"Some great players come from smaller schools" Really? Thanks for the info.
Look, read the post, brooks is a fantastic linebacker. So im not gonna split hairs. But just to say i have a preference in speed, competition and context when scouting and analyzing. In those categories Queen wins out in my evaluation. And yes, brooks will be an excellent player for the Hawks.

it just ends up being a crapshoot

there are players from the big name schools that don't pan out every year, you never know

Difficult finding those players who have a natural ability to read gaps, see the seams of the offense, and just instinctively make plays. The Ravens Suggs had that ability. Just read plays well and was on the ball most of the time. Troy Polamalu was another, although different position. This kid murray has that ability.
HOWEVER, if i was GM, although close, i wouldve went for queen. I always choose the main line program vs a texas tech, tougher competition faced, and conference where a LB has to have a multitude of skills. But thats just my personal scouting belief. If all things are even, side with the player who plays in a tougher context and see how he performs.

Some great players come from smaller schools.

Back in 2012, most people preferred & viewed Mychal Kendricks as a superior player to Bobby Wagner. Mainly because Wagner went to Utah State. Well...How did that turn out?

Queen had one great year. Like you say he stands out because of where he played. Meanwhile, Brooks had more production over 4 years. But didn't play in the SEC. So his name is not as recognizable. Both should be good players.

Jerry Rice - Mississippi Valley State. Roger Staubach - Navy. Joe Montana - Notre Dame. Walter Peyton - Jackson State. Do I need to continue?

I'm not entirely sure why you included Notre Dame when listing a bunch of players from smaller schools lol. But my previous point stands. I would take someone who has produced vs. Just a name from a big school.

Sometimes that can be a bit deceiving also. Depending on your coach, system and way you develop players. For instance the Cowboys drafted Rayfield Wright from Fort Valley State in 1967. He went there to play basketball and Tom Landry turned him into a hall of Fame RT and one of the best offensive lineman in our history.
