Blame Canada, game two

Post#1 » by Three34 » Sat Apr 7, 2007 11:05 pm

FOSSUM

OHKA

IT'S THE MLB, right here, on [insert whatever the channel's called].

Fossum makes his debut since the surgery. I've never seen the guy pitch in my life so hopefully he does that flippy thing.

Baldelli back in center field, Wigginton DH'ing, Carlos Pena starts at first, hitting second for some reason. Brendan Harris gives Zobrist (1-13 so far) the night off, and hits 8th with Upton 9th.

Navarro just got hit right in the misters in the first batter of the game. That was fun. Although maybe not to him.

Well, they're down 1-0 early. Hit batsman, single up the middle, sacrifice fly. Hmm. Oh well.

Oh dear.

Frank Thomas htis a single to left and the Jays have first and third with 1 out. Glaus hits a crappy chopper to short, a double play ball, Harris throws it to Upton.....which he drops under no pressure from the bloody slow Thomas. So now it's 2-0 with 2 on and 1 out, whereas they coulda been out of the inning.

Upton's first ever error at second, Rays first of the year. D'oh.

Carl Crawford just homers on the first pitch Ohka throws.

See? You can still drive in RBI's when leading off.

Well, that fell aart quickly. Down 6-1 and sill in the second. An infield single, another hit batter, and I forgot what the other was. Even Royce Clayton hit Fossum hard, albeit straight to Akinori Iwamura.

Hey, I just realised that's Jason Phillips. Cool! I liked him when he was a backup Met catcher. Always looked hard, with the shades and the beard and that.

Anyway, he just got thrown out nonchalantly turning a single into a double. So that was fun. Still down big though.

Royce Clayton just hit an opposite field lead off double. For those who can't interpret what that means - it means Fossum is throwing cack tonight.

HOWEVER - things just got better.

Johnson doubles in Clayton off two pitches, and the Rays are down 7-1, BUT this gets Gary Glover off the bench and warming up.

Good times.

Holy balls! Brendan Harris has opposite field power!

Suddenly it's a 7-4 game. I cite Gary Glover as the reason.

Make that 7-5. Ohka gives Upton a wild walk, Crawford double shim across with a bit of a lucky double, and then Ohka throws a wild pitch to score BJ.

Pena then ends the inning with his third meek grounder of the game, but it's now a game again.

You need to go recruit some more fans. Iwamura is an enigma. He's like Ichiro!

Wow, when did Tampa get Carlos Pena? I like him a lot.

Non roster invite to spring training. One of the last cuts, but didn't make it. Then Greg Norton hurt himself so Pena came straight back. And he was frankly bollocks tonight.

Tampa kinda rolled over and died in this one, squandering a 2 on nobody out situation in the 8th. And then Lugo gave up a compulsory run in the 9th. But hey, Gary Glover's good!

I hate it when you give up the out in that situation. Killed to mo.

That's OK, I couldn't think of anyone more suited for the job.

Baldelli at least hit two warning trackers so despite being 1-12 or whatever it is, so at least he's close to getting hits. If that makes sense.

Brendan Harris has already achieved more than Tomas Perez, so that's nice.

I still don't get why BJ Upton is supposed to such hot smeg. He can't hit a low or high pitch save for occasional choppers, and he has little or no power.
