Now his playmaking isn't special, nor was his efficiency, but I think there's a chance that he'll be a better pro than a college player simply because he won't be asked to be the man in the NBA. Simplifying his game - and a lower offensive load will ramp up his efficiency.

I think if we he develops as a bench PG behind a stable hand like Rubio, he'll end up being a solid starter.

My comparison for him is as a more athletic VanVleet - good man defender and good scorer from the perimeter. Though lacking in interior finishing and advanced playmaking.

Will perhaps be a very good starter by his second contract.

I alos do like his potential fit with Booker due to his shotmaking ability , extremely good ball-handling and aggressive on-ball defense.

Since AZ won’t be very good I kinda want to see Terry come back and play with Ziaire Williams. That could be a dangerous team.
