Lillard is better than Klay, and nobody is starting a Lillard vs. Nash thread...

Stats actually show Reggie is more clutch than MJ. But if we're counting the amount of just clutch shots in general and not percentage, MJ probably takes it.

Re: Reggie Miller vs Klay Thompson
For those that saw Reggie play, he is easily the better player. I think the younger generation who did not watch Reggie are just looking at their raw stats and think since they are similar, they are comparable. Well, the advanced stats say otherwise as Reggie significantly beats Klay in both the regular season and postseason.
The eye test tells an even bigger story. Reggie was their clear number 1 in the postseason and always stepped it up which very few stars have shown they can do. His postseason numbers were significantly better than his regular season numbers. He also went toe to toe against MJ in the 98ECF but lost in G7.

Not saying it's a big deal or anything, but I'd straight up quit this website if Klay had been winning this poll.

And that about wraps this up. Maybe even double bags it.

Klay is not a marginally better 3 pt shooter, he’s in an entirely different tier from Reggie.
However, Reggie has a higher TS% because he shoots more FTs (mostly due to his kick out move). Reggie is also a slightly better FT shooter. Klay only shoots 2.4 FTs which is insanely low for a 20 pt scorer.
Klay has one of the best, if not the best shooting forms ever. It’s absolutely perfect. But it’s almost too perfect because he shoots from a set position and doesn’t draw contact or contort his body. Meaning he isn’t going to the line very often.
Klay’s TS% is only 57.5%. That’s insanely low for such a great 3 PT shooter. TS% is slanted towards guys who
Basically, Klay is the better shooter but Reggie is more efficient.
Is Steve Kerr in a different tier than Stephen Curry?
Kerr - 45.4%
Curry - 43.5%
Yes they are in different tiers, considering Kerr shoots 7 fewer 3s per game.
And the 3 point line was closer for 3 years.

That fact holds absolutely no weight in this discussion. Save for two outlier seasons, Kerr was shooting 40% from 3 or better regardless of the distance of the three point line.
And for the other poster, guys who are great shooters tend to do better with more volume.

Reggie is such a hard player to evaluate because his overall stats are kind of meh, but his impact in key games was just staggering. In the last 5 minutes of a close game, you just feared Reggie Miller. Not a lot of players elicit fear.

Reggie's advanced metrics (esp in the playoffs) are not meh at all.
He's 13th in career postseason OBPM

It does for the fact that if you remove those two seasons (Kerr's best from both a volume and percentage stand point), Curry and Kerr flip spots percentage wise at the top of the leaderboard, thus rendering your point moot. And under the pressure that Curry sees in particular, he would not have shot remotely as well. That's not a debate to anyone who is not outright trolling. He was a set shooter who fed off kickouts. Curry is a everything under the sun shooter, and receives some of the most obtrusive defense in history.

I literally watched his whole career, me and my grandmother mad at him all the time for not shooting more. But he preferred to let the game come to him. He allowed the offense to run through Chuck Person, then through Rik Smits inside out.

I don't actually believe that Kerr is the superior shooter to Curry. I'm just making the point that a 3 point % that is 2% better is not really what decides who is on a different tier as a shooter.

Those are just summary stats of the RAW stats. If your read of his raw stats are significantly different from those metrics, then you're not good at reading the raw stats.

I would rephrase this as "He preferred to let the defense come to him. He allowed Indiana's secondary players to reap the offensive reward."
Reggie's gravity and ability to just warp opposing defenses -- both with the ball in his hands (very underrated iso scorer when he needed to be) and while working off ball -- was just insane

We're on the same side of the debate here. All I meant was that it's easy to look at his stats and see a guy who wasn't an All-Time great scorer, didn't rebound much, get many assists, etc. and walk away not understanding what made him so special (whether it was his clutch ability, unrelenting confidence, or simply running around the court all game long tiring out his opponents).
