What doc suggests should do the trick.
In any case, it won't happen. By a month earlier than the scheduled event, all hell will have broken loose.

But our Board President wants to postpone it to early July rather than just cancel it. We're going to have a vote on it in early May. The book sale takes a lot of volunteers to set up and tear down. It's generally held in a tightly packed room with lots of people wondering in and out and congregating - including lots of old people. It's our biggest way of raising money, but we are not at all short on cash. Seems to me this is a crazy risk to take and will likely lead to bad publicity. Problem is, our Board President hates when the Board doesn't take her suggestions, and she's dug her heals in this one. I don't see any reasonable compromise. Anyone have thoughts or suggestions? I assume the Board will say no, but I'm not positive.
Contact the Library Director with your concerns. Friends are independent operators but if the beneficiary of their assistance says they’re anxious about vulnerable patrons then maybe she will listen. Perhaps the Board President can hear reason from a person in a position of authority, in a way that they won’t hear it from lowly volunteers.
I left out one important fact - the Board President is my sister-in-law. Hopefully the branch manager will say we can't do it. I've talked to a couple of older board members I trust, and to my surprise - they're for having the book sale in July - with the caveat that the library will be open at least 2 months before the sale. Maybe that's reasonable.

In that case, Ruz, I think you have nothing to worry about. There is nothing going on globally or here to suggest that this pandemic is anywhere near to peaking. It will be no surprise to me if kids don't go back to school in September.

This science stuff is over my head, but my microbiologist contact had some interesting thought that I hopefully didn't misinterpret. He said blood plasma transfusions from people who survived the virus might eventually be used as a cure for the virus. And at some point, it might be possible to infuse willing donors with a "turned off" version of the virus - in order to make them effective donors. Of course they won't do that unless it's tested safe - and it might never work. But that approach might be used to find cures for future viruses.

Some Harvard researchers said that quarantine measures would have to be utilized until 2022. Yikes.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread Part 4
We all know the exact count of covid-19 cases reported every day is not correct because of the lack of testing. I don't think the govts (federal and state) are purposely undercounting, but they put the numbers out there as if they're accurate.
A just released Stanford study showed that the count in one county may be off by a factor of fifty. Another study found that only 6% of covid-19 cases worldwide are reported as covid19. It's hard to see how we can make good decisions without any idea of the true numbers.

plus not just lack of testing but in some cases a deliberate attempt to minimize
the totals in the case of fatalities.

I will at some point - I heard it's been really good. But don't tell me how it ends.
Do the Pistons turn out to be bad guys?
