Haliburton, Hayes are near the top for me... Melo is creeping up but his family pedigree scares me. Whoever we get, just please let it be a starting caliber PG that's here for the next decade.

He kind of reminds me of Terrance Ferguson as far as potential goes, where they both have great skill when it comes to scoring, but their strength and inconsistency are their greatest weaknesses. In high school or even Euro league they're not going against brick wall players so scoring in the paint is easy without great shot blocking, but in the NBA where taking it in the paint use to be your strength has now become your biggest weakness.

We dont know if he will be a lottery.

The Athletic has him 20th in their latest bigboard too

Besides, from pick 17 to pick 26, only OKC maybe is not a true contender. Boston, Nets, Dallas, Bucks, Sixers, Denver, Jazz and Heat will aim for the title and maybe make win now moves. They may be willing to give us the pick for vets or they may chose a player more NBA ready than RJ who can fall to 27th.

DX still has Hampton going in the lotto at #11. I was pretty high on him coming into the season but he kept getting hurt and that hip injury is worrisome for me. On top of that his shot is inconsistent. But he is still pretty talented and I would take a shot at him in the 10-12 range

Yea, I would love to have another pick in that range. Hampton would be a nice gamble to take with an extra pick. In general, I love that range around 17ish in this draft. Not sure what it would take or if we have anything (besides other picks), but would be great if we could get another pick. If a team has a bad contract with a later pick, I might consider pending the details.

the more I think about it the more I think the knicks should try to consolidate that 27th and 38th and maybe some other future 2nd to move up a little, let's face it this team is not going to actually try to develop 3 rookies they refuse to even play the lottery picks from prior years or even the promising 2nd rounders from prior years

You are right. We have to be smart about roster spots and rotation spots. We have to prioritize quality over quantity.

Especially if we dont make a expensive ofseason move, we will be again stuck with a bunch of mid salary vets or redrafted youngish players, without playing time to give our sophomore and rookie signings.

Ball definitely should be no.1 on the Knicks list. He is what they need the most. A guy that can take their 28th ranked offensive (in)efficiency and make it immensely better. Allow guys like Barrett and Randle to not have to try to create shots beyond their current ability (which, at the end of the day, was a major cause of the Knicks overall inefficient and ugly offense if you really think about it). Yeah, yeah, he can't shoot but the Knicks offensive wows were not rooted in their inability to shoot, it was rooted in their inability to execute efficiently on offense. For those that don't want to keep watching Julius Randle try to channel his inner Lebron James, LaMelo Ball should be on the top of your Santa's Draft Wishlist. You want guys like Randle and Barret finishing the play (along with Robinson, Knox, Frank, etc.) not trying to initiate the play. It's infinitely harder to shoot when there's no flow in the offense (bad looks, late shots, off balance, out of position, rushed, etc.). Fix that first and my guess is that everyone (Randle, Knox, Barrett, Frank, etc.) will shoot better.

Agree...,although I have a bias for Hayes, you got pick Lamelo as your first PG choice due to the ceiling.

Does that get us into the high teens? I'd target KIra Or Nesmith , or whoever else drops that is good.

I did some reading on him. He's been labeled "a project." No thanks. Maybe this talk is just a smoke screen.

Project doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing. I’m just not sure his measurements are worth the squeeze but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to sit down with him and pick his brain.

I think its bad. "Project" looks like a euphemism to "he doesn't look good now but has potential to be great in the future". Its too little to justify a top 10 pick when we have better options in positions of need.

Kobe was a "project" that worked out pretty well, but yeah he was the 13th pick.

Wasn't Kobe the best high school player in the country when he was drafted way back then? I we think RJ Hampton is Kobe Bryant, then by all means draft him. But I have a feeling he isn't.

hampton was the 5th highest recruiting prospect of of HS behind wiseman, cole, Isaiah stewart and anthony edwards, so while he's not kobe bryant he was regarded as one of the top talents coming out of hs. playing in the NBL actually hurt his draft stock because he didn't dominate in it like lamelo did. But going into the season he was definitely viewed as a top 3-5 pick

If we go by this we could pull Nesmith, Jamhius Ramsey and Cassius Stanley at 6, 27 & 37. Sign CP (not giving up draft picks except 2nd rounders in future) and we'd have 1 (CP & Frank), 2 (Ramsey, Stanley), 3 (Nesmith; RJ); and 5 (Mitch) with next years big laden draft to snag a 4 or two. That looks potentially solid across the board.

Yeah he was top 5 on my board for a couple of weeks. He’s very talented. The biggest worry for me is his hip injury. Those hip injuries linger for a while.

Speaking of injuries, Cole Anthony already has had knee surgery. So that’s something to think about.
