Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
Conley could be an option if we strike out elsewhere.
D Rose is another bargain buy who should be available over the summer. Detroit reportedly tried to get a first out of him and failed at the deadline. He'll be going into his final contract year and is at odds with Detroit's inevitable rebuild.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
Derrick Rose's ability to score in the halfcourt is something we severely lack.
My cause for pause is that he's never been a poised player that you can trust to make good decisions in games that matter. That, combined with him being a defensive zero really makes me question whether or not he'd be a viable option to play crunchtime minutes for us.

I hear you, but its not as if we'd be breaking the bank to acquire him. We're talking something like Zhaire, Scott, and a 2nd.Kobblehead wrote:Derrick Rose's ability to score in the halfcourt is something we severely lack.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
Cost of acquisition is low.
Cost of having acquired him could be high, though.
With Derrick Rose as your 3rd or 4th most important player, you're susceptible to:
- him giving up blowby layups in tightly contested games
- wild drives into the teeth of the defense resulting in a bad miss or turnover
- contested shots early in the shotclock
I'd much rather have a more poised and trusted decision-maker in the spot we'd put Rose in. As mentioned, Paul, Holiday and Conley.

None of these dudes are making us any more of a title threat, sans maybe CP3.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

That's the case with trash players like Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes.
Guys that can defend their position in crunchtime like Holiday and what Conley has been before his Utah stint will make us more of a title threat than we are now. Not a favorite, but enhance our current low chances.

Harris+ Z. Smith for C. Paul. Most of the people will kind of like C. Paul if i read the previous post correct.
Then maybe a 3 team trade.
Phi get N. Bjelica, T. Young and Felicio
chi gets Horford and 2 2nd rounders (via phi)
Sacr get Satoransky and maybe 1 2nd rounder. (via chi)
Phi gets back good def PF in Young en 3 point PF in Bjelica and has to pick up bad contract Felicio.
c. Paul/Milton/Shayok
Simmons/Thybulle/Korkmaz/ pick or FA vet min
Jrich/Robinson 3/pick or FA vet min
Bjelica/Young/Scott
Embiid/Pelle/MLE

I'd be in on the CP3 deal, but could do without that 3 team scenario.Olabikkel wrote:Posted earlier

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
Getting Thad Young is interesting. Definitely a trust-worthy veteran defender at both F spots.
Don't see any use for Felicio. He's the type of goon that other teams would get to throw at Embiid (to no avail). I don't see him as a guy that can anchor the defense when Embiid sits. He's a stiff that can't move in space, or protect the rim, or rebound.
I still resent Bjelica for the snake move he pulled. Nice stretch ability, but his actions show that he's a weak-willed guy that you don't want in the foxhole with you. Besides, he's a 32 year old that spent his whole NBA career in losing organizations. Who knows if he can even play in real games. The one year Jimmy dragged the Wolves the playoffs, Bjelica only played 9.4 mpg.

Embiid
Young
Simmons
Thybulle
Paul
Pretty damn good crunchtime five. All plus defenders with nobody to exploit. Great transition offense. Great passing. Enough shooting. Paul has the skillset to score in the halfcourt.
Not a bad scenario. I'd make a title run with this group.

What's the appeal of Hield/Barnes other than being able to make threes?

Not huge appeal outside of being a presumably better fit. Hield could get better and tip the scales in our favor, or he could plateau with a Terrance Ross type of impact.Kobblehead wrote:What's the appeal of Hield/Barnes other than being able to make threes?

Aside from the more notable names like Holiday, CJ, CP3, Rose, Hield, and Conley I'm hoping EB pushes to buy low on guys like Dunn, Josh Jackson, Saric, Galloway, Belinelli to round out our roster.

You ask as if that’s not the most important quality to possess on a team built around Simmons and Embiid.
It’s going to be hard to find someone better than Hield available this summer.
PS: I don’t think Barnes is particularly good, but think he would lower the cost of acquiring Hield.

Buddy Hield - Terrible Defender. Non-creator. Doesn't pass.
Harrison Barnes - Terrible defender. Non-creator. Doesn't pass.
An argument can be made that Hield and Barnes are the two players on the Kings that embody losing basketball the most. I just don't think bringing them in and giving them 30 minute roles makes any sense. It's floor spacing at the expense of everything else. I don't think that's the answer.

I'm all-in on a Josh Jackson reclamation project. The new jumpshot form is nice and obviously he's an ace defender.
I actually really like the vet minimum market:
Kent Bazemore
Justin Holiday
Michael Carter-Williams
Jae Crowder
Shabazz Napier

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
Isn't anyone going to talk about Oladipo in this fantasy trade thread?
Indiana is concerned about the expense of keeping 4 big contracts leaving Oladipo as possibly odd man out. His addition would address a lot of problems (spacing, matchups, legitimate 2nd or even 1st scoring option) Before I hear the objections I'm willing to gamble that he's healthy and can return to form he just has to knock a lot of rust off.
Richardson (a very nice player on a team friendly contract they can plug right in)
Scott (to match salaries only one year left on his deal.)
OKC first (if necessary)
for Oladipo
Effectively Pacers get to break up Oladipo's money into two manageable contracts with one guy a legitimate starting 2 in Jrich.
Then I do a variation of Kobblehead's deal.
Horford (and change?) for Barnes and Holmes. Sactown (just outside of being a playoff team) improves the on court product with Horford's playmaking, experience and high BBIQ. We get Barnes and high energy Philly fan favorite Holmes to back up (and spot start) for Jo.
Starters
Embiid
Harris (at the 4 where he belongs)
Barnes
Simmons
Oladipo
(Much better balance, fit and scoring punch than before)
Bench
Holmes
Thybulle
Korkmaz
Shake
(and whoever wasn't outgoing change in the above deals)
Solid enough 2nd unit. Add another serviceable big man and a back up PG and let's play ball!

Felicio was Just part of the deal to get salaries working and take back bad contract to get deal done. Not for real minutes with phi. Thats why i still would use MLE for embiid back up
