As restrictions are loosened, cases go up. Numbers don’t lie. This won’t end until there is herd immunity, through a vaccine or destruction. A vaccine in enough quantities that ends up working is at least a year to a year and a half away.

God speed, man!

Yeah...vaccine up to year and a half away. Herd immunity...even longer. So...you propose stay at home orders until then? That's not even close to realistic. So...why are we waiting?

It’s still too early, imho.

You’ll love this. I just got back from taking my dog to Wantagh Park for a walk On the path. I drive in and there’s a big electric traffic sign saying that social distancing protocols apply at the park.

I get out of my car with my face mask on and, of course, my cool looking athletic prescription shades 8-) and Addidas baseball hat. I’m parked right in front of the boat dock so when we get out we walk onto to sidewalk right there and begin walking. My dog stops us to smell dog urine from one of the lamp posts when these four women in their late 30s/early 40s are walking towards me with no masks on. They could have easily created some space by simply stepping off the sidewalk and onto the adjacent empty parking spaces, but noooooooo. They had to walk directly at me to show that they weren’t going to let my desire for appropriate social distancing interfere with their god-given freedom to do whatever the fck they want. So as they walked past me, I shot The Wingo Death Stare at them. Then the one loud mouth south shore hillbilly turns back at me after they past me and starts giving me an earful. (I couldn’t hear what she was specifically saying to me bc I had Free Falling by Tim Petty on my headset But I had an idea.) So I said “Oh, Trump MAGA whores. Come back and get in my my face without a mask and see what happens to yours!” Fortunately, they kept walking. These fakers are everywhere out here.

So instead of being a gentleman and stepping to the side you stand your ground with your dog and stare at them? Then when 1 of them says something (that you admittedly didn’t hear) you call them whores and threaten them to come back and get in your face and see what happens? All of this while having your face completely covered? Huh...

It’s in the White House. This brings the count to 2 in the White House. Who's next?

Douche bag, I had nowhere to move. I was up against the fence separating the path from the boat dock. They had the entire parking lot with room to move. As I watched them approach me and my dog, I just looked at them expecting that the would creat distance as I had nowhere to go.

They actually committed a crime.

I would say the split is about 50/50. 1/2 thinks its a hoax the other is taking this seriously. When someone they know gets really sick or (god forbid) dies I expect the naysayers will flip over like a light switch.

80% of people who get this...have a 95% survival rate. Why is it ok to shut down the right to work for 100% of the population? I was all for stay at home. Now...I'm all for PAYING MY BILLS AND EATING FOOD! Anyone who dies...INCLUDING MYSELF...from this disease...hasn't been paying attention. NY....most of the new cases...WERE STAYING AT HOME!! Let's not let the facts interfere with the emotions.

2 months of stay at home for a 14 day incubation period? Fix the healthcare system and that's that!

The rights of the few outweigh the rights of the many. Good idea.

Ok...so...a person who is getting salary that I PAY...is telling me I . to suffer for the greater good? Give me my money back and you suffer!!

Enough already. People protesting without masks and all of that shyt is rudiculous. So is destroying the economy and making this a 3rd world country so 20% of us don't die?

I'm willing to risk MY LIFE in order to feed my family. PPE and social distancing work. Why is it ok for me to go food shopping...but not ok to go to work?

2nd wave is coming NO MATTER HOW LONG WE WAIT. Let's destroy the lives of the survivors? Enough already.

I have a old friend here on LI who has a small insulation installation business. He has a small crew that doesn't have to work closely (social distancing is easy) and will not be around any other people. They go into what are now empty buildings or other structures and do their job and get paid. I see no problem with that. I don't know what kind of business you're in but it sounds similar. Perhaps you could give us more details so we can pass further judgment on you.

Turns out the Pence aide with the virus is the wife of none other than Trump’s immigration advisor and alien from outer space, Stephen Miller.

Welcome to my side. I really don’t see the problem in letting people decide their own fate. If you wanna work we should be allowed to work, if you are afraid to work stay home.

I was ok with the lockdown. 2 wks initially. Then a month...still good with it. Now it's TWO MONTHS? Enough already. I do not agree with no masks no gloves...open up everything but...after 2 months...we are on the decline. The hospitals should now be ready for the next wave. I mean...that's the issue to start with. Hospitals were overrun. Fix the healthcare system. That's the whole problem here.

I work in various phases of construction. From Painting..to HVAC...appliances...and more. Can't do any of it. Waiting on 600 decks to paint up near Newburgh. I have a lot of "irons in the fire". Can't do anything. I'm pretty much broke at this point. 3 man crew most of the time.

I don't want to come off callous or selfish but...what's going on here? If people don't know by now who's most vulnerable...and how to protect themselves and others...then that's on them. The rest of the country is being destroyed while we wait. This thing is not going away until medicine/science catch up to it. Everyone who stayed at home...will eventually come in contact with this virus. There was ZERO coordination with lockdown rules. So...the only thing happening...is prolonging the inevitable. We can't wait a year for that too happen. The civil unrest is going to get worse. I'm usually very patient but...if 2 months isn't stopping this...3 month's won't either. I need to feed and support my family. The gov't can't do it. I don't even want them to. No stimulus check. No unemployment. I know there is some jobs hiring...pizza delivery and supermarkets. That money isn't paying my bills. So...as much as I am considering taking one of those jobs...it's getting passed that at this point. I'm falling in a giant hole of debt right now. It gets bigger every week. The only thing saving me is the eviction freeze that was just extended through August... thankfully.

This can't and shouldn't drag on much longer. May 15th is not the end for Long Island...that's the message I'm getting from Cuomo. Great.

Brother, I’m so sorry that you’re hurting like this. Did you apply for the small business loan programs? Pelosi is talking about another stimulus bill of $3 trillion.

In the meantime, can’t you take some jobs to keep the money coming in? What about unemployment-plus?

Where did I say that it was " ok to shut down the right to work for 100% of the population? My comment was referring to the selfish people who refuse wear masks.

I agree that this is a "pick your poison" situation...its either more death or complete financial collapse which will also lead to more deaths.

Welcome to my side. I really don’t see the problem in letting people decide their own fate. If you wanna work we should be allowed to work, if you are afraid to work stay home.

I can empathize with the small business owner who wants to earn a living. Everybody has this assumption that they are all sitting on riches when in many cases they are making no more after expenses to include payroll than a very well paid employee.

Buy what happens to your employees who aren't as brave as you. They don't get to come back when things cool down do they. Actually the moment you walk into work and come home alive you'll start thinking its not a big deal. You'll generate ideas that others who weren't willing to go in when you did are undeserving, weak, uncommitted.

Do you now need extra insurance for pandemic aftershock? What happens to the employee that gets sick and blames her employers for a lack of adequate protections. What protections are you required to provide?

You might wanna get that worked out before you jump back into letting all your labor back. Labor that's probably BBQing with friends as we speak, in groups. Cause hey, its thier life too.

The stimulus checks are going to those who don't desperately need it, like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

True but how long would you be alive if you couldn't feed yourself, or protect yourself from other people trying to feed themselves?
