Re: Potential sleepers
What do you guys think about Nathan Knight as a back up C at the next level? 6'10/250 with a 7'2 wing span. Great touch around the rim. Solid rebounder. Has shown flashes of a developed 3-ball. Stroke looks good. Good passer.

Re: Potential sleepers
I know Romaro Gill is 25 going on 26 in October, but someone should sign that kid and see what he can do in the NBA. He's a late bloomer and could be had for cheap. Fairly mobile for a 7'2/255 guy and he's relatively quick rolling to the basket and covers a lot of ground on defense thanks to his 7'8 wingspan.

Yeah, I loved Withey. He entered the league at the wrong time, just as the league started to trend away from slower bigs.

Reminds me of Jessie Govan last year, so he probably won’t make the league.

Kelly is not Withey. I understand the parallels, but Kelly is objectively more athletic and mobile and has showed year over year improvement.
The parallel EvanZ was making is that neither will
Make the league.

Also keep in mind Kylor Kelley will be 23 in August. He's old AF. Like if he was 20, I'd say he has a decent chance. But let's be real.

To me sleepers are guys nobody really talks about like a Chris Smith or an Emmitt Williams but they have a chance to make the league. Elleby is being slept on a little as well imo.

tyson carter, Mississippi state
played point this year, some will say he's too old, but every year he has made improvements. stats won't blow anyone away but i think he's solid on both ends of the floor. he's obv more of a 2 than a combo but he has the tools at 6'4" to make it to the league. not even sure if he's entering the draft since i don't see anything written about him but would like to see him try. playing for ben howland hopefully instilled solid defense into his mindset. could be a value 3 and d second round/undrafted.

Re: Potential sleepers
Markus Howard is similar to Chris Clemons last year for me: if someone can shoot that well both in catch-and-shoot and off the dribble, there’s going to be a spot for them in the NBA.
Paul Eboua has the tools to be an Mbah a Moute type of defender, and it’s not like Luc was ever a great shooter either. To me he seems to have as good a chance as anyone else in this draft at being able to match up with long, versatile forwards, which gives him a better chance of sticking in the NBA than your typical late 2nd/undrafted player.

Re: Potential sleepers
Kahlil Whitney has the physical tools. His handle and ball control in general are a bit loose, but those can be improved. It reminds me that Nassir Little didn't show much in college either.

How do people feel about AJ Brodeur from Penn State? He reminds me a little of Luis Scola.

Re: Potential sleepers
What does everyone think about Marcus Weathers out of Duquesne? 6'5 with a 7'1 wingspan. Strong finisher inside and has a lot of defensive potential. Physically, he's close to Bazemore, but his 3-pt game is non-existent as he doesn't take many 3s but he attacks the basket really well.

G/F 6'7 CJ Elleby (Washington State Sophomore)
CJ Elleby (19 years old) is a solid 2-way player from the wing position. He can effectively guard 1-4. He is a legit 6'6 without shoes on, 6'7 in shoes. CJ led the Pac-12 in total steals (56)/steals per game (1.8) as I mentioned above and was 4th in the Pac-12 in points per game (18.9 ppg) while leading his team in rebounds per game (7.8). CJ is a 82% ft shooter as well as being a clutch player.
He reminds me a lot of Klay Thompson who also played college basketball at Washington State. Not saying that he will be as good a player as Klay but he has a lot of Klay's characteristics in his game. Klay is mentoring CJ as both went to the same college and have developed a bond as Klay has said that he sees a lot of himself in CJ. Former NBA coach Earl Watson has called Elleby worthy of a first round pick & potentially the steal of the draft. NBADraft.net currently has CJ at #37 overall and had him as a late 1st rounder (#26) before that.

Spoiler:
Klay is way more of a pure shooter. Elleby reminds me of a taller, worse Waiters in terms of how he shoots the ball. Why is his TS% so low?

CJ has perfect form, release, follow through on his jumper. It might throw you off because he's a lefty. Because he had to be a volume shooter this season. His team had no one outside of him and Bonton that averaged double figures. He shot 82% on fts. He shot 41% from 3pt as a Freshman.

Re: Potential sleepers
Trent Forrest is a guy I'd watch out for. Good defender. Helped lock up Cole Anthony when FSU played UNC.
(against top 75 competition)
64% finisher at the rim...
26.1 AST%
4.1 STL%
37.9% FTr
3.9 DBPM
shaky handle that can lead to turnovers, and his 3-pt game is non-existent, but he's a defensive guard who excels in transition and looks to get others involved, can rim-protect too.

Yeah I’ve liked him for the past couple seasons now. Just a jumper away from being a solid NBA player, but it’s fair to wonder if that will ever come.

Re: Potential sleepers
Why doesn't someone like Sam Merrill (Utah State) get brought up more? Crazy productive career. Makes me wonder if people are afraid of him being Jimmer 2.0, but Merrill has shown some off-ball ability and has SG size unlike Fredette.
