Here's Dougherty's take:

GREEN BAY - Brian Gutekunst and Matt LaFleur are transforming the Green Bay Packers’ offense right before our very eyes.
It’s clear the team’s general manager and coach have decided that since Aaron Rodgers can’t carry the team like he used to, it’s time to go all-in with LaFleur’s zone-run scheme.
The drafting of Jordan Love in the first round Thursday night was the first move but will be the last part of this process — that is, when Gutekunst and LaFleur decide it’s time to move on from Rodgers.
But the change we’ll see in 2020 came Friday, when Gutekunst spent two valuable picks on a running back (AJ Dillon of Boston College) in the second round and an H-back (Josia Deguara) that’s a staple position in the LaFleur/Kyle Shanahan offense in round three.
Gutekunst and LaFleur are gearing the final years of Rodgers’ career around the run, much like Denver did with its aging Hall of Fame quarterback, John Elway, in this same zone-scheme offense a little more than 20 years ago.
“Matt really wants to tie everything to the run game and off the run game, and these guys will help us do that,” Gutekunst said Friday night.
I’m personally perplexed by any backlash. You might disagree with Gutekunst’s evaluation of Love — although, aside from those paid to scout college players, how many of us have an opinion on that worth hearing? The answer is, none — and if Love busts down the road, the responsibility for the misevaluation falls on the GM. That’s only fair.
But the thinking behind the selection is sound. Even decent quarterbacks are hard to find, and if Gutekunst is convinced Love has a good chance of becoming a winning NFL starter, he’d have been crazy to pass him up. It’s almost impossible to overstate how important quarterbacks are in the NFL.

I actually agree with becoming more Tirans-esque as Rodgers ages. I am fine with drafting to that end.
But...
1) Then trade down. No one else is grabbing those guys that early.
2) If anything, you could argue you need two good receivers MORE in a Titans-type scheme. Need less of 'em, but need speed for playaction more.
3) Kirksey and Gary better be good if you're neglecting MLB (again).

#1. I like Dillon, but I agree he very likely would have been available later in the draft. I don't believe anyone had him above round 4 or 5. Was Deguara on anyone's radar? At best he appears to be late-round roster filler.
#2 Yup. And with the wealth of Reciever talent this year to come away with none of the better talents is turrible. And failing that, then at least come away with one of the rich crop of Offensive Tackles. You need them too in any offense.
#3 Yup.

Completely agree. Could also go the strengthen both OL and DL route so we have a better chance of winning in the trenches...especially for OT in this draft.
Just terrible though I fully support LaFleur.
But then I fully supported Gute not two days ago...

Yep, if that is the route you are going we need defensive lineman and an ILB as good as Rashaan Evans.

MLF totally changing the pass centric offense we have seen around here for the past 30 years to become the Titans reminds me of Gary Anderson trying to go spread offense for the Badgers.

I really hate the copycats of the league, last year everybody needs to copy Sean McVay and now this year everybody needs to copy Vrabel's Titans.

hard to imagine LaFleur would want to emulate the Titans offense he ran just 2 years ago.

If the Packers are overhauling the offense now, isn't that a direct indication that the brass believes last years team over-achieved (with the roster on hand) and that's their high-water mark? Or, do they believe they can reload on the fly and take the team in a different direction in a year or three? This is a high price roster for a rebuilding team. I am confused on the plan....

I'm confused as well. Rodgers was extended not too long ago and this team just made the NFCCG. Now it's clear we were a step (or two) behind the elite contenders so maybe the FO does believe the team overachieved. It's hard to look at this draft class and not see it as a retooling of the offense for the future. Dillon will more than likely be the only immediate contributor next season, and probably in a limited fashion as well.
Gute and Co must really expect the 2018 WRs to take a massive step in 2020
