Value picks:
1989 1 11 Nick Anderson
1989 2 37 Michael Ansley
1990 1 4 Dennis Scott
2006 1 11 J. J. Redick
2012 2 49 Kyle O'Quinn
2014 1 4 Aaron Gordon
2017 1 6 Jonathan Isaac
2017 2 33 Wesley Iwundu
*** (tbd) 2018 1 6 Mohamed Bamba

Players traded to soon:
1998 1 12 Michael Doleac
1998 1 15 Matt Harpring
2000 1 5 Mike Miller
2000 1 10 Keyon Dooling (but the Magic did trade back for him mid career)
2003 2 42 Zaza Pachulia
2004 2 30 Anderson Varejão
2005 2 38 Travis Diener (just kidding)
2008 1 22 Courtney Lee
2013 1 2 Victor Oladipo
2014 1 12 Dario Šarić
2016 1 11 Domantas Sabonis
2017 2 35 Ivan Rabb

What I see with previous management is that rookies and sophomores wee trade assets. And with new management, all picks are made for development.

It is quite stunning that most of Orlando's current players were developed in Orlando. The continuity of current Management is extraordinarily patient.

Bamba/Birch/Fournier/Frazier/Fultz/Gordon/Isaac/Iwundu/Vučević: that is the list of names that have learnt the game wearing magic blue. That is probably amongst the league's most stable roster.

Well, Florida is known for being one of the best places to retire in the US, right?

BTW, you can add Corey Maggette to your 2nd list.

Should've been Myles Turner.

Portland fan here.

Was excited to get him at beginning of year.

Damn is he terrible.

He can do only a few things well; rebound and go coast to coast as long as he doesn’t have to change direction, make the obvious pass, and, most frequently, suck.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

If you are trying to state Vázquez made the correct choice to stay in Spain versus coming to the NBA, considering his metrics, I agree.

Look: he made something like €10,000,000.00 after taxes and after living expenses to be a Euro-"star". Not hard to complain from this in his perspective eyes.

(( Also consider; given that Vázquez was basically what Khem Birch is; Birch will not make $USD11,000,000.00 in his career AFTER taxes and AFTER living expenses - which is something like $USD 30M in career earnings as the NBA calculates that )).

He was listed at 6'10 but seemed a little taller, there was a picture of him next to Chris Webber and just towered over him. And his wingspan was reportedly quite large, maybe not Bamba length but would probably have been near top in the league.

I think he would have been an elite shotblocker and probably not offer anything else.

Bad choice because he never played for us though.

After Porziņģis was drafted 4, and the 60 seconds of depression faded, many here wanted: Hezonja, Cauley-Stein, or Mudiay.
In reflection, none are NBA starter capable players and the Magic was not going to get a straight-up quality pick at #5.

BUT: there was a lot of vibe of Orlando trading down to Indiana (not even considering that Turner was drafted).

At the moment, I think the Magic could have had Indiana draft Turner and then immediately trade for his rights and the Pacers' 2016 FRP. As an aside, that pick become Caris LeVert.

So, Orlando could have potentially traded Hezonja for Turner and (what became) LeVert.

Boy did management suck in 2015!

I remember that draft vividly... I was very passionate about my dislike of this pick.

I am still holding out hope we convince Fran to come over as a coach lol

As far as Hezonja I actually really liked the pick at the time but man did he not work out lol. Thought at the worst he could at least be a great shooter. A shame the Knicks took Porzinigs sounded like we had promised him the year before if he came out we would have drafted him. As far as who went behind Mario it wasn't spectacular besides Booker at 13. That would have really helped haha. Turner is whatever. He is a decent player but we'd still be mid tier like we are now. Zinger and Booker would have been the only ones that would have turned our fortune and Zinger was out of our hands and Booker would have taken some incredible foresight.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

I especially that Girona and then Barcelona paid him really much thant rookie scale may allow him ...

PS: Girona went to bankruptcy in 2008
Frank Ntilikina is a play-off player, but he goes to the Hornets.

Paris 2024 (Starters):
Ntilikina - Malédon - Hayes
Coulibaly - De Colo
TLC - Rupert or Risacher
Wembanyama- Yabusele
Embiid- Poirier - Lessort [without Embiid: Fall]

Return to Orlando Magic
