I miss the 1 on 1 battles and post play, 3 point chucking will always and forever be cringy bad shots to me.
Also the Lebron/MJ debate is fueled almost entirely from ESPN and sports media, they need something to talk about. At least its not 20000 consecutive hours about steroids I guess.

Yea that's a matter of opinion of course. But it generally is more entertaining, at least by somewhat clear majority opinion. That's all I was saying. It's not dissimilar to someone who likes a 1-0 baseball game over a 7-5. It's fine, to each their own, but most would prefer the one with more scoring. I'm certainly of the opinion that I prefer more up tempo, more skills, more shooting, etc and less beating the crap out of each other. We have football for that.
Essentially this carried onto to the mid 00s before they pulled the plug on it and changed the rules due to bad ratings/reviews. which led to the game as it is now. I mean lets say the Bucks play an 82-75 game, wouldn't the majority reaction be "ugh what an ugly game". I vaguely remember a game vs Miami last season like that.
The problem with all of the 3's is that the games are so swingy. Way too many blow outs and games decided in the first half. I don't want to watch games where a team is down 25 in the 3rd...even though now more than ever a team can overcome that.
Way too much variance game to game.

In 20 years people will be having this same conversation about another player v. Michael Jordan. The NBA and basketball world as a whole is still chasing the ghost of MJ, and that might be the most resonating takeaway I have from the documentary and the ensuing fallout from it. First Kobe, then Lebron, and let's just hope as Bucks fans that it's Giannis' turn next.

Well, I hope none of you are the ones complaining when there is a WI or UVA game 24-19 at halftime or 50-45 finals.
I agree with the swinginess of the 3s being a problem. I was curious on what the average margin of victory is now vs say 25 years ago. Scoring margin isn't the same thing, I don't think. Though I haven't dug deep into the math, maybe it ends up being the same thing. Quick googling I don't see it. Can't look or dig into it right now.

Heres a take. Shaq is a funner comparison for LeBron than Jordon. Insane physical freaks that at times made you question how someone is supposed to stop them. They make the game seem unfair. LeBron basically is the answer to what Shaq would have been if he was more committed.

Yep. But the one saving grace of the three point world is that it has slightly impacted the dominance of the superstar player. More teams have hope. A team like Houston can gimmick their way to having a shot at going deep in the playoffs.

If the NBA would widen the court and expand the three point line, it would solve a lot of problems. I've been saying this for 20 years and every year the problem gets worse. This season was the 8th consecutive season the NBA broke the record for three pointers per game. The first season averaging 10 three point attempts per game was 1995. The first season averaging 20 was 2013. This season, teams are averaging 33.9 three point attempts per game. The NBA three point line is far too close for NBA players.

I'll keep harping on it but I don't think the 3PT distance is or has ever been the problem. The problem is that officials don't call moving screens anymore. The Warriors were basically the first to realize this but now every team spams illegal screens constantly (including the Bucks). Shooters have gotten better but they also have way more space to operate.
The NBA didn't seem too motivated to stop it and guys like James Harden are what we now get as a result. Offensive players who've specialized their skillset around the idea that you literally can't initiate any sort of contact as a defender on the perimeter anymore, but for some reason, can still get away with murder in the paint and as a screener on offense. It's why even the best defenses are basically just gambling with the shooting odds. It's the way you have to play now.

After the Bulls, Jordan took 3 years off and came back for 2 season with the Wiz. His final season he averaged 37 minutes per game and played all 82. No load management
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Bojan Bogdanovic electing to have surgery now is pretty interesting. He’s a gamer & been one of the most durable dudes in the league for years. Wonder if that’s his way of showing what he thinks of returning to play in an empty Disney practice gym or if he caught wind of something that hasn’t been announced yet. Jazz still battling for home court.

Anyone ever do a deep dive into legit options for MJ if he'd have left the Bulls and went elsewhere immediately? It was a whole different world of rules and cap stuff and the lockout situation. So I'm sure it's very complicated. But assuming he'd have needed at least 20 mil (he was in the mid 30s with Bulls) as a straight FA where could he have gone?

You could be right but I don't think the timing makes sense. If it was a message, he could've sent it a few weeks or even a month ago. If he didn't like the bubble scenario, I doubt there was any scenario where he would've accepted playing in the next few months. He should've just got it a month ago to give him as much runway as possible before start of 20-21.
I'm curious how optional it was or if it just got worse and worse.
"Bogdanovic injured the wrist in late 2019 and then played in considerable discomfort, sources said. The decision to have surgery gives Bogdanovic a chance to fully recover in anticipation of the start of the 2020-21 season."

There was at least one notorious standoff between Jordan and Cartwright. Pretty sure it was in "Jordan Rules." Save for the DC years, this is Exhibit A for Jordan as toxic teammate.
Beyond that, there's a number of boulevards TLD never explored or explained:
1) What's the deal with standard-issue white dude as Jordan's best friend?
2) Why was Juanita Jordan's first appearance in the entire series a brief blink-and-miss-it flash in the last installment?
3) Why wasn't Chicago the City used to give the series a sense of place, particularly Black Chicago. In Jordan's early pro years, he shared top billing with insurgent black Mayor Harold Washington and a new on the scene Oprah Winfrey. Jesse Jackson ran for the presidency based out of the city. Home-grown house music was having a moment on the global stage. Lot of big things happening, yet no one watching would know it.
4) Why was Ahmad Rashad, whose role at NBC was to serve as MJ's glorified valet, given so much time? If a former "Inside Stuff" host had to be used, why wasn't it Summer Sanders? [hey boo, come visit Dane County once the rona blows over, we could kick it over some Thai no big deal]
5) How did Jordan get into golf? One minute he's wearing chains on the court, next minute he's getting the yips on the greens.
6) Dammit, where's the footage of Kukoc smoking?

Why wasn't his temper tantrum eight FGA in 46 minute game against Detroit explored?

i would accept that he was an **** as a teammate, but if the overall success of the team didn't suffer i have a hard time calling his behavior toxic.

If you want to foucs on a phrase I used more for alliteration than accuracy, go 'head. Probably the least comment-worthy part of my post.

Well there is the conspiracy theory that his foray into baseball wasn't so much a passion project for him but a suspension from the league due to gambling.MissKhriddleton wrote:Curious as to what people think was held back to protect Jordan's image? Away from the conspiracy theories though Jordan's image is safe. Jordan came up at the perfect time for branding. The internet was just becoming a force but we as a society hadn't switched to wanting to tear down people on top

I'd prefer limiting the amount of 3 pointers that count as 3 points until the fourth quarter. Say a max of 4 made per quarter in quarters 1-3? A little more strategy in basketball would be interesting to me at least.

Imagine if Jordan got to play against today's defenses where defenders aren't allowed to even touch the opponent. Well, unless it's the guy guarding Giannis, of course.
