Randle played in every game and put up the same numbers he’s always put up, it’s not his fault some people expected him to morph into Lebron James just because the Knicks signed him

cp3 is going to have him looking nice next year

No one is expecting him to be LeBron. People just don't want a player that hurts our best two young players just by being out on the court.

RJ doesn't like playing with him because he never passes and he hurts RJ's driving lanes and Mitch can't start because we would have zero floor spacing with Randle at the 4 and Mitch at the 5.

Therefor Randle needs to GTFO.

The best fit with those guys RJ and Mitch has to be a stretch 4, that's why we need to go after bertans or trade for markkanen or hope knox bulks up in the offseason and works on his rebounding and 3 ball or draft someone like killian tillie who can shoot

yes and I'm not paying Randle 20 million to come off the bench

but you would still have to pay Batum 25 million to sit on the bench, the money is already spent at this point unfortunately

if you can't get rid of him, it's what you should do for 1 year. it'll also let him know where he stands. he starts again and it's a repeat of last year.

moving randle does two things though. Opens up usage for maybe Knox to potentially use as a small ball 4. Knox and Wooten would be a front court I would like to see off the bench with Frank/Dotson and Iggy or Batum for a vet presence.

While it doesn't seem like a lot it also clears 4 million for the follor year. With Noah and Randle that would be $10 million of dead money which is not a good way to operate a franchise. Batum would be better for the locker room and would know is role instead of randle accepting a backup role when he will try to get his next big contract.

it's a shame they don't let you do 7 year deals like the bulls had with pippen, could go ahead and lock him up the rest of his career

you honestly think Randle is going to be a good soldier coming off the bench as the highest paid player as a 25 year old looking for his next big contract?

I want a clean slate in the locker room for knowing there roles.

i would love to get rid of him but i don't think it's easy. i would rather him be an attitude problem off the bench than an actual problem in the starting lineup.

If we can't trade him I would almost ask him if he would take a buy out and waive the $4 million. He could probably easily recoup that by resigning with someone next year too.

I actually agree that we should move him, I just think we could potentially get more value at the deadline. The trade off of course is that it ruins some potential for development for another few months but I'm still not seeing evidence that these jagoffs are even trying to develop anybody and even if they do trade him they'll probably just wind up starting another vet instead of playing guys like knox and wooten. Hell, they'd probably start batum

Can you still buy out a player with a partially guaranteed deal the next season, I was also wondering this. because failing the deadline trade that's what I'd do. Send him the way of Kanter

I think you can. His agent would just need to make sure he could recoup that money, which is the difficult part on why some people don't give up more money. Which he might not be able to do mid year. But if you did it this offseason if a team had say the mid level exception he would in theory make more money by the knicks paying him and his future team.

I am all for getting rid of Randle and never wanted him in the first place, but preparing for the worst case of another year. I dont know what they were thinking. This reads like an onion article.

With all the talk of the Knicks having three point guards and four power forwards, Coach David Fizdale introduced a new wrinkle on Wednesday.

He wants one of the team’s power forwards – former Kentucky standout Julius Randle – to play some point forward while also leading the revamped team.

“He may arguably be our most versatile player,” Fizdale said after practice at the Knicks Tarrytown, N.Y facility. “He brings the ball up for us. He’s going to play a lot of point forward, especially when he rebounds it.

“He can post you, he can play off the elbow. I think he’s an underrated passer. Going back to his film now and he does a lot of stuff to help his teammates and he makes good plays. He understands the challenge that I’m putting to him is leadership, defense and making his teammates better.”

the fact Mills, Fizdale, and Perry all agreed on this plan is frightening

Another year of Randle will make us wish the NBA waited a whole year to restart again

Now that I think of it, let the NBA just resume when Randle comes off the books, save us the pain

It's the same thing with THJ, we demanded too much out of overpaid role players and tried to make them something they aren't. THJ wasn't even bad on Dallas last year because he was put in an appropriate role for his skill set so he could stay within his comfort zone and lo and behold he was an integral part of a winning basketball team and shot a career high from 3
