I loved it, but it's certainly not for everyone. Not every beat landed, but I appreciated how much they went for it, and how hard they tried to do right by the setting, and characters.

Spoiler:
The original sequence, for as famous as it is, is terribly transphobic and homophobic, not to mention making light of human trafficking. I was so damn worried when they confirmed they were going to try it again, but while certainly not above reproach, I think they did a surprisingly good job with a lot of that stuff. What I've read from queer and trans community members, has largely been positive as well.

I don't have any problems with the content itself, more in how it actually plays and the insanely quick cuts I found incredibly annoying. Story-wise, though, it does seem incredibly out of character that

Seems like a good time to re-port this very good Kotaku piece on Naughty Dog from ~1 month ago.

So I played against this dude in Madden who basically uses Ravens or KC every time. We played before and he runs the same play.

Fastest WR fly route, TE and slot WR crossing pattenrs, HB curls in midfield 7 yards. If you just happen to cover it correctly, he runs circles around the def with Lamar or Mahomes.

Today, I used the Titans for the first time ever. He received opening kickoff and scored on his first drive. I received the ball and he never got it back for the rest of the game. Used Henry to just go for 3-6 yards a play. Even when I had open lanes I just took a few yards and fell over. Scored a td on the final play of the half. Received the kickoff, and literally ate the entire second half clock up. Got down to the 1 with under 2 minutes left and his timeouts gone, three straight QB kneels and a FG to win it.

That was so satisfying. Never had to pass at all. Didn't realize Henry was that unstoppable. Finally have something to beat those Lamar glitchers.

Just made a cool $1.2MM on the stalk market. Finally feel like I have some cash to make some changes on the island...but I'm sure I'll blow it all in no time.

I had 2 million in the bank and thought I was pretty set until I realized the coolest stuff at the upgraded Nook's Cranny costs like 100k Bells a pop.

One of my buddies had 620 for a sell price this morning. Best haul yet, netted over 6,000,000. Got just shy of 11,000,000 in the bank after fully upgrading my house.

I lost a 50% on my turnips because I don't play enough, then Nook's Cranny was closed for a day, and every time I checked prices were in the 40s.

I don't know all the rules and regulations, but could this be the start of hopefully getting NCAA games back?!

I wrapped up XCOM: Chimera Squad yesterday. All-in-all, a solid experiment and definitely worth $10. It did make me want to go back and play XCOM 2 though for the full-on meaty experience it offers.

I guess I’m moving on to finish The Witcher 3 DLC. After that...idk? Still have ~26 days of furlough; maybe Hollow Knight or Pillars of Eternity are the next up in my backlog. Nothing is really screaming to me beyond Witcher, kind of weird I’ll have caught up on a lot of neglected games so quickly.

Assuming having player likenesses in the game was the holdup in the first place (which I don't personally understand, but to each their own), this improves the odds from 0% to something close to 0%. Ultimately if the player likenesses is the hold up, you still need roughly 10,000 kids to form a players' union to negotiate with EA/2K for a college football game.

I guess I just didn't play college games the way everyone else did, but I never really understood why people felt the need to have player likenesses in the first place. Just give me the schools and rough prestige rankings and I'm good; all the players that people have heard of are gone within like two years anyways.

But anyways, the committee that is making this recommendation is also saying that video games are not workable with college players, but I think that's based on the fact that there is no college players' union like the NFLPA for example. This does theoretically open the door for a video game company to pursue player likenesses if college athletes do unionize though (or theoretically, a video game company could target specific college athletes to feature in their games if they wanted to ala what 2K did with All Pro Football, but not sure that's very likely.

Still, I think this development is better than nothing.

I wish someone would just make an NCAAF game with no player-likeness, and allow custom roster downloads so we could have a rando make them for everyone. Problem solved.

Yeah...I mean I'm not a lawyer, but based on my understanding of why EA was sued previously, I don't understand why that wouldn't be a possibility and from the consumer angle, I don't understand why people wouldn't jump all over that. I would like to think EA/2K are smarter than I am about this though.

I'm at a wall in Nioh 2 (sorta, it's not that terrible, I just don't have the energy for it now) but it made me jump back to Nioh 1 and I'm having more fun with it than the sequel, likely because my dude is 140 levels higher. I'm a massive Ninja Gaiden honk and today I landed a seven piece Hyabusa set that just shreds. I'm on the final level of the first NG and not throwing my controller yet. If I finish this one there's only three more NG modes to go :/

Been having internet problems so I got back to FF7R tonight. Abzu was an abzulute pain in the ass (it wasn't terrible, I just had to do that pun), but I've gotten to the train graveyard now. I think everyone probably has their own scenes that they are nostalgic for, but for some reason for me train graveyard is one of them. Probably because I grinded there so much and would steal the weapon for Aeris. But ooooh man, it's beautiful.

Train Graveyard did not disappoint! My favorite area so far, maybe by far.

Spoiler:
The atmosphere was incredible. The added story of the kids/ghosts fit perfectly and was a welcome addition, especially when compared to some of the weaker adds (Johnny, ugh). I was slightly disappointed there were no Eligors, but it all paid off with the last boss fight - complete with a weapon to steal for Aerith.

Loved it. So much.

Also, we got a new wifi mesh system today (Netgear Orbi) to replace our old which took a **** (Ubiquiti Amplifi), and download speeds in my office literally doubled, while upload speeds literally tripled. We considered trying to troubleshoot the Amplifi more before buying new, but it's been such a problem for the past 3 years we thought it was time to move on. So glad we did. Fingers crossed it's more consistent than the Amplifi.

This is one of things I can't believe I've never upgraded on. I'm still using an Airport Extreme I bought out of college.

Every time you post about your Nioh dedication it amazes me. I'm just happy to see the credits of most games these days and you're looking at possible second NG+ run.

The difficulty is like cocaine. I just spent an hour-plus trying to beat a boss in the DLC. Probably died 25 times. Then I finally got him just now and the rush is ridiculous. To me the most frustrating thing is the RNG. Yesterday I spent two hours farming a **** tough ass boss looking for a smithing text for a set I really wanted and it never dropped. That's where I waste the most time in these games. Still, it's fun as hell when you get all the mats you want to upgrade a good set. I spent about three hours on this last level and when I get back to the blacksmith I'll be a beast.
