Finally.

For those who don't want to subscribe, this has been an issue for a few weeks now but now that the project has been greenlighted, all we have to worry about is the Dolan lawsuit. Being that he apparently doesn't have anything in writing, I'm not sure why this can't be done quicker.

Interesting angle. Says that the project "won't effect gentrification". I've sort of said the same thing myself. Once the Ram stadium broke ground, there really wasn't much that could be done to stop gentrification. It was already under way long before Ballmer settled on this site.

Here's a more thorough version of the above link. This has the first look at the floor plan and a separate illustration showing the noise barriers that will be put in place.

For those of you with time on your hands, this is the EIR. Some very interesting tidbits and illustrations in there.

While they briefly went over it in the beginning, they have a more thorough list of alternate sites at the end of the document. The alternate sites included downgrading the project at the current site, moving it closer to downtown Inglewood, the Baldwin Hills location that was my favorite, going across the street and joining Kroenke north of Century, another option that would have him buyout Dolan should he want demolish the Forum and then the Carson site that Ballmer didn't seem so thrilled about in a previous LA Times article.

Very interesting, and very informative. Great link.
I love this arena plan:

I don't answer a lot of the time, but I appreciate you keeping us updated on the developments in the whole relocation issue, keep up the good work!

Really interesting development here. My hunch has always been that Dolan is behind the other lawsuits as well. I think he created IRATE the same way that most people speculate that he created "DDDB" (Develop don't destroy Brooklyn) when he was trying to block Barclays Center. If that's the case then I see no reason why Ballmer can't get started earlier than anticipated.

The city of Inglewood is expected to certify the EIR in June. From that point, they will have roughly 9 months to settle any lawsuits. That means that they would be able to break ground in March of 2021. Most arenas get done in 2 years which would put the arena opening in 2023, a year before the Staples lease is up in 2024. For whatever reason, and I suspect legal reasons, Ballmer is saying that the arena would take 3 years. But if Ballmer could negotiate an out clause with Staples then I bet this thing could get done by 2023 or even 2022 if nobody files an EIR lawsuit.

Beat me to it. For $400 million. Seems steep but I trust Ballmer knows what he's doing.

What's the ROI on having the best team and best venue in Los Angeles knowing Jeannie is somewhere at home crying in her 30 year old Playboy magazine?

Can't beat it. Ballmer knows that. Ballmer gets it.

Presumably all the concert events that MSG was hosting would now occur in the new arena?

And Ballmer makes money from the concerts in the Forum until the new arena is completed?

The Spurs shut the Forum down with a sweep, now the Clippers bought it up. Sucks to suck, Lakers.

Yes, Ballmer gets 100% of the revenue that comes to the Forum now that he's sole 100% owner.

As for the first part, we still don't know. My hunch is that if Ballmer can get anywhere from 100 to 150 events in his new arena and still have 75 leftover for the Forum then you have a reasonable setup.

But if they conclude that the concert market loses it's demand, there's the possibility that Ballmer could refurbish the Forum into a hotel or some other business venture.

MSG bought the Forum for $23 million in 2018

Inglewood is $95 million closer to building the transit connector. My only question is this. How did the project go from $600 million to a billion?

At some point, you have to ask if it's worth it to build the connector and I say that as someone who is very much behind public transportation and having the connector. It may just make fiscal sense to have the shuttles.
