ESPN's 'The Last Dance' -- ongoing discussion

Post#1 » by Drygon » Mon Apr 20, 2020 12:20 am

I'd really appreciate if the mods could sticky my thread as a discussion thread for tonight 's episodes :)

Episode 1 @ 9 PM:

In the fall of 1997, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls begin their quest for their sixth title in eight years. But "The Last Dance", as coach Phil Jackson called it, will be shadowed by tension with the club's front office.

Episode 2 @ 10 PM:

Michael Jordan is set to begin the 1997-1998 season without his injured sidekick Scottie Pippen, whose contract dispute with the Bulls front office reaches a fever pitch as the team gets off to one of its worst starts of its championship runs.

Krause is painted to have dwarf mentality. Short and fat, but has to be and feel big in everyone else's eyes.

I wish Krause was still alive to provide more of an opposing view. It sucks that he's not around to defend himself.

That's probably going to be my only complaint throughout the series.

It really is ridiculous how many great, legendary moments Jordan had. Who hits a game-winning shot in the national championship game, then does it again nearly 20 years later in The Finals? And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Will wait to see the reviews on it since i cant get excited about 10 parts to something almost everyone already knows.

There just cant be enough new footage to fill all that time #DebbieDowner

Is it coming on Netflix? Pretty sure it will be available on espn.com eventually.

Krause probably deserves more credit than he’ll ever get. He did inherit a young Jordan, but he did build the perfect team around him.

It just seems to be how the public views GMs though, even today, if LeBron loses, it’s the front offices fault for not getting LeBron enough help, but if LeBron wins, LeBron gets all the credit.

Krause could have handled it better, and he probably deserved better, but at the same time, his ego is what ultimately led to the Bulls destruction.

A question about something just covered in the documentary..

Does anyone remember why Krause was so determined to break up the Bulls after the '97-'98 season on matter what?

This documentary is sick so far. Very well done.

It makes things real and helps us understand the GOAT basketball player.

This release of this documentary is aligning perfectly for me. I started reading "The Jordan Rules" a few days ago and that book paints Krause in the same light. It's interesting. I'd like to have more insight on Krause and get more information from his perspective.

Why did they breakup the team? That is really the question that needs to be asked and answered in a 10 part series like this. Hopefully they circle back to it.

Did you not watch the first 20 minutes or so? They laid it all out pretty well.
