Back Alley brawl: Zion vs McGregor who wins?
This is from the JJ Redick podcast where they somehow brought this up for some reason. Pretty hilarious. JJ picked his Zion Teammate to win.
Zion Williamson is 19yo 6’6 285lbs
Connor McGregor is 31yo 5’9 180lbs *
Who wins in a 3 round 3min MMA fight?
Does Zion just pick him up and sit on him?
Does McGregor put a finger submission on Zion?
Does Zion just push Connor off and wait for time to expire?

I think there's about a zero percent chance that McGregor wins a back alley fight with a pro athlete literally twice as heavy as him. They have weight classes in UFC for a reason.

Zion maybe isn't a fighter though.

Your weights are wrong. Since this is a back alley brawl Mcgregor isn't cutting weight/water weight. His walk around weight is around 180.

I'm not a McGregor fan at all. But he'll knock Zion out in 5 seconds easily

Doesn't Zion have effed up knees? It's like an open invitation for Mcgregor to wreck them.

“The other day I saw one of his games. He was running with the ball at a hundred per cent full speed, I don’t know how many touches he took, maybe five or six, but the ball was glued to his foot. It’s practically impossible.”

Zion needs to stay low and push Connor away with his hand in a fist so Connor can’t grab one of his fingers lol.
Or maybe Zion just goes for the immediate bear hug and squeeze Connor into submission.

Unless Zion is skilled enough to defend the jaw shot thats about to knock him out then Conor would make quick work of him.
Weight does matter but one of them is alot more trained in this situation. Conor dodges one sloppy punch and hes countering Zions jaw and knocking him out

I see you with the gameplan Cdubbz. Pad Zion's knees and sacrifice a couple of blows to get Zion into position for a bear hug...It's a wrap.

I don't care how much of a Hulk Zion is, Conor is knocking him out within a minute.
Conor is one of the most accurate and hard-hitting fighters out there, and he's got a pretty long reach. Just because you're big and muscular like Zion doesn't mean you're immediately the favorite against a UFC fighter (and most NBA players are lousy throwers of punches, on top of that lol). Maybe he can hold his own in wrestling though.

That'd be a really interesting fight. McGregor is obviously the pro, but I think some are discounting the size a bit too much. Zion's got 9 inches and 100ish pounds on him. Assuming Zion's been in a fight before and knows what to do, that difference in reach miiiiiight be able to keep Conor away long enough to set up the bear hug/bull rush/belly flop

Some of you don’t seem to realize that your height & weight only matters in a fight if both people are at the same level skill-wise.
If both guys can’t fight, the bigger guy has a better chance.
If both are fairly skilled, the bigger guy has a better chance.
If the smaller guy is more skilled though, he’s definitely doing some significant damage.
Most people only fight with their hands, while skilled fighters use damn near everything. Forearms, shins, elbows, feet etc. No matter how big you are, your face & limbs can’t manage being hit too many times.

Zion is not a pro MMA fighter but he would break McGregor's bones if he landed a punch or kick.

With that vertical, Zion will just jump on McGregor's head like Super Mario. Easy dub.

At some point, size just out trumps skill. Having a 100 pounds of muscle over someone is too big to overcome. I'd bet on Zion assuming he has some level of wrestling/fighting skill.
