Without getting into all the details, Mikesell is "allegedly" transferring for the same reason Austin is transferring: ROLE.
Scuttlebutt is that Mikesell wants the offense to run through her....and that ain't happening.
Austin fancies herself more of a perimeter player and wants to shoot threes.
What can you you do?
Transfers we've added within the last few days

Yup, barring the unforeseen, next season is almost certain to be MD's worst in the Big 10. For the 1st time, I'm going to try to make an effort to follow the women's team - that's how bad I think the men are going to be. Maybe follow the Mystics too. Do we have a Mystics thread - was the Charles trade a good one?

Yeah. The Charles trade was great.
Here's the Mystics thread

Jairus Hamilton and Donta Scott will get all the pt they can handle, and 6'4 Morsell will play a lot of PF. It's gonna be mostly smallball next season.

No.
They won by spreading the floor. Charles demands touches and clogs the floor. Meesman or DelaDonna will have to guard SF.
They will be totally different and will lack quickness.
They gave up all next year's picks and this year's first. Bad trade.

That makes sense to me - especially with her being an older player. Then again, maybe they have enough 3 point shooters that Charles clogging the middle won't be much of an issue. I guess we should start using the Mystics thread. And they figure they're just giving up late picks. I guess they're looking at their championship window.

MD's top men's basketball recruit in a couple of years, and he's only ranked 112th in the nation. Tells you how poor their recruiting is going. And if he didn't have a sister going to MD, gotta wonder if he'd be going. Still, this is finally a step in the right direction, and hopefully more will come.

Both teams at UMCP are going to tank next season.
Brenda's losing too many recruits to the transfer portal. Turgeon's talent level absolutely sucks now.

The difference is Brenda has incoming players to replace what was lost.
Turgeon not so much....

Hate to say it but... the Galin Smith that just transferred from Alabama to MD is no better than any of the players who transferred from MD - based on 3 years of stats at bama. Galin Smith sounds like Jalen Smith but doesn't play like Jalen Smith. It might be best for Maryland if next men's season is cancelled but they let the women play.
