So if the team is being supported well, including good ratings of broadcasts, Vlade is less likely to be under pressure.

Pretty much.

It's going to be the same old, same old.

Or like I said in my earlier post: unless ownership somehow grows a brain and sack Vlade. fill management with ACTUAL PROFESSIONALS, etc. I'm expecting the same thing. This way, I'm not disappointed with their failures.

I'm not a Vlade fan at all. I wanted him sacked a long time ago.

All I wanted to point out if there was something that I was missing i.e. an article/source that shows Vlade's time in Sacramento is over.

Oh, no articles or definitive news from the ownership at all

I just know fan sentiment is 95% on wanting Vlade gone, and have tried to create public billboards to ouster him. Random people in the fan community like Tim Maxwell from SactownRoyalty believe he’ll be out too. There is the belief that Doncic blowing up this year has sealed his fate, along with the gap hazard coaching change, to go along with his subpar resume. The first time I thought Vivek understood this himself is when this spring he publically let out ownership favored Doncic, which seemed an undermining move to the current FO

The fans have no faith in Vlade currently managing the team, so how can ownership?

But that might indeed be giving them too much credit, especially with Vlade’s extension

Still, I felt overall sentiment would make the change this summer

Vlade really needs Bagley to blow up.

The Kings need to stop thinking change is going to come by rotating people in and out of positions. I do feel the coaching change was for the better, but I also feel it cost us about a 30 game transition. I think how to use Harrison Barnes was a transition. Fox realizing he's the guy is a transition. Hield realizing he's not the #1 option (sorry he had to pretend for quite a few games) was a process.

The GM isn't the problem.
Luca Doncic isn't the savior.

Funny thing is the Kings were finally starting to play well. 13-7 in a 20 game stretch equates to a 53 win season. I'm not quite ready to call them a 50+ winner, but with health, cohesion (mainly Buddy), better defensive play, and guys playing the roll we thought they were going to be (ie Bagley a high teens double double guy) that's coming.

If the Kings wanted to fire Vlade for not drafting Doncic, which many of these blogs won't let go of, it should have already happened. I prefer De'Aaron Fox to Doncic. I have no issue letting him go.

If anything the kings are guilty of selling this team as a playoff team. Even to that we were 3 games out and playing well. Games in March were meaningful and exciting for a long time. we have the squad. We have the coach. We have the GM. We just need some health.

Kings likely to retain Vlade and Luke, WT headline says.

I think that's the right move. Would be stupid in my opinion to get rid of Luke after only one partial season. We were playing at a 43 win pace after the new year which is about what I think this team should have been so you've got to give him some time.

Vlade is another story but I think it's the right move to let it play out at least another season or two. If we don't make the playoffs by the time Bagley is due for an extension then you need to re-evaluate.

Not a huge fan of Luke but he deserves another season. Vlade should have been fired long ago.

That’s where I was. Luke was going to stay, but Vlade should’ve been moved.

The Kings under Vivek’s reign got themselves into trouble with the coach before the GM situation though (twice). So maybe on his mind

If it was up to me, get rid of everyone -- including Walton. But the COVID-19 crisis and the team's late positive run (which I think is fool's gold), saved Luke. They are going to give him another try at this next season.

I can't erase in my head how bad the team was for 3/4s of the season, but the last several games they somehow "turned the corner" I'm not buying it. This team is bad. They have always tease us that they are more than they really are. They are consistently inconsistent.

How good were those teams that they played well against?

The last 20 games (13 wins) against the opponent with their record at the time (from Jan 24th to March 8th):

Bulls: 17-30
Wolves: 15-32
Clippers: 33-15
Wolves: 15-34
Heat: 34-17
Spurs: 22-30
Grizzlies: 28-27
Clippers: 37-29
Warriors: 12-46
Grizzlies: 28-31
Pistons: 20-42
Wizards: 22-38
Blazers: 28-37

*bolded: team with .500 or above.

2 very good wins against Clippers and Heat. The rest? Not impressed.

I've seen a lot of my Kings buddies are being fooled with this stretch of games and get lured in. I've seen it all on how much a tease the Kings are over the past decade. They aren't good to sustain anything for more than a 1/3 of a season.

I guess main thing is, you would want to see the young players develop, like Fox take another step.

It's tough that Bagley has been injured too.

There was also some optimism about Giles last season but it doesn't sound like he showed much improvement either.

Just to add Butler didnt play for the Heat that game and Kawhi didn't play for the Clippers in one of the wins and Paul George didn't play in one of the other wins. Also in this stretch we blew a 19 point lead against the Thunder.

Bittersweet.

I liked him on the broadcast. But he was awful on his radio show. He was always a mouth piece and tool for the organization.

So, who is next in line to replace Grant?

As great of a play by play guy he was, he did this entirely to himself. Boogie asked him a layup of a question, all he had to do was say, "I support Black Lives Matter" and none of this would have happened. His response was totally tone deaf, especially with the timing, and it resurfaced his views on Kaepernick's protests and his defense of Donald Sterling. That right there is three strikes and you're out.

I bet we see a group for the rest of the season. Something like Jerry, Doug, Kayte, Mitch. Who knows, we might see Koz down there. It might be rough for a bit.

I’m really curious who is the long term solution though. Nostalgic players are always fun, but it’s hit or miss. Do we see Chris Webber get lured away from TNT? Probably not and I’m not even sure he’s good. I’d love to pull Garrett Temple if he was retiring. Vince Carter maybe? Probably not. Scot Pollard would be amazing!

Yeah. I agree.

Barnes, Webber and Cousins pretty much called Grant a racist.

I'm not surprised tbh

I don't think Webber does PBP. He usually does color iirc.
