Alternatively, Trump could resign Jan 19, 2021 (Operation Cut and Run), and Pence could pardon him. Keep an eye on Fox, watch for Jeanine Pirro to float these ideas as perfectly reasonable.
Or just knock off Ginsburg and Kagan and replace them with Kushner and the a4metioned constitutional expert. What election? He could make himself king.
There is not (as far as I know) any law stating a U.S. Supreme Court justice must be a lawyer, count on Trump to say, "there's no law that says a Supreme Court justice has to be a lawyer. Lawyers are the problem. That's why I'm appointing [the most ridiculous choices imaginable, first floating Dennis Rodman and Kanye West before settling on a general and a Russian billionaire, quickly approved by a republican senate]." Drain the swamp!
Yeah, I recall decades ago (I'm old) people suggesting it would be best to have a mixture of people from various walks of life - not just judges from lower courts or even plain old lawyers - in the SC.
