krispy kreme is genius for having just one location in ontario.

for a while i thought the hype died down, then all of a sudden the lineups went crazy again.

They don't have just one location in Ontario. You can get them easily get them from a number of locations in Toronto. The people lining up are likely just losing their minds in the midst of this pandemic and/or have nothing better to do.

i didn't even know toronto had locations wow

Yeah there's a Krispy Kreme off Harbord that isn't too busy. It's tiny. I just pull up and drop in quick and easy.

Yeah, that Krispy Kreme thing makes even less sense than the toilet paper thing. I wonder if the people in their cars are even aware you could just drive to Toronto. Hell, I've even seen them on UberEats.

Quick background - Krispy Kreme used to be, probably still is, a meeting place for younger people to chill and get a sugar rush. They're probably still using it as a way to see each other and still have social distancing. It's probably like meeting your friends at the mall, they're places like that all over the GTA. Can someone confirm if KK is still a meeting place?

its a tourist spot so i guess yeah its a meeting place. i have friends from belville and kitchener show up just to buy krispy kreme. i go to the osmows closeby at least once a week and i always make sure to drive by to see what the lineups like.

its a meetup spot for a lot of car groups but ive never seen the group eating doughnuts.

younger people do make up for the crowd, like 30%, the rest is anywhere from ages 30-60. the older crowd seems to enjoy it more than kids it seems which is concerning

How **** can your city be if a Krispy Kreme is your main tourist draw/hangout spot for young people.

Was there a promo for free donuts? Had to be something. I know Krispy Kreme had a lot of hype when they first opened locations around Canada but I've driven past one a few times over the past year and it's rarely that busy, maybe 4-5 cars in the drive-thru at the most.

The Krispy Kremes here in California are packed too surprisingly, which is odd because they're hardly the cream of the crop when it comes to donuts. My friend owns a place called DK Donuts in Santa Monica, and it's an actual tourist spot that people come down here for (not for the donuts alone, but when in Santa Monica it's a must see). She's been experiencing a high volume of donut orders too, so like toilet paper, it may just be a donut thing.

When in the States I'm a big fan of Duck Donuts. Not sure if that's country wide or just an Ohio thing. But those were damn good!

I'm tempted to see what the Jollibee lineups look like in these times.

In the UK cops are pulling people over asking where they are going and what they are doing. We are still relatively free here compared to other places, let's be thankful.

Opposite.

I didn't think I'd miss sports too much but it appears that there's currently a gaping hole in my existence that hitherto had been filled by sports, especially basketball. Watching the Raps playoff run again was fantastic, but it also made me sad for the loss of the chance for a very possible repeat.

Man, with a healthy squad, I really believe we could have done it.

Yeah I'm definitely not the norm. I literally plan so much of my time around basketball/soccer/football/UFC, and somehow I hardly miss any of it. We'll see what happens come football season, no doubt that must be delayed. I really do miss eating out and travelling over anything though.

three hot sellers:

1) chicken shawarma - a wrap with their shawarma chicken, veggies and sauces
2) chicken on the rocks - rice, shawarma chicken, and their sauces mixed together
3) chicken on sticks - french fries, shawarma chicken, and sauces mixed together

i would highly recommend 1, ask them to add fries inside the wrap and toast it extra. spice levels are up to you.

2 and 3 is pretty heavy, you would have to be really hungry to finish all of that in one sitting.

I understand going to a one-of-a-kind restaurant or bakery or something, but a **** mediocre doughnut chain? My God, people are dumb.

Osmow's is decent (assuming the franchises are true to the original recipes/prep), but hardly worth lining up for. There are better shawarma places all over the city.

It's the best shawarma chain IMO, but there are better non-chain options. Their sauce isn't very Middle Eastern, but it's really good.

Yeah definitely the most popular shawarma chain. Lazeez, Ali Babas, The Halal Guys are probably a tier below.
But best shawarma chain does not equate to best shawarma in town. Osmows doesn't compare to the real Shawarma spots.
Nonetheless, all this Osmows talk got me craving a large Chicken on the Rox :droop:

Try chicken on the Rox with onions on top. I saw a guy in front of me in line do it and I've never looked back since.

that **** is embarrassing lol. pretty close to my uncle's place and never seen a line that obnoxious before. mississauga culture is weird as **** and super car-centric, like how the tim's parking lot is the chill spot.

now that's coming from a downtown toronto perspective that's the complete opposite. so i know, i just don't understand it. anyway, there's also a krispy kreme in baldwin village, near dundas/mccaul if ppl want another alternative lol

downtown toronto lost its appeal long ago. the streetcar lines, construction of too many look alike substandard condos, all the traffic and crowding. it will all look too slummy in 10 years if it isn't already.
