It would, that plan would only make sense if Rose did this temporarily as a placeholder for Masai and I don’t see that being the case.

The Raptors GM Bobby Webster is available in 21 though and the feeling from reporters was the reason the Raptors didn’t give the Bulls the right to interview Webster was that they didn’t want to lose him in case Masai left since he would be the next choice to be their POBO.

A wise move would be for Leon to build up the FO, continue to gather assets and cap space and then see if Webster would want to join the knicks for Money. It would be far from a guarantee, but it would make sense.

I like the logic. Most former Knicks GM’s go “Oh man we messed up not drafting Donovan Mitchell, we should go and trade all we have for him or beg him to come here” on the flip Leon goes “Oh man the knicks messed up not drafting Donovan Mitchell, let me go and hire the guy behind that pick so they don’t make that mistake again”

That’s a much less dramatic and more realistic approach to problem solving than we’re use to. The more I see the more I respect Leon’s moves so far. They aren’t big moves but you got to set yourself up for those big moves with the correct little moves.

Yea, it seemed that way, especially with the 1 year deal. Guess they could keep him around in a lesser role. Or maybe he will be phased out and will move on eventually. Probably not a big deal either way. Rose and his guys will be calling the shots.
